Why would a cat change its behaviour (mines being affectionate!)

Not that I'm complaining. But this is weird!!

He's hanging around me a lot. If he does wander off he comes back meows at me from the door (I'm sitting in the kitchen reading) runs over to me an jumps on the chair next to me an bunts me lots. He's just sat on my lap too. He is most certainly NOT a lap cat. Last time he did that he was about 6months. (That was just over a year ago)

I was do taken aback I took a photo!!

But seriously why would be be acting like this. I feel bemused and discombobulated.

Maybe that's his plan. 🙀😸

The last year bit was after he'd been in a cattery. When we got home he ran around then sat on my lap, for about 30 seconds!! He wasn't all face rubbing and meows though!

I swear if one more person says pregnancy. (mNHQ please note we need a glaring little yellow face thing.)

Let us know the results of the test?

(See - I didn't say the word. Grin)

Moln · 15/01/2016 19:30

Hmmmm

You'll all have to wait a week.

Mine gets all affectionate when she's ill (fleas, infected cat bite, worms).

Sorry - I ruined the flow of pregnancy comments there.

Moln · 15/01/2016 19:41

Actually have a pound land test in the house. But it's redonkulously early to test.

I'm actually more concerned he's ill now. Especially with yesterday's water intake.

Yes he's eating. Food hasn't changed.

As for changes in the house it was busy here over Christmas and we were all here. It's all been back to normal for the last week and a half. That means he's on his own till about 2/3 each weekday. He is staying in more - since just before Christmas - I put it down to the rain though. A lot of sitting looking out the cat flap going out and them coming back in again. Prior to that he went out a LOT. Either the rain, and now cold, or the unneutered Tom putting him off.

Yep, I was going to suggest pregnant too!

Moln · 15/01/2016 20:29

Er hum. Excuse me. Less of that.

My cats weren't really that different when I was pregnant, apart from one of them looking very confused when they could see the bump moving in the later stages. They are however super cuddly when it's cold.

Moln · 15/01/2016 20:54

Theselittlelights and MagpieCursedTea are my favourite posters by the way. They are very wise.

What's the temperature outside by the way?Wink

Moln · 15/01/2016 21:46

It's zero degrees Celsius right now (feels like -4 apparently). This morning was -1 (felt like -6).

Quite cold overall.

I had two cats when I fell pregnant with dc1. At that point one of the cats became obsessed with my feet. Wherever my feet were the cat was on them. In bed, sitting down, even if I stood still for a couple of seconds, eg stirring something on the hob.

As soon as dc1 was born, his interest with my feet disappeared.
2.5 yrs later the obsession started again. Initially I thought it was cute and comical. Then the realisation came to me that I could be pregnant. Lo and behold the cat was right. And the same thing happened with him losing interest as soon as I gave birth.

2.5yrs later, the cat became interested in my feet again. I had no other pregnancy symptoms. Hadn't been planning on getting pregnant. Wasn't even late with period. The only reason i did a pregnancy text was to prove it to dh. Dc3 is 7 now!

Clever cat.

Of course all of our stories don't mean that your cat is also a living pregnancy indicator. Just out of interest, how would another child suit you op? Grin

gamerchick · 16/01/2016 12:58

Mine only comes to me when she's cold and even then when I'm asleep so she can curl up on my boobs. She's most definitely not a lap cat.

Is there another cat about? A smidge of insecurity maybe.

I am watching this thread!!

QueenStromba · 16/01/2016 15:41

I'd be concerned about his kidneys or diabetes with that much water intake.

ZappDingbat · 16/01/2016 15:58

Cozie- you may be right, but I suspect it will just be full of pictures of a 3/4 month old baby anyway! Smile
