Hi all,

This subject has probably been done lots of times so apologies in advance. Got a home check tomorrow for an indoor cat who we haven't actually met yet. What should I expect to be looked at and what questions may I be asked?

So far I have answers to where the cat would eat and use litter tray, where it could have privacy in first few weeks, what vets I may sign up to, feeding schedule, what I'm going to buy etc. can anybody think of anything else?

Thank you

She's lovely! Beautiful markings-I take it she's not hiding? Grin

She's having a good look round and trying to leap the stairgate to get upstairs for a nosy too. She's already wolfed down a whole pouch of wet food and some dry. She loves toys.

When she's right up close to us she's a bit shy but she's only been home an hour so that's to be expected. She's jumped in hooded litter tray to have a look and tried to smell my sons feet the mad thing. She runs and leaps randomly too

Yay she gorgeous! Such a pretty face! Sounds like she's settling in well Smile

MrsMoggy · 21/02/2016 19:14

She's going to be a food monster I think. And I'm going to need to buy more toys!

Sparklingcat loves to chase a drinking straw about and like to carry about the cardboard from the inside of loo rolls.
Hopefully once your new cat has sniffed everywhere she will leave it all alone. Grin

Where's she sleeping tonight?

MrsMoggy · 21/02/2016 19:25

I've just found her in my husbands golf bag. Crazy lady.

Ive already got kitchen roll tube and will be saving up loo roll ones and bits of paper to scrunch.

She's got her bed and food and litter bits in the living room.
But she can have access to our bedroom as well. The way the doors work in our house we can shut her out of every room other than those two at night if we want. She can squeeze through the stairgate so she can get upstairs anyway whatever we do as there's no door to the stairs. At the moment she's looking round the hall and storage area. She's had a look in kitchen but I don't want her in there really so have closed that now. She looks the type to walk on my sides and eat my food haha she's already walked on my sons tea and trod in her own waterbowl

She sounds fab. Sparklingcat was very similar when she arrived-all over the place and then got her head stuck in one of DS's paper lanterns he had made. I think it just all has to be checked out to begin with. Grin

NameChange30 · 21/02/2016 19:29

She's beautiful! Sounds like she's not shy AT ALL Grin

MrsMoggy · 21/02/2016 19:31

I'm still in need of name ideas folks. So far have Misty suggested by roast any other ideas?

I will try and get a picture of her bad eye soon, she is very pretty but the eye is quite a mess, I wonder if as she gets older it may heal a bit and look less noticeable. It doesn't bother me at all, just curious

Maybe a famous explorer as she is so brave!

Lady Hester Stanhope perhaps?

You could search MN for cat name threads, there have been some excellent suggestions!

I suggest naming her after a famous explorer or a fictional character. I'll have a think.

MrsMoggy · 21/02/2016 19:44

Keep the suggestions coming. Only ones Ive come up with are Millie, Frankie, Elsa.

I should add that she was apparently originally called Lolly, then changed to Bali

I quite like Twinkle and Pixie.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 21/02/2016 20:09

She looks (and sounds) a live wire! If she's been used to two-syllable name, probably best to go with another - Pixie is lovely and slightly mischievous sounding. Or how about Poppy, Effie, or Minnie (the Minx)?

MrsMoggy · 21/02/2016 20:11

Poppy is my nieces name but Minnie may be one to consider, we are disney fans too

Mincepies76 · 21/02/2016 20:13

Tinker if you like Disney? Minnie is nice.
