She's a boy isn't she...... (pic of kitten's bits)

Kitten is 13 weeks old, when I got her she was a girl, called Betsy - we've since changed her name to Tikka, but never actually really checked despite ginger girls not being as common Blush

She's also been to the vets quite a few times, but not sure if they check as standard or not? Anyway, I think she might be growing balls. Any experts on cats' bits around to take a look? Blush

I'd say that was a boy but you really need Lone on this one - she can sex a kitten out of the corner of her eye while making supper! Maybe she'll see the thread later.

Ginger girls aren't as uncommon as they once were by the way. About 75/25% boy to girl now if I recall.

Smile

I'm now wondering if Tikka is a masculine enough name for a boy! (Although it's a bit more manly than Betsy!)

Wait for an expert and see. Grin

possum18 · 23/03/2016 00:32

Tikka is a cute name! I think boy..

expatinscotland · 23/03/2016 00:32

Yeah, looks like veg there.

We got a hamster called Melissa last month. He's Chris now, and he has huge baws.

EleanorAbernathy · 23/03/2016 00:43

He's so pretty though Grin
Same think happened with 11 year old cat, you'd think I'd look more closely! Next door have one that went the other way, she's called Oscar.

Show us his/her gorgeous face! But yes, I would say nuts Grin.

DramaAlpaca · 23/03/2016 01:03

Looks like a boy to me Smile

Our ginger boy's mum was also ginger, and two friends have ginger girls. So there are definitely a few around.

torthecatlady · 23/03/2016 01:04

My Gilbert (ginger tom) looks suspiciously like that in his nether region Grin
He was neutered, but what's left looks like that!
Tikka is a brilliant name!

EleanorAbernathy · 23/03/2016 01:05

Here's her ... ummm his.... front!

Swoon!
That little pink nose!

Rollypoly100 · 23/03/2016 01:08

What a cutie!

DramaAlpaca · 23/03/2016 01:09

Aww, he/she is adorable!

dubdurbs · 23/03/2016 01:15

Dots for boy kittens, and dashes for girls, that's how we sex the litters we've had at home. You can't definitively tell until they're a few weeks old, though, I think my own cat was nearly 7 weeks before we could tell she was a girl!

MsMims · 23/03/2016 01:17

Definitely a boy. He's lovely!

HemanOrSheRa · 23/03/2016 01:21

Love That Face! Smile Squeee! I still say boy though. Tikka is a lovely name for a ginger cat whatever sex. Many, many years ago we called our Ginger tom..... Ginger Grin.

EleanorAbernathy · 23/03/2016 01:39

S/he is currently snuggled up on my chest purring :)

Isn't this the kitten I said was a boy & everyone said don't be silly it's obviously a girl?.

😹

At least neutering will be cheaper now. Our cat has had three names & learnt his last one very quickly at 17 weeks.

Lonecatwithkitten · 23/03/2016 07:42

Most definitely a boy.

On another point I have never understood this ginger females are less common stuff, the vast majority of ginger cats I see are female Hmm.

EleanorAbernathy · 23/03/2016 08:15

Fluffy I didn't post a pic of the back end before! Grin

I've broken the news to DP who was adamant he didn't want a male cat because they're arseholes - he said "wow he might get really big then!"

He's still going to be called Tikka (kitten, not DP....) .I suppose I'd better amend the microchip details. Blush

Well the change in proportions might just be down to a handful of........very active .........ginger cats who are fraternising wildly around the place. Maybe they mostly live in your neck of the woods, Lone? Grin

cozietoesie · 23/03/2016 09:06

If you think of the name as Tikker rather than Tikka, it suddenly feels more masculine.

I think it's a great name. Smile

EleanorAbernathy · 23/03/2016 11:17

I've now broken the news to Tikka that he isn't a girl, he doesn't seem particularly bothered! He goes by "Teeks" or "The Squeaker" most of the time anyway Grin

Cutey Grindefinitely looks like boy bits. I always assume gingers are toms anyway, I know it's fairly unusual to get ginger girls.

cozietoesie · 23/03/2016 11:34

1 in 4 these days, apparently. (The proportion is changing with the years.)

Unless you work in Lone's practice of course. Grin
