Fattycat's mouth won't close

Fattycat can't close her mouth. I think she's yawned and it's locked. Threw some clothes in and straight out the house after a chase to catch her. Vet took her straight off me in case she was in distress. She's not though. I her and Snorg have a plot to kill me!!

Why do cats always look so pissed off? Grin

cozietoesie · 21/03/2017 23:13

Gorgeous girls, though. Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 22/03/2017 09:38

She seems more her usual self again. And slept with me all night. Think she's got some earache as she keeps grooming her ears. Presumably because her jaw is sore. Really not convinced there is a fracture as she seems quite happy to groom, and chew on things and I can't see how she could have done it in the first place. The vets got confused. One thought she had the other didn't. Arghh!

Really struggling with wet food feeding. They have pate as a treat and that is the only wet food they'll eat. But I don't want them both on it as it's not a complete food. Tried softening the kibble with cat soup and water but they won't touch it. Their kibble is specially designed for flat face so is tiny pieces anyway. The vet doesn't wasn't her opening her mouth wide. But I've noticed she's limiting herself with this anyway. And I'm sure if it hurts she won't eat. The vet said if she really won't eat anything else it's not the end of the world. Any ideas?!!

I'd give the vet a quick buzz and explain the situation/seek her thoughts. You've done nobly but the pate isn't a long-term solution from the sound of it. Back to 'special dry' at the weekend?

Toddlerteaplease · 22/03/2017 11:35

Yes. I think that is what I will do. This is her majesty this morning. I think she's quite happy!

Awwww! Adorable! I'm so jealous, we haven't got a cat at the moment, ours died and I do t want to get another one til my floors are done, would be unfair to disrupt them. So I'm getting a good cat fix here! So so cute I can't take it

Toddlerteaplease · 22/03/2017 16:26

Spokevto the vet and they suggested all the things I've already tried. But said if she won't eat anything else then she'll just have to have her biscuits. Got a box of indoor cat pouches. If she won't eat them then I give up!

So be it. I mean this mishap came out of the blue as far as you can see - you have to try of course but you can't protect her completely, I think.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/03/2017 16:56

Yes. That's why I am no convinced about there being a fracture because I just cannot see how on earth she's done it. Also she has no symptoms of a fracture. Unless she's fallen off something, but apart from her tree she's not a climber. And I never heard a crash or a cry.

cozietoesie · 22/03/2017 17:33

I wouldn't necessarily disagree with there being a fracture - they're not always very dramatic things. The trouble is 'What could have caused it?' With bones, you generally have either a normal bone being subjected to abnormal stress of some description, or an abnormal bone reacting to normal everyday usage. (And some 'in-betweens'.) I'm guessing that it was a very frightening experience and one over which you've racked your memory. Sadly, you may never know.

She seems happy now though?

Toddlerteaplease · 22/03/2017 18:04

Yes she's a happy bunny. Still giving pain killers. I was in bed when it happened and only realised when I saw her sitting at the top of the stairs with her mouth open. She'd been fine an hour or so earlier, when she sneezed in my face!

Hope she's better this evening?

Noooo!! I need to console myself with the fact that its maximum of 6 months til I can adopt one or two gigantic fluffballs.... I'm seriously lacking in fluffiness in my house!

Miss my old boy Sad

cozietoesie · 22/03/2017 20:14

Have you any nearby rescues that you might volunteer at - to 'socialise' some cats for example? Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 22/03/2017 20:23

Regular litter tray posters are welcome to come and pay homage to my pair of floofies. If they are anywhere near the East Midlands.

Inarightpickleandchutney · 22/03/2017 20:31

I am nowhere near the Midlands

There is a cat rescue 8.25 miles away, now I've googled.

That's my weekend sorted Smile

cozietoesie · 22/03/2017 20:36

You could always have a look at Catchat as well. They have a lot of the smaller rescues listed. Smile

Inarightpickleandchutney · 22/03/2017 20:39

Thanks cozie and thanks to toddler for the snaps so far.

It's weird but my heart just aches with needing a kitty cat.
An enormous fluffballs smooshy massive kitty.

I have no need for more children...
Only cats.

I am clearly crazy Grin

cozietoesie · 22/03/2017 20:42

Just remember- if you go to a rescue, you're there to help and not to take home half the residents! Grin

abbsisspartacus · 22/03/2017 20:42

My thumb cat once hooked her claw through the middle of her paw from the top (like she was crossing her claws) even the vet was WTF? Never worked out how she did it

Toddlerteaplease · 22/03/2017 20:50

Pickle. You sound perfectly rational to me. Fatty is currently being a very good book rest and is doing that toe spreading thing. Too cute.

Inarightpickleandchutney · 22/03/2017 21:21

Enjoy smooshy fluffy cuddles!

Toddlerteaplease · 23/03/2017 10:42

I know you are spiking my pate with medication and you will live to regret it!
