I have found the Christmas period a tough reminder of the loss of our Siamese boy cat. However I couldn't have coped without the support from The Litter Tray. In memory of all the dearly departed cats here is a photo of my boy. He was truly the bestest

Counting I know how you feel. My boy was only young, and it was sudden heart failure. He tried to take himself off to die under a hedge but he crawled back to be with me. He sadly died in my arms on the way to the emergency vet.

I just got a bit tearful thinking about it but new Bengal boy jumped on my lap which helped (although he is now humping a cushion ConfusedHmm)

Thanks for the Flowers. Nobby was a naughty little pest and my special mate. Loving looking at the pictures of the beautiful friends on this thread even though I know you are all sad too.

limited I'm glad the thread has helped. I honestly mean it when I say that I couldn't have got through the loss of my Siamese boy without the posters here (particularly Mantra and Cozie but also everyone else). I still think about my boy every day and I find it helps to have a place to talk to like minded cat lovers

We have had many a great cat over the years. I will always have a cat in the house and never last long without one. December 2015 we had to put our bruiser William or wilf as he was known to sleep. He was a rescue and the one who was blind in one eye & no one wanted. I'll be the first to admit he wasn't the best looking cat thats ever owned me but we called him handsome chappy all the time, he was funny old character. I found myself thinking about him around Christmas time and my daughter said she had been thinking of him too so they definitely leave their mark. Sorry for anyone whose been through this recently it's best to think of the lovely cosy home you gave them. I managed 3 weeks after wilf died as a catless house.

I've collected my little Cat's ashes from the vet and taken old boy for his vitamin injection. He's not putting on any weight but he's not losing any.
He seems a bit glum but I think the injection does hurt (into the muscle). Poor old fella!

I've got a couple of hours before the kids need picking up. I've deChristmassed the house. It usually feels nice and clean but it does feel rather bleak. Not much time for sadness. Later I've got to go and look after an elderly and poorly parent. I'm your typical middle-aged "sandwich" - young kids, elderly parent duties.

I lost my boy in August; he was ten years old and I was devastated. A few weeks later I was offered a poor little foster kitten who nearly died

I'm going to get his ashes next week wtffgs. I chose an urn in the shape of a curled up cat. He can sleep by the radiator.

I love it when they stretch out like that big. So happy and trusting.

Fancy Cat. We had to PTS two years ago and I miss her dreadfully.
She was 1/4 Siamese, 1/4 Persian and 1/2 farmyard bruiser.

When she came through the cat flap with something squeaky she would make this incredible, deep mer-owl mer-owl sound. On one such occasion, she gobbed her live rat onto the hearth rug and then retired through the cat flap, sticking her head back through every minute or so to cheer my husband on as he chased the rat around the sitting room with a toasting fork.

Completely adorable and at times an utter, utter bastard.

Fancypants that's hilarious! True 'cattitude' from your girl there. What a wonderful memory.

Grin at fancypants cat!

DCat's brother was crap challenged by hunting. For a while he would kill and bring us sticks. Then he moved up to earthworms! Envy He was a sandwich or two short of a picnic, that cat. Very fluffy and loveable though.

We lost our boy Hogan on Tuesday, heart broken. We collected his ashes today so feel that he is "home again".
I'm sorry for everyone's losses, beautiful cats. I'm still so so sad but I'm glad our boy is no longer in pain, hopefully in time we will be able to remember all the good times and not the awful way he went :(

Same day as me and Nobby InaMuddlepuddle. Glad you've got Hogan back. They promised it'll be next week and I'm sure they'll do it but I called them to make sure because I don't want them to lose him. I want him to be with me. It's not good enough but it's enough.

I'm sorry to hear that limited, it's so painful isn't it :(
We have found some small comfort in getting his ashes back, we've put him in the lounge along with his photo so he's watching over us.
I hope you get your boy back soon Flowers

My George who died suddenly without explanation on October 15th aged 6. I miss him so so much. My DH had a huge canvas printed of me and George for Christmas, saying that the house was empty without him. He has taken pride of place in my living room, but somehow it makes it feel worse. One of our youngest boys Teddy 18 months, has taken to asking for cuddles, but I feel very much like I am betraying George, Teddy was one of his least favorites.

I love your George. I had a George. Didn't look the same but I suspect they had the same personalities. I also understand your feeling of betrayal about Teddy.

If it's any help, I got Nobby when my mum died and I pretty much hated him. He was bitey and clingy and very fucking annoying. For about a month I looked after him to a decent minimum - clean litter, food, perfunctory strokes. He aggravated me beyond belief by jumping on me and yowling.

Then suddenly we just clicked. He never stopped being a little pest but that was his charm. We'd talk and go out for walks together, when it wasn't raining Smile and everyone loved him. He was such a happy little soul.

What I mean is that in time you might love Teddy and it won't feel like a betrayal

Sugarplum: it must have been heartbreaking to lose George at such a young age. He looks so contented in your picture.

It's very early days for you, no wonder you are still raw with the sense of loss. As limited says, I do hope in time you will overcome your feelings of betrayal and be able to take comfort in Teddy's affection. Flowers

Wtffgs our little girl cat can only hunt worms at the best of times. If not, she loves finding the little plastic coated wires used in packages. We call them her fake worms

I really feel for all of you struggling with loss, it does get better, I promise. It never goes away and it never should in my mind as otherwise it wouldn't reflect the close bond we have with cats. I was in a right state when Siamese boy died. I still have a little cry every now and then but finally I can appreciate the good times we had together. Sadly he passed away too young Sad
