Help please poorly kitten

My 6mth old kitten (Teddy) has been vomiting white frothy liquid since Sat night. Took him to vet yesterday (because I was concerned about the stuff DH had put on the lawn last week) she examined him and did bloods but apart from slightly raised temperature everything was normal. She gave him an injection to help the nausea and he tried to eat a tiny bit of fish last night.
He was sick again last night but nothing since the only thing is he's still not interested in food. He is drinking a little and weeing so that's good but he is sleeping a lot and looking very sorry for himself.
Is there anything I can do/get him to help his tummy and tempt him to eat. Tried steamed fish and chicken and all his favorites but no interest so far.
We (Teddy and me) would be very grateful for any ideas. Thanks Here he is a week or so ago x

There will likely be people round here to talk to. Smile I know how you feel. (Seniorboy didn't have a possible dose of You Know What to contend with but he was a very much older boy at the time.)

Gobbelino · 17/01/2017 20:09

Oh I'll be thinking of him Thursday! Please do keep us updated and me and my GobbeCats will keep all our paws and fingers crossed for him xx

TimeIhadaNameChange · 19/01/2017 09:13

Good luck, Teddy!

cozietoesie · 19/01/2017 09:46

Yes Indeed. Lots of luck. Smile

Gobbelino · 19/01/2017 10:51

Good luck today Teddy! xx

Spoke to Lisa this morning when I dropped Teddy off, she has discussed the procedures with a colleague and will do both the teeth and the neutering today. So he'll be feeling pretty miserable for a couple of days I'm sure, at least he won't have constant toothache.
He really didn't know why I was leaving him there and definitely didn't want to be there, bless him.
They'll ring me as soon as it's over & I can go and get him, probably this afternoon.

We'll see how much time she has, eh? I doubt he'll realise, though. He'll have those lovely pain meds - and the thought of the combined toothache he might have been having, makes me wince!

Let us know how he does?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/01/2017 12:44

Good luck to him today Flowers

A side effect of metacam is increased appetite which is also why he's eating more after he's had it. My girl who had FIP (didn't know at the time as it was dry and not the usual symptoms) wasn't eating until she was on Metacam, then she was stuffing her face and drinking loads. She was small her whole life but seemed happy and healthy until she started having seizures one day. Have they checked the Coronavirus levels again? I don't want to worry you but FIP was ruled out for my girl and we were told she was epileptic.

I hope you get to the bottom of it really soon, it's awful when they are poorly but you don't know exactly why :(

Recovery nurse just phoned, Teddy is coming round fine and I can collect him at 5pm. He's having fluids so they want him to go isn't those before he comes home.
I'll see Lisa when I collect him.

That's great news! Only 45 minutes to go. Thanks for the update!

cozietoesie · 19/01/2017 16:27

Well done that lad. Smile

cozietoesie · 19/01/2017 17:00

Lisa is probably exhausted.

anoldiebutagoody · 19/01/2017 18:32

We're home ! He's already taken the bandage off his leg, wouldn't let me do it and he's had some liquidised chicken. He is bright eyed and bushy tailed and obviously happy to be home.
Didn't see Lisa when I picked him up as she was tied up with an emergency so I saw her colleague who had assisted with Teddy's treatment.
As I expected they took all teeth apart from the canines, she said that when they examined the back teeth, one practically fell out and the other was very loose & decayed. They came out easily root intact, so there was minimal damage to his gums and she expects they will recover well and now that the teeth are gone they should no longer look like they are bruised.
They did the neuter which was also straightforward although she reckons Teddy won't think so 😁
Lisa and she spoke about taking bloods to measure the Coronavirus titre and postpone the neuter until we had the results, but didn't see what it would achieve as even if it had reduced it probably wouldn't have been a huge reduction given the timescale, so decided to go ahead with the neuter and keep it as stress free as possible & only I anaesthetic. To help with the stress she said he was on his own in recovery so didn't have any other cats to deal with, Feliway plugins everywhere and he seemed quite chilled, so fingers crossed.
Post Op check up Tuesday afternoon.

Sounds good so far. Smile Did they do any bloods while he was out?

cozietoesie · 19/01/2017 18:37

Remind me - will he have to have the implant out come August or does it sort of 'melt away'? Smile

Gobbelino · 19/01/2017 18:50

Great news and well done Teddy and Lisa! So happy to hear that he's doing well and it went as smoothly as possible - I'm eagerly awaiting more news on Tuesday! Flowers for you and a Star for Teddy Smile

anoldiebutagoody · 19/01/2017 19:14

No they didn't do blood, cozie, I'll need to ask Lisa on Tuesday about it, Fran her colleague also a vet said that they thought of doing them and postponing the neutering but decided against it.
As I understand it the implant just melts away, I'll check that too on Tuesday.
He's definitely not completely relaxed yet but he has just come into the living room and is sat on the carpet having a bit of a wash, he wants more food but he's had a dishful already and I don't want him being sick, I'll give him some more in a couple of hours time.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 19/01/2017 19:24

Well he's had a big procedure so I wouldn't be surprised at all that he hadn't relaxed completely. He ought to sleep well though. Smile

How has Bobby been with him since his return? (He may smell of V.E.T.)

TimeIhadaNameChange · 19/01/2017 20:02

Sounds good! Am impressed he's already eaten. Not surprised he's not totally relaxed, he prob feels uncomfortable, especially down there, even with the pain meds. Hope Bobby's ok with him being back and that Teddy manages to snooze well tonight.

anoldiebutagoody · 19/01/2017 20:27

Bobby's been fine but he's pretty laid back anyway. When Teddy got out of the carrier, Bobby went up to him and when Teddy walked away he had his tail up so Bobby had a quick sniff at his rear end and wasn't impressed 😀
I gave in and gave him a bit more food he's now sitting in the living room watching "Spy in the Wild" on BBC and has just jumped up onto the unit to try to catch one of the birds on the screen.
They are both quite put out that I've locked the cat flap.

cozietoesie · 19/01/2017 21:01

If he starts to feel rambunctious with the lack of pain, you may find that you have a bit of a live wire on your hands. That Discipline Train may already have left the station! Wink

anoldiebutagoody · 19/01/2017 23:06

Flipping heck now he's rolling on the floor trying to get Bobby to play with him 😱

cozietoesie · 19/01/2017 23:19

GA makes them behave stupidly sometimes. Sometimes.

Try to lower the level of stimulation (lower lighting, watch a movie, read a book etc) and up the heat. If you have a gas fire, put that on. Maybe he'll become sleepy.

'Maybe'. Grin

Has he shown any signs of interest in his wounds?

anoldiebutagoody · 20/01/2017 10:08

He settled on to the windowsill in his favourite place last night after having some more food I'M m glad to say.
Well he's still seems fine this morning, I could hear them both running about around 5.30 onwards, Teddy had 1.5 bowls of liquidised food this morning about 8am and had his medicine no problem. He is licking his bits a little but his mouth doesn't seem to bother him in the same way, however Lisa did say Metacam was particularly good for mouth pain when I was speaking to her a while ago.
He's pretty alert, I'm about to go to do the weekly food shop and have changed my clothes and he's just run away from me out of the cat door and won't come back in, he obviously thinks another visit to the vet is on the agenda.☺
