Re-homing my beloved ZombieCats™

IamtheZombie · 08/12/2016 18:51

This is the thread I prayed I would never need to post. However...

I have terminal breast cancer and my prognosis is another few months if I'm lucky. I live alone with ZombieCatMaisie and ZombieCatTinkerbelle. They are 12 yo and 11yo.

Where do I begin to find them new homes? (They don't get along particularly well and would be happier apart.) Do I ask my vet? CPL? Local rescues?

I will check back periodically but I'm spending more time lying down (as that minimises my pain) than online these days.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

So sorry to read this zombie, take care Flowers

HemanOrSheRa · 08/12/2016 21:36

Hey Zombie I would gladly take one of your cats. If that is not possible then I would absolutely pay/contribute for/to the cost of their care if that allows them to go somewhere that you prefer.

As other Litter Trayers have said, DO NOT WORRY about your kitties. We can sort something out that will give you peace of mind.

Shriek · 08/12/2016 21:48

Just to send you strength for your challenges a most distressing point to reach. Lovely posyers here with much reassurance for you I hope.

Cinnamon trust do all this but you have full Litter Tray care and support to resolve too. Flowers Wine Cake

Zombie, I am so sorry to read this. I'm
In South Wales and if I can become a link in the chain to transport the ZombieKitties, then I will. Please don't worry about how this will get done, it WILL happen. I'm not on The Litter tray board, but count me in.
Zombie, I send you light and love.

Potentialmadcatlady · 08/12/2016 22:37

I'm so sorry Zombie and anything I can do to help I will...I'm not on the mainland incase that is of any help...I'm happy to help transport.. I have fosters, dog and kitten at min so won't be much help keeping one but I'm very happy to help transport and also have some connections to some good people who rehome/look after/foster cats and also know of a local good shelter that is no kill and has a unit for longer term cats where they could go if needed...please let me know if I can help in any way....

Zombie, you're not going to have to worry about your cats. At this rate they will be going to an MN home.

I'm so sorry it's come to this.

ElfOnMyShelf · 09/12/2016 10:03

Zombie, I'm so so sorry.
From one cat lover to another xxx
They hold a special cat shaped place in our hearts, they comfort us in our darkest hours, know us inside and out, yet still chose to be beside our sides!
There's been some fantastic advice here, it looks like there's no need to worry. When the time comes, they will be loved, hugged and warm.

SleepFreeZone · 09/12/2016 10:07

I too have followed the Zombie threads Flowers and wish you all the strength in the world.

You have had some lovely offers Zombie. We are nowhere near you (if the info here is correct), and you might prefer to go through a proper rehoming process rather than randomly selecting someone on mnet, but, the Beasts family would happily give a Zombie cat a home. We miss our feline friends after ours died of very old age a couple of years ago.

She would have to be able to cope with the attention from 'Beastdog' ....... who is happy to be ruled by cats.

What is it with these cats who grow up and live together, deciding along the way that they actually don't like each other - I have had four cats and apart from in kitten hood they all seemed to end up preferring the company of the dog!

I've heard from Zombie this morning and she has seen some of the thread, she is really touched (hope you don't mind me posting on your behalf Zombie my love!)

I'm sure when she feels up to it she will post here. We just need some details and I'm sure between us we can organise this for you. I know where she lives, but obviously won't shout it out! General Shropshire area is correct. So first stop is the rescue centres around there.

Grinshill is one I found on Google and there were a couple more listed up thread.

Obviously we need a rehoming centre with a no-kill policy, which rules the RSPCA out.

cozietoesie · 09/12/2016 13:24

Give her much love if you're in contact with her.

I'm judging - from her post - that she'll want to see the zombiecats well settled. The timing is ......difficult but we'll all pull together to put that in place. There's a question of who will do what, I suppose, but ease her mind that it will be done.

justanothermnuser · 09/12/2016 13:31

Oh Zombie, my advice would be speak with Cats Protection or vets. Take care of yourself x

MiddleClassProblem · 09/12/2016 13:32

Sending you so much Zombie love ❤️

Most rescue centres do a good job in asking the right questions to whoever their cats go home to. Ask them about their process and procedures and see who you are most comfortable with x

randomsabreuse · 09/12/2016 13:39

Definitely talk to your vets - they often rehome in house to staff and generally know people who might well be looking for older cats too.
