Arh very nice.. What's the cat called?

KatyMac · 07/11/2014 21:40

We are his second re-home

He was Flynn then Finley

I think he is more of a Flynn - but DD suggested Finnian & I wondered about Finnegan

I think he is an "F" something

33 minutes from cat entering the home until DH adores him

I think that is a record!

Oh & Cat adores DH as well

You just went down the pecking order there.

Beautiful cat though. His second re-home Sad

KatyMac · 07/11/2014 21:55

He was in a three cat home & he bullied

Here he can only bully DH Grin

I drove 6 hours (3 each way) to collect him & he abandoned me at the first chance; I even gave him ham

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2014 21:58

He's an only cat then. Obviously dh is the chosen one for now.

No loyalty is there? Grin

KatyMac · 07/11/2014 21:59

Yep only cat

Only adored cat (after only 2 hours)

Men!!

My father didn't much like cats (history) but he made an exception for Siamese.

Where did he sleep last night?

KatyMac · 08/11/2014 08:42

DH took him to bed; but he slept on his chair in the lounge

cozietoesie · 08/11/2014 08:45

Ah - sounds as if he isn't quite bonded yet then. Be warned - things may change.

Smile
HSMMaCM · 08/11/2014 09:00

Tut tut replacing your dd with a cat Grin

KatyMac · 08/11/2014 09:05

He slept for 2hrs on DH last night 'watching' TV

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 08/11/2014 09:44

That's good - but sleeping with your person is usually the next step/biggie for Siamese. I do hope you haven't got a favoured spot in the bed?

When are the first children to arrive?

KatyMac · 08/11/2014 12:51

Monday.....Grin

Good luck then. Just make sure that he has a good safe place to go to if he wants and that it contains his food, water and tray. You might get some temperament but at least they won't be other cats!

(I wouldn't take him for introductions - usual rules: let him make the running if he wants to come see.)

KatyMac · 08/11/2014 15:43

We need to think about a safe place while the door is open tho'

When the children are arriving & when we open the door to outside

Not quite sure what we are going to do with him them

But his litter tray is in our bathroom & his food is in the utility/downstairs loo & neither can be closed off from the playroom - we would have to shut him in the lounge

We haven't noticed him trying to run for the door yet & the rescue assured us he was an indoor cat - but I don't know if that's indoor by choice or by control

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 08/11/2014 15:47

Hmmm. I think I'd play it ultra safe as he's only been with you such a short time - you don't need him to suddenly find himself outside for the first time in his life and in a new place as well with indifferent weather. I'd try out the lounge tomorrow, I think.

KatyMac · 08/11/2014 20:34

He won't eat

I'm at Tesco - I have fresh chicken, salmon & am going inot the pet food aisle

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/11/2014 20:51

Gourmet perle Wink

KatyMac · 08/11/2014 21:06

Didn't see that I got 2 flavours of Dreamies a little pot of sheba & crab sticks

Plus a Lily's Chicken dinner

KatyMac · 08/11/2014 21:10

OK fresh chicken from my fingers but not from the bowl Sad

This could take a while

cozietoesie · 08/11/2014 21:43

Sounds like he's training you nicely. Grin

(Remember that Siamese can be ferociously bright cats - as well as manipulative - so scour those depths of your own.)

He's young and pretty healthy so I'd leave his food and water down and either ignore him or ignore the fact that he hasn't eaten. They can sometimes be so fascinated by PEOPLE that they aren't interested in a lesser activity. He should get round to it in due course.

cozietoesie · 08/11/2014 21:46

PS - my own experience is that they also adore routine. They're quite the most ritualistic cats I've ever known so probably best to agree feeding times and stick to those (with some food words or food calls) rather than following him around plaintively with a bowl all the time.

Has he started talking yet?

KatyMac · 08/11/2014 22:04

No massive talking yet - but in the car he kept changing the settings on the Satnav & holding my arm through the cage door

We have moved his bowl because he didn't seem to like that room....now I'm not sure

Sigh we will be well trained in a week or so I guess

I'd put the dish down and walk away too, my childhood cats ran rings around my mum. If they didnt like a food she'd open another flavour.

This was the woman who made me eat a curry that was too hot for my young mouth until the tears ran down my face because she thought I was being "fussy" and she couldn't abide fussiness.
