......will one day falter.

I'm afraid that Seniorboy died late this afternoon. At the vet's. I have some very very fine whisky waiting to salute him with and I am just going to go and light a candle for him. I probably won't be around for a few days - or if I am, you'll have to bear with some rather tipsy posting.

My Darling old lad.

I've only just seen this, cozie. So sorry to hear the news.

I love this from one of your posts above:

He had a good life. And then it stopped. I feel the pain of loss but not that of regret.

Beautifully put Flowers

cozietoesie · 31/03/2017 11:59

Thank you all. I've just had a card from the vet's which has moved me.

Oh my God I'm so sorry. I avoided clicking on this thread because I had an inkling. But my God, what a great, grand long life he led. He was lucky to have you Flowers.

iloveeverykindofcat · 31/03/2017 12:24

I'm sure he'll be a legend at the vets!

Vinorosso74 · 31/03/2017 12:49

Oh Cozie it's tough. I think vets do have their favourite regulars which I bet Seniorboy was.
I was clearing a cupboard out a while back and found a card from the vets after we lost our previous cat (10 years ago) and ended up crying.

QueenFuri · 31/03/2017 12:50

So sorry FlowersFlowers

Penfold007 · 31/03/2017 12:53

RIP Seniorboy. Sorry sorry for your loss Cozzie 💐

ElizaDontlittle · 31/03/2017 13:51

I can't believe I didn't read this before! I'm so sorry cozie - he really was the most elegant Wink of gentlemen, and it sounds like he symbolised a great deal more. He got crazycat introduced to lickelix this last week - she salutes him! Be very gentle with yourself Flowers

cozietoesie · 31/03/2017 13:55

Well all I can say is that I have the world's supply of Lick E Lix downstairs. I'm hoping to catch the neighbours in because I'm darned sure I'm not eating it myself - vile stuff! If no takers there, it will go to the nearest rescue or food bank.

Hang onto a few sticks, Cozie, you never know when it might come in handy.

Mr C agrees vigorously.

TheLongRider · 31/03/2017 15:54

Could you use some of the Lick E Lix as grave goods in the manner of an Egyptian pharaoh? Possibly a favourite toy too? Not that Seniorboy would deign to have toys.

One of ours was a sun worshipper so we buried her in the garden in her favourite spot. It was nice to be able to remember her there.

Viewofhedges · 31/03/2017 15:59

Flowers for you cozie. You helped me work out when to take my own little one to the vets last year and I shan't forget it. Sorry you've lost your friend.

cozietoesie · 31/03/2017 16:04

No, Long. He's gone now, I fear. The candle helped enormously - I have no idea why - but I have no sense of his presence any more. All the reactions are just down to me.

My Darling Lad.

He's with Twoago regaling him with tales of electric blankets & Felix as good as it looks on tap.

UnbornMortificado · 31/03/2017 18:14

Hope your ok (as can be) cozie, you were very helpful/lovely when my mam was losing her old boys a few months ago.

LanaorAna1 · 31/03/2017 18:39

He's gone, which is awful, but I think that as time passes more of his spirit will return as a beacon.

Cozie I hope you are feeling a bit stronger today and have eaten something and have someone to help you with the appalling, poignant practicalities that must be an experience you'd rather not repeat.

Seniorboy would not want you to be upset.

cozietoesie · 31/03/2017 18:51

Au contraire, Lana. He would be enormously ........sensible that it was about him. (Perhaps 'gratified' is too harsh a word. Grin) No saint that one.

When Mr C goes, he would want me to commit Suti on a bonfire made of his cashmere blanket, Cozie.

Know the feeling :)

LemonRedwood · 31/03/2017 18:59

Only just seen this. I'm so sorry cozie Flowers

EffinElle · 31/03/2017 19:01

So sorry to hear about Seniorboys passing, sending you love and strength Flowers

cozietoesie · 31/03/2017 19:04

Thanks, folks. Smile

Just caught up with your sad news cozie rip dear puss. What a lucky cat to have had so much love for so many years.Flowers

HemanOrSheRa · 31/03/2017 19:48

How are you doing this evening cozie? I am thinking of you Flowers.

cozietoesie · 31/03/2017 20:24

Much better thanks, Heman. I'm still perched on the outside 6" of the bed but that's years and years of conditioning - a few days isn't going to alter that attitude. Smile

HemanOrSheRa · 31/03/2017 20:54

Ha! The clinging onto the teeny piping of the mattress Smile. I haven't had a full nights sleep on a whole mattress since 1992. Or been to the toilet or bathed/showered. Cats (mostly), dogs, children. It's ingrained Smile.
