Re-homing my beloved ZombieCats™

IamtheZombie · 08/12/2016 18:51

This is the thread I prayed I would never need to post. However...

I have terminal breast cancer and my prognosis is another few months if I'm lucky. I live alone with ZombieCatMaisie and ZombieCatTinkerbelle. They are 12 yo and 11yo.

Where do I begin to find them new homes? (They don't get along particularly well and would be happier apart.) Do I ask my vet? CPL? Local rescues?

I will check back periodically but I'm spending more time lying down (as that minimises my pain) than online these days.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Brian Thank you for posting on behalf of our Zombie.,
I have been in touch with a nutty couple from our area - they will happily take ZombieKitties on if closer homes aren't foundling

Of this isn't an options count me in on the finance / logistics to make this happen,

WelshMoth · 10/12/2016 00:24

Am slightly pissed - sorry.
Spelling isn't accurate but the sentiment is bang on.

MiddleClassProblem · 10/12/2016 00:48

This site works as a big of a data base for rescues big and small

Zombie Sad

I've followed all your threads but this one has made my eyes watery. I got so much comfort from them when my mam got poorly

DH says no cats but I'm sure I could LTB. Maybe not but I'm sure The litter Tray will sort something.

I'm north east and can drive (albeit badly) if needed and happy to donate if any funding is needed for travel.

All my love truly ❤️💫

There are so many touching comments. I'm sure your cats will find a very loving home(s). I'm in South Wales, but if I can help please ask. Flowers

GoTellTheBees · 10/12/2016 02:42

Zombie, Bees and her cats are sending all their love. 🐾🐾🐾

asmadasmax · 10/12/2016 03:23

So sorry Zombie .. I have three cats aleady so can't help in that way but happy to help with transport or contribute towards finance. I'm in south Wales too. Just let us know what we can do when you're feeling up to it. Please don't worry, it looks like lots of people will be able to help.

HandbagHelper · 10/12/2016 04:13

zombie I'm a long time lurker of your posts and you have always had so much love surrounding you on your posts. Hoping your furry friends find a loving home and that you are getting some rest. Flowers

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 10/12/2016 04:22

Oh Zombie. This thread breaks my heart for so many reasons. I am in Canada so not much help, but I know the lovely people of the Litter Tray will ensure that your fur babies are loved.

I wish you peace and strength in the coming weeks and months. And know that all of MN is doing the same. Flowers

cozietoesie · 10/12/2016 15:34

It looks as if there's at least one potential home for the zombiecats, anyway, if others aren't identified?

BrianCoxWithBellsOn · 10/12/2016 20:20

Hi everyone, I'm going to drop Zombie a message to see how things are and will report back if she's not up to it x

cozietoesie · 10/12/2016 20:38

Thanks, Brian.

EdithWeston · 10/12/2016 20:44

I'm mildly surprised that MNHQ have not offered to take them inn as (warring) office cats.

Where's Olivia when you need her?

BrianCoxWithBellsOn · 10/12/2016 21:20

Zombie has been trying to get a message together for the thread but tiredness is taking over. I've offered to make a few calls for her to local rescues and/or some of the charities mentioned on the thread, so just waiting (in your own time Zombie, no pressure - if you're reading) for the yay or nay from her.

I'm about 60-90 mins away from her, so not un-doable, but am very willing to coordinate/organise anything that may be of help.

Wolfiefan · 10/12/2016 21:26

Sending cwtches.
Another plug for the cinnamon trust. I believe they organise it as forever foster and even offer help with vet bills.

BrianCoxWithBellsOn · 10/12/2016 21:29

I will try them first then as so many have recommended them.

BrianCoxWithBellsOn · 10/12/2016 21:35

Zombie has asked me to hold fire for a few days in the hope she's able to sort this herself.

If there's any update I will let you all know xx

LisaMumsnet · 10/12/2016 21:43

Just to let you know IamtheZombie that we're all thinking of you at MNHQ and that we were very sorry to hear this sad news. We can see from this thread that your beloved cats will most definitely find new loving homes. Thanks so much everyone (in particular BrianCoxWithBellsOn) for all your kindness and helpful suggestions - this is what makes the Mumsnet community so special. Sending you much love, a hug and positive thoughts IamtheZombie.

JennyHolzersGhost · 10/12/2016 21:55

Zombie I have lurked on your threads for a while now. I'm so sorry it has come to this. Flowers you are inspiring.

Like other posters, I'm a cat owner who could squeeze another one into my life if it needed me. Anyone who is organising - please feel free to PM me. Am not local to Zomhie though.

exWifebeginsat40 · 10/12/2016 21:56

ohh what a thing to have to do. I'm sure the zombiecats will be happily grouchy and settled into old age soon.

I've never commented on one of your threads before, Zombie. sending you love and light for the journey ahead.

Weedsnseeds1 · 10/12/2016 22:03

I hope zombie can sort it herself, if not, then Brian, please let us all know what, if anything, needs to be done. I imagine she would probably like the Zombiecats with her over Christmas?

TiggyD · 10/12/2016 22:04

Sorry to hear your news Zombie.

I'm afraid I can't help with your cats. Do you have any cakes that need re-homing?

CloudPerson · 10/12/2016 22:09

Sorry to hear this Zombie. I hope this thread gives some comfort that your lovely cats will be well taken care of for you Flowers

AnguaResurgam · 10/12/2016 22:10

Cakes can, presumably, stay as they are food.

Cats have to be rehomed, as they need reliable and kind feeders. Before they scavenge on the undead.

Zombie: know you really don't want the gloomies. You should know by now that you'll have your pick of MN homes for the cats if no RL/charitable option turns up. So you don't need to worry about their well-being.
