CPL home check tomorrow

Hi all,

This subject has probably been done lots of times so apologies in advance. Got a home check tomorrow for an indoor cat who we haven't actually met yet. What should I expect to be looked at and what questions may I be asked?

So far I have answers to where the cat would eat and use litter tray, where it could have privacy in first few weeks, what vets I may sign up to, feeding schedule, what I'm going to buy etc. can anybody think of anything else?

Thank you

Oooh fingers crossed MrsM! This all sounds more hopeful!

Can anyone advise me on pet insurance? Just thinking with the eye issue the cat has. The lady said basically it's eyelid had to be cut back when she was born and as such she has some puckering of the skin round her eye and has lost so r depth perception. Symptom wise she is prone to a runny eye, treated at home by gentle bathing.

Would this count as a pre existing condition? I'm very confused over insurance to be honest. I can understand if they don't cover cost of the eye but can I still get cover for any other issues she might have unrelated to eyes? Thanks x

She sounds lovely, Mrs M - I always like a grey cat. Smile

You should be able to get insurance to cover everything except her eye. The rescue might have a provider they recommend? Also there are often threads on here about insurance, in both the litter tray & dog house topics.

Thanks, I will ask all these questions if we pass the home visit. Not heard anything yet about when it will be. Trying not to be too impatient and remain neutral but it's hard!

On another note Callie has now been put up for adoption again on the rescues site. There was a picture of her she looked really scared still poor love. In her description it now advises that she isn't to be homed with young children and that she needs company in a quiet home. Still feel very guilty and think of her often

Good luck MrsMoggy. I've been lurking on this thread and following your story. It sounds like you did absolutely everything you could for Callie. We had to rehome a cat once, and it was awful so I understand how you feel but I think sometimes it's the best thing you can do.

I really hope the home check goes well and you find a cat that suits you.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 20/02/2016 20:52

Good luck for tomorrow MrsMoggy

Lady's just been, she was really nice. Didn't even look round just asked us some questions about cat care and where she would go and just gave us advice. She seemed to think the cat would be just fine here. She's taken our landlord permission and details and will send them over to the other branch so hopefully we will be successful!

Just on the way to her foster home now. Thank you again to everyone for your support and for giving me the confidence to try again. Think my MIL will have to get the biggest thanks for finding her for me, she doesn't even like cats! x

So pleased for you all, MrsM Grin

I am utterly hopeless at names I'm afraid - my latest kitten is still called Kitten & he's been here nearly 6 months!)
