He's been poorly (so have I) & I was saying how much I missed having a cat when we were ill

& he agreed

Squee!!

he changed his mind

So we have enquired about 2 (different kittens)

Yes interesting (isn't that a Chinese curse?)

He waltzes into the playroom looking like he owns the room - some parents have commented that he looks like he always lived there

He is very present at mealtimes - almost like he is waiting for manna from heaven Grin

For an always indoor cat he spent a lot of today gazing out of the window at the chickens Hmm

DH is in love

.....He waltzes into the playroom looking like he owns the room......

They do tend to make 'entrances'.

You have chickens? I think you better have a long hard think about his indoor/outdoor status and make a clear decision there. That's a buffet lunch for one to a Siamese.

KatyMac · 10/11/2014 22:03

None of the other 3 even acknowledged their existence

Sigh

Off to see the vet tomorrow as a sort of courtesy/introduction/thank you session

Good thinking.

I take it his introduction to the children was generally positive?

(Yes - you need to think about his indoor/outdoor status. Some cats are bored by wildlife as long as they're being fed - and some cats are killers. Unfortunately you can't tell at the moment because he may be being 'brave from behind the window'. If you had a feisty cockerel around that might make a big difference.)

No cockerel - 2 small bantams in an Eglu (so far it's been fox proof - whether or not it's Flynn proof....)

He loves the children

He & DH are negotiating sleeping areas...the bed or the catcave!

It's a difficult one. My Darling Firstcat (a sealpoint) had a mighty high opinion of himself but was an abject coward when faced with reality. As a contrast, Darling Twoago decided happily to take on a whole flock of seagulls as soon as he got outside at a new house - and they're big and aggressive birds.

He might be interested only in watching academically and be happy to be a house cat. (And if he goes outside, he might meet other cats - which seems to be his Achilles heel?) Have a good long think about it anyway.

Good news about the children.
