She's in labour!

First stage labour, lots of skin twitching and discomfort and thinking she needs to mate. Shall we try for a live birth thread?

Before anyone panics about a male cat in the room with her, he's neutered, not the dad, wouldn't know what to do with a cat in heat anyway, and being supervised. She seems to find being near him calming at the moment.

You don't reckon there are many kittens inside, though?

No. Her belly is tiny for a cat at the end of her pregnancy, and I can only feel movement on one side.

I could be wrong, she could be carrying 3 or 4 kittens really tightly. I'd actually prefer a slightly larger litter. Easier to keep the mother interested and the milk supply going.

She's only young. All her adult teeth are in but she still has some growing to do. Under a year I think.

She seems to be in no hurry. Inconsiderate child, withholding kitten cuteness from us! She's spent a bit of time lying in her chosen nest, done a lot of foof washing, and slept a lot.

Actually, I pushed the issue of sleep. I got so tired of her using me as a springboard in her search for an exit and leaping at any part of me that moved (5+ hours of it, starting before dawn!) that I gave her a big hug until she relaxed and closed her eyes. She's awake again now but much less energetic.

The longer she takes the more developed the kitten/s will be, so it's fine that she's dawdling.

Poor kitty. That's very young to be a mum.

Oh, Rubbish, she seems to be an Oriental mix from the shape of her face.

She is resting uncomfortably. No kittens yet, though I have just spotted some movement on the side where I hadn't been able to feel anything before. So it looks like at least two coming.
