cat fighting for life

My 5 year old cat has been in a road traffic accident today. The person didn't stop but thankfully someone else saw it and told the local vets who took her in. Her jaw is smashed and her leg is in bits. She is spending the night at the vets dosed up on pain relief to be transferred to the specialists tomorrow to see if they can save her leg and mend her jaw. The kids are distraught as am I. Anyone have any experience of a cat having 3 legs and having a quality life?

Wevecomeonholidaybymistake- hugs to you and yours too. I'm taking the children off for a long walk along the beach in a moment. I can't stand the emptiness of the house. I put her bowls and bed away last night. Just in the garage - I couldn't throw them away. The bed had sand on top so I think she must have been playing on the beach not long before she went. I hope so.

Yes I'm planning on a long walk out today, house too empty.
His bowl is still in the kitchen, I can't bear to put it away yet.

Best to put anything of his away before you go for that walk. You can't keep on coming home to them - the loss will just be too palpable.

I'm so sorry. It's rubbish being the grownup. I just put our lovely old lady's stuff in the bin or in a box in the garage as quickly as I could bear. I still find reminders now and then and it breaks my heart. This is grieving. Donâ??t worry about treating it like that for you and yours.
