Why would a cat change its behaviour (mines being affectionate!)

Not that I'm complaining. But this is weird!!

He's hanging around me a lot. If he does wander off he comes back meows at me from the door (I'm sitting in the kitchen reading) runs over to me an jumps on the chair next to me an bunts me lots. He's just sat on my lap too. He is most certainly NOT a lap cat. Last time he did that he was about 6months. (That was just over a year ago)

I was do taken aback I took a photo!!

But seriously why would be be acting like this. I feel bemused and discombobulated.

Maybe that's his plan. 🙀😸

Me too Queen , though today, and yesterday he drank his normal amount. Kidneys or diabetes would be constant drinking would it? I'm certainly watching him though.

Woke up this morning and he was lying over my legs. I then told DH about this thread and what the evil posters suggested. He is booking himself in for the snip ...

Our girl had kidney disease and her excessive drinking was pretty sporadic.

Ah crap really?

I don't know what his weeing is like because he goes in the garden. Pretty much a litter tray refuser since he gave up on laps.

How's it going?

fredericofoofoo · 20/01/2016 13:11

My cat similar to yours and would only come in to eat and sleep and not very affectionate.

In the last couple of weeks, since the cold snap, he is in more often and wants fussing. Barring a miracle, too old, steralised and not DTD for over 6 months, then I'm not pregnant so I would put it down to the weather :)

My mum's really unsocial scaredy cats became really friendly to me when I was pregnant - it started before I knew I was, when it was too early to test. After I found out I remember thinking 'well the cats knew'! Could be anything but I hope it's a baby something good! Please let us know.

Is he cold? IS he jealous of someone? Has he had some kind of frightening experience recently?

Moln · 20/01/2016 17:15

There is a Tom that is a right bully (think he's owned though or I'd trap and get him neutered.)

My cat has been ignoring me again today, though been on my lap a few times. He'd drank a lot when I came in today also, about 150ml in the morning in other words. Not eaten as much as usual.

I've put down a fresh bowl of water now (I've worked out it is 200ml in there) if he drinks that before tonight I think I'll be calling my vet

Is he on wet or dry food? If he's on wet then the 150ml is already more than he should need.

Moln · 20/01/2016 18:10

Dry. With the occasional bit if meat (at least weekly).
