Hi all,

This subject has probably been done lots of times so apologies in advance. Got a home check tomorrow for an indoor cat who we haven't actually met yet. What should I expect to be looked at and what questions may I be asked?

So far I have answers to where the cat would eat and use litter tray, where it could have privacy in first few weeks, what vets I may sign up to, feeding schedule, what I'm going to buy etc. can anybody think of anything else?

Thank you

He doesn't sound great but at least she's been looked at and is now on medication - hopefully it will clear up, sure it will.

The silver living of being sent to all these approved vets is that you know which ones you don't want to use, and what to ask / look out for when you choose one nearer to home.

Well we are now on day 3 of the drops. She's not too keen but we are managing. She's cleaning it a little herself so not having to do as much wiping. It's still not looking too much better but hard to tell what 'normal' is. We go back Friday for a follow up anyway so hopefully they will be able to tell if it's improved.

She's staked her claim to our bed and usually sleeps either at our feet, side, or like last night in between us under the covers! She wakes me up in the middle of the night by bumping her nose on mine, I'm not getting much sleep she's worse than a baby!

Sweet!

MrsMoggy · 04/03/2016 20:33

Been back for follow up tonight. He said it was improving and the original injury looked to be healing a bit more. We have to finish the drops we've already got and keep an eye on it, it's gonna be one of those things throughout her life where sometimes it will need a bit of medical help but never be perfect. It is considerably less gunky and open wider now

Like she's always been here. She's getting cheekier pushing the boundaries. Seems ok on her food, poos not so bad as they were at beginning. Back using hooded tray which is good as she's a flinger of litter.

Very good with my son and tolerates him bouncing about etc and always acts pleased to see him. Still likes our bed and wants to get under the cover with us. Has an unhealthy fondness for biting my husbands armpit??

She also gets hair everywhere doesn't matter how often I groom it just sheds off her all over the place. Me and the Hoover are almost surgically attached ha

Glad the eye is a bit better. She sounds very settled. My cat used to get under the covers too - curled up against my stomach. Now he sits on my chest Smile He also absolutely loves nuzzling my DH's armpit and he loves DH's t-shirts after they've been worn, he must like the smell, strange creature! He is the same colour as Nora so we too have white cat hairs over absolutely everything, I have given up trying to pick them off my clothes!

MrsMoggy · 04/03/2016 21:22

Her current position on the sofa :)

Glad to know we aren't the only ones covered in hair and protecting our armpits haha

She did try and eat my ponytail last night in bed and took offence to my scarf Tassels and was trying to attack them this afternoon. She's not as innocent as she looks!

Well we've had the little lady for 3 weeks now. She's a right tinker. Leaps on our heads at 4am, fights with her toys and any wires, flings her food around, Hoovers up any food left out by my 3 year old.

We are still using up the eye drops and having to wipe sometimes. Hard to tell if it will resolve itself or not.

She's really pretty MrsM - you sound very fond of her?

MrsMoggy · 13/03/2016 22:53

Best bit is how she is with my son she is so patient with him. With me sometimes if I stroke her she will play fight, nipping my hands etc but she never tries that with him just lets him pat her and wanders off when she's had enough. He asks her for a kiss and she bumps noses with him. And she always greets him when he gets back from preschool. Tonight he's in our bed as he had an accident at the park and she's come and seen him then taken herself to the end of the bed when normally she'd be fighting us to get into our bed and under the covers and messing about. Like she knows he needs gentle treatment. Love her.

She also loves the bathroom. She's nearly fell down toilet a few times and likes to pace up and down the bath and lick the shower screen. Have to keep her away from the potty too!

She sounds lovely, very inquisitive. I always had to keep the loo seat down when my cat was young Grin

That's too cute! Grin She sounds like a very special lady and a wonderful fit for your family.

MrsMoggy · 04/04/2016 16:03

Just dropping in to say things are still going well so far, we've had Nora more than a month now. She's changed her taste in food and is pretty much only eating dry now. She's spoilt rotten, the cupboard is full of dreamies given to her by extended family members.

She still has a weepy eye but not had to go back to the vet so far. She's been a bit snotty but that seems to be clearing up. She's very tolerant of my now 4 year old son and we had my 10 month old niece over the other day and she put up with much swatting in the face and fur grabbing from little hands!

I do keep wondering where Callie ended up and hoping she's ok in new home!

She looks lovely and seems to be wrapping you all round yet tiny paw!

Have you looked at vets yet? I see you are in my neck if the woods... We use the nantwich vets hospital which has two branches - one on the second roundabout nr to churches mansions in nantwich and one just round the corner from me on Macon Way in Crewe. They are lovely and we can't fault any of them.

We have a twenty year old lady puss and she is as fit as a fiddle - they make a big fuss of her and she doesn't seem phased by them

MrsMoggy · 04/04/2016 17:14

We are registered with vets4pets in pets at home at the minute. We hopefully won't need anything doing until annual jabs which aren't due til January. Just find it convenient being inside the store and they are cheaper than a lot of other places it seems . Thanks for the tip though will bear it in mind if we don't get on with vets4pets
