Has anyone ever collected a cat from Manchester airport?

My cousin has been trying to rehome a gorgeous cat in Dubai for 6 months. And his best chance of a home is over here. He's probably going to be flown into Manchester. I will Collect him and take him to a wonderful rescue in Yorkshire. Where hopefully he will find a forever home. Just wanted to know the procedure for pick up.
Ps I don't really agree with bringing cats from abroad as we have enough in rescues already. But his story has broken my heart and I just want to help him.

No but I need more pictures of him! Your sister must me a lovely person to go to so much trouble for him.

Buggers · 07/07/2016 19:41

His gorgeous and well done to your sister for doing such a kind thingGrin.

cozietoesie · 07/07/2016 19:43

He's a wonderful lad. Smile

How is his hearing?

cozietoesie · 07/07/2016 19:46

PS - with only one blue eye, it's about twice as likely to be OK as not. Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 07/07/2016 21:18

I believe his hearing is ok. He was found with a broken hip (probably been kicked) and had to have his tail amputated. He apparently was an absolute darling but had become a miserable recluse. It's so sad. I am desperate for him to find a new home. He had a failed adoption as the original cat didn't like him. My cousin couldn't keep him as her cats also didn't like him. He's apparently fine with other cats though. Poor boy. He breaks my heart. Haven't got any more pictures. If any one on here fancies adopting him??

Ahhhh, he looks just like my cat! Hope he finds a good home. If I wasn't about to have a baby and dh have recently told me new pets are off the table, I'd be tempted...

PestoSwimissimos · 08/07/2016 11:21

I'd have him, but I live on the South Coast.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 08/07/2016 12:40

Please don't tempt me! I keep thinking Harry might want a little brother or sister as I'm worried he gets bored. I'm in the South East so it wouldn't be easy though (probably a good thing!).

What's his name?

cozietoesie · 08/07/2016 12:45

It might be safer to rehome him as a singleton. I'd guess he doesn't need another failed adoption.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/07/2016 15:26

His name is Jamie Hendrix. He's 1.5 years old. Apparently the failed adoption has really knocked his confidence as he was really cheeky and affectionate, but is just very sad now. Apparently the introductions with the original cat were done to quickly.

Oh I'm so crossing my fingers for you both! I'm glad he's over here now though. I think I'd try and get him somewhere as an only in case of another failed adoption.

Good luck - he's beautiful.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 08/07/2016 15:35

(Pesto - he's come from Dubai, I bet a trip to the South Coast from Manchester would be a piece of piss for him Wink. You know you want to!)

Lucky puss

Shameless place mark

Toddlerteaplease · 08/07/2016 15:59

Pesto. Am sure we could sort something out! He's not hear yet. Awaiting confirmation of the flight date. Cousin is going to email more pictures.

I wonder if he has Van cat in him (given his origins) ?

RubbishMantra · 08/07/2016 17:25

Ooh, Vans, they're the swimming cats aren't they.

He's a stunner, I bet he finds a home in no time.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/07/2016 17:28

I hope so. I can't bare it! My only concern is that the rescue he is going to is one that specialises in Persians. So he will have a bit of competition. Hoping his his good looks will work in his favour. However I know that he will be well looked after and they will never stop trying to find him a home and if they can't, he'd probably stay with them as other cats who can't be rehomed do. They are amazing. I had my girls from them

As far as I am aware, because the UAE is part of the pet passport scheme, then pets can only be flown into the UK with their registered owners. I know this because I live out there and we have tried (and failed) to send a rescue cat to England to live with my dad.

They either have to travel on the same flight as their owners, or the owner has to take a flight within (I think) 3 days.

I think there are ways around it - your sis can find an expat who is flying home for the summer, and register the cat to them and they can act as a flight buddy to import it. You need to look into it a bit more.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/07/2016 17:41

Apparently it's all sorted. But the thing that does concern me is that he needs to be linked to a ticket five days either side. Apparently no one ever checks. That worries me!

Please keep us updated Toddler. He's absolutely gorgeous and I would genuinely have him if I could.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/07/2016 22:18

I will. And will post pics as soon as I get them
