Help please poorly kitten

My 6mth old kitten (Teddy) has been vomiting white frothy liquid since Sat night. Took him to vet yesterday (because I was concerned about the stuff DH had put on the lawn last week) she examined him and did bloods but apart from slightly raised temperature everything was normal. She gave him an injection to help the nausea and he tried to eat a tiny bit of fish last night.
He was sick again last night but nothing since the only thing is he's still not interested in food. He is drinking a little and weeing so that's good but he is sleeping a lot and looking very sorry for himself.
Is there anything I can do/get him to help his tummy and tempt him to eat. Tried steamed fish and chicken and all his favorites but no interest so far.
We (Teddy and me) would be very grateful for any ideas. Thanks Here he is a week or so ago x

Make like 'business as usual' for him. He should get the message.

The odd lick of 'personal' bits is to be expected and I wouldn't worry about it. It's the 'worrying' of a wound that would have concerned me.

He sounds to be in good shape this morning. Smile

anoldiebutagoody · 20/01/2017 11:54

Yes cozie, he's stretched out on the carpet ( always think it's a good sign when they are stretched out) so he's relaxed again now I'm in my house clothes 😀
He was very good with his tummy scar when he had the biopsies so don't think he'll go overboard with the licking.
He's hungry again so I'll do him some more chicken in a bit, with it being liquidised there's probably not so much protein per tummy full, as I have to add water to it to get it to the right consistency.

Well.......He's still an invalid of sorts. Wink Lots of liquid is no bad thing - and if it has some nourishment as well?

I hope his mouth seems to be not too troublesome.

cozietoesie · 21/01/2017 20:23

How did the lad get on overnight? Smile

anoldiebutagoody · 22/01/2017 10:14

Think he's feeling a lot better cozie, he managed to launch himself from my bed onto the windowsill this morning, because the birds chirruping in the eaves were annoying him, but he missed first time landed on the ottoman below and tore one of my vertical blinds in half in the process Hmm.
He's still eating OK, he's actually trying to chew the solids left after he's licked most of the liquid off, he will have the Metacam daily until Tuesday then every 2 days then 3 etc until we try him without it . He's not taking much notice of his rear end other than normal cleaning routine.
He still looks at me very safely when I go into the bedroom and he's on the bed, he is waiting for me to grab him and put him in the carrier, bless him. He'll just be starting to relax by Tuesday and I'll have to do it again 😥 .

That sounds good. His 'personal area' sounds as if that's more or less done with now - but then I think that that was always going to be an issue of the GA and possible stress wasn't it? And it sounds as if you got away with those? Smile

Good luck with his mouth and his next visit on Tuesday. Let us know how it goess?

anoldiebutagoody · 24/01/2017 15:46

Post op check with Lisa went well, his gums are just about healed and his back end is fine. He's starting to chew again and has put nearly all the weight he lost the week before the op, back on so now 4.07kg. Smile
It seems that both she and Fran (other vet) operated on him at the same time as everyone Fran came across another tooth that needed to come out she asked Lisa if I would be OK with it, to which Lisa said he was sure that if it was needed I'd be fine.
He's been scratching his left ear (thought it might be something to do with his teeth) but all Lisa could see was a bit of wax so she cleared that out.
Lisa is very pleased with his progress, we are now going to start the reduction of the Metacam, so every 3rd day for 2 weeks then 4 and so on until it's nothing. This is the only way we are going to find out if the teeth were the cause of his problems, so keep your fingers crossed for him please.
The only downside is that he's turned into grumpy cat once he's on the table Grin no hissing or scratching, just ears down and won't stand up to be looked at, don't blame him really.

cozietoesie · 24/01/2017 15:53

No. I don't blame him either! Wink

Good news so far, though.

cozietoesie · 24/01/2017 15:56

PS - if Seniorboy came in at 4 kg, the practice would be removing the scales as wildly inaccurate. That's not a bad weight at all for him given his age and history. Smile

cozietoesie · 24/01/2017 15:58

PPS - time for new pictures soon, I reckon? Smile

Strewth! Haven't they both grown up!!!!!

Such handsome lads, the pair of them!

Thanks for the pics!

cozietoesie · 25/01/2017 12:22

Great pics. What a handsome pair. Smile

anoldiebutagoody · 26/01/2017 09:19

They're a bit like Laurel and Hardy, Bobby's tall and sleek with satin smooth fur and Teddy's stockier with very thick soft fur and short legs 😀, they are very good friends.

They are beautiful cats and I bet they know it!

cozietoesie · 03/02/2017 13:44

Is he still on the Metacam?

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/02/2017 13:47

He's so big now! Proper bruiser.

cozietoesie · 03/02/2017 13:53

4kg is certainly big to me. Smile Maybe not to others but then he's still a young cat.

anoldiebutagoody · 03/02/2017 22:14

Teddy's doing OK, he's been back on a lower dose of Metacam four 4 days to see if it will sort out his left ear, Lisa thought it might be a little inflammation which the Metacam should help. Before the last 4 days he was on normal dose e dry 4 days as when it got to the third day when he was supposed to have it, he didn't seem to need it so I added on a day. We will go back to every 4th day on Tuesday, then Saturday then hoping to add a couple more days or stop. I have to speak to Lisa on Monday so will see what she thinks.
Teddy is eating well and chasing/ playing with Bobby every day, literally chasing each other around the house like nutcases.
He didn't want the food I gave him yesterday and I wondered if he was starting to suffer with his tummy again, but he was just being fussy as he wolfed the food down today 😀it was obviously more to his taste than yesterday's. There's little doubt that they are overfed so I'm only feeding them if they come into the kitchen at mealtimes, rather than calling them for food.
Teddy still takes ages to eat his food as he has trouble picking up the food without his front teeth, he sort of licks it up, but he gets there eventually and Bobby's finally got the message that he's not to intimidate Teddy into letting him have what he hasn't managed to eat by the time Bobby's finished his.
All in all things are going well, Teddy's even putting up with being stroked more-keep your fingers crossed for him that it continues ☺

Is it wet food he's on?

anoldiebutagoody · 03/02/2017 22:36

Yes, he has always been on shredded steamed chicken breast(homemade) with one of the "sensitive" pouches, was RCanin but he went off two of theirs, so now he's on Purina sensitive.
Today for a change he had chicken breast with a small tin of Applaws chicken fillet, back to normal tomorrow. I'm waiting another couple of months for his gums to harden before offering dry food although there's usually some left in Bobby's dish if he decides to be adventurous.
He can manage Harrington's treats but they aren't as hard as most and I break them in half for him.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 03/02/2017 22:53

I'd have thought his gums would be pretty OK by now. I'll be interested to see how he does on the 'normal' food.

Lots of luck to him. Smile

anoldiebutagoody · 03/02/2017 23:02

When I said normal I meant back to the chicken and Purina but when he came from the rescue he was on Felix, but when he started with his tummy problems Lisa changed him to sensitive food. I mention it to her on Monday and see what she says. I think I would prefer to get him off the Metacam for a few weeks first, then change back to normal food, so probably around D Easter time.

cozietoesie · 03/02/2017 23:11

Well if he has had/does have You Know What, he won't be unique to have lasted so long but he will be one of a very small number of cats. He!s a real scrapper - and you and Lisa have done him proud. Smile
