Dh has got cheese on toast (with hendersons relish) for lunch. Our own little Attila is sat beside him demanding little titbits. He also waits (not patiently) to lick the butter off his crumpet plate at breakfast. He went bonkers at the smoked salmon and cream cheese. Little tubs.

Spongecat loves cheese. She recognises the noise of it being chopped in the kitchen, then comes and begs like a dog.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/12/2016 22:42

Polter, I think you'd better stock up
On a years supply of advent calendars or your are in big trouble come Boxing Day! GrinGrin

TheCakes · 21/12/2016 19:02

I made kiddo's sandwiches for his lunchbox today, left them on the side, turned round and they were on the floor, clingfilm removed, with Ozzy snaffling the tuna from the insides.

Broken11Girl · 21/12/2016 22:30

Ah yes, the whining if I open a can of tuna...Xmas Grin

Bogburglar75 · 21/12/2016 22:35

Toast and marmite. I'm often first up to catch early train to work, and Bogbastard and I will share a cup of tea and Marmite toast at 6.30am. The other day I had breakfast on the run owing to various factors. Later in the day he was hanging around with the definite expression of a cat who has missed out on something but can't quite remember what Grin

Melfish · 21/12/2016 22:44

Gannet cat likes crisps (especially Wotsits and Quavers), sliced ham or chicken and cheese. She has also helped herself to unattended cups of milk. Anyone going into the kitchen gets followed as there's always the hope of a snack or two. Official meals get piped in, although in a chorus of meows and howls rather than bagpipes, before getting hoovered up in less than a minute.

RubbishMantra · 22/12/2016 12:44

MCat's another one who loves Marmite/Vegemite. He doesn't eat the toast, just licks off the Vegemite. And tuna. He can hear me opening a can of that a mile off. Cue wailing and winding around legs until he gets a piece. Oh, mayonnaise, how could I have forgotten that, it's The Best Thing Ever. Oh, and coffee!

When Little M first came to us as a kitten, he wanted to try a bit of whatever we were eating, I mean everything and he had no manners, and would just stand on your plate and help himself. His breeder told me she caught him eating a greasy pizza box. He even wanted to try a peice of DH's apple once, ate it, and spat out the skin.

Now an adult, he's not arsed about human food at all and only interested in his biscuits. The only wet food he'll entertain is that bloody expensive Gourmet cat soup, with warm boiled water added, and the pieces chopped up really small. Doesn't like the Sheba one. Confused

ChristmasTreeCat · 22/12/2016 13:00

Our cat is currently desperately trying to nab a piece of ham sandwich from 4yo dd. She relentless!

Toddlerteaplease · 22/12/2016 14:55

Rubbish, you chop and warm his food?HmmGrin

GrinchyKiwi · 22/12/2016 15:08

The cats that live in our house like to steal cucumber, peppers and tomatoes from the children. I had a fight with one of them once when he was trying to filch cucumber from the toddler. They'll try anything once (one of them stole one of the cabbage leaves I had just taken out of my bra when I was engorged after my milk came in with DD3), but not cake.

They also strangely don't like sausage.

RubbishMantra · 22/12/2016 16:38

It's mad isn't it, Toddler?! But he just laps up the broth if I don't flake the tuna and cut the (tiny) prawns up!

A friend observed me getting their food ready, and she said, "Aw, it looks like you're making tea for your children!" I have no children. Well not human children. Grin

RubbishMantra · 22/12/2016 16:48

*... I also do the same with MCat's wet food, a cat that used to kill everything is sight, and eat their heads. I've noticed a lot of cats favour eating the brains. Like zombies.

MrsHathaway · 22/12/2016 16:58

HathCat1 likes to lick the saline out of the cases of DH's daily contact lenses.

This morning we came down to find raw chicken thighs all over the kitchen floor. They had found them defrosting on the side (sealed packet) and gone to work getting to the good stuff.

I blame DH. He bought the wrong wet food "for a change, because it was on offer" and they don't like it. And they cba to go hunting in this shitty weather. We live right at the end of our village, just off the farmer's fields, which the local cats keep relatively free of rabbits.

But HathCat1 is currently being a pillow for me on the sofa (poorly sick) so I forgive him everything.

They should market that Grinchy - " Human milk and cabbage soup. Because he's not just any cat, he's your cat."

Toddlerteaplease · 22/12/2016 18:20

Rubbish, i laughed at that at first, then thought I might try that with the girls Christmas dinner. They drink the broth / gravy but don't touch the meat.

RubbishMantra · 22/12/2016 18:54

Oh crap, didn't mean to trap you into a lifetime of cat slavery Toddler.

I even have a note sellotaped to their food box, explaining their preferences. Blush

RubbishMantra · 22/12/2016 19:01

Oh, and if you proceed into cat madness, like myself, this spoony choppy thing works well.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/12/2016 21:12

Rubbish, since they only have dry and never ever make a fuss. I think I can indulge them just this once!

notagiraffe · 22/12/2016 21:26

He jumped up twice, almost landing on the plates, for hairy bikers beef curry with rice tonight. The one he really can't resist is cereal. He has been known to shove his head into my bowl while I'm still eating.

RubbishMantra · 22/12/2016 23:44

Ooh, but it's a slippery and speedy slope, though Toddler. On bringing Little M home, he'd literally inhale his food. Same with MCat, but in his defense, DH was feeding him Go-Cat and Whiskas before they both moved in with me. DH lived off sausage, cheese, mustard and onion sandwiches, so the sort of human equivalent.

Tabbylady · 23/12/2016 09:58

Cat 1: hunts. Eats cat food. Like a normal cat.
Cat 2: turns nose up at outdoors, lies regally in her radiator bed until there's a hint of human food. Will try anything and everything. We can't have onions in the house now.
Today: icing a Christmas cake. Put the bowl down on a stool and seconds later there she was, head deep in the buttercream. Off to the shops now....

problembottom · 23/12/2016 14:11

My cat's favourite food is Wotsits. He doesn't like fresh fish or meat at all. He also likes eating spiders.

hollinhurst84 · 23/12/2016 14:12

Stable cat ate chicken and sweetcorn soup yesterday Confused
She's obsessed with ANY form of soup, sits by the microwave until it's hot then howls at you

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 25/12/2016 13:24

Mine is going a teeny bit bonkers at the proliferation of crunchy snackage, maple bacon tortIla's are the winner.

Oh, just remembered. When Little M was a kitten, he was entranced by flies and would do that teeth chattering thing at them. Sadly, he rarely caught one, but would follow me around the house gobbling them up as I swatted them. Didn't like blue-bottles though, just the normal house flies, preferably still moving a bit.
