This time they found the box as well. Last time it was 4 of them and mine adopted them so they thought they were hers and I took them in. This time they've realised someone must be dumping them. Only one found. Exactly the same age as the other ones when they were found and looks exactly the same Sad

I've taken it in for now but I can't keep it on indefinitely because my 4 have a delicate balance as it is.

Why do people do that

Yeah Blackpool , I wish I could arrange something but I don't know anybody with transport sorry

talkmedown · 21/09/2014 19:12

I usually get the milk & bottle from pets at home cost £10 for both & if I need syringes I just go to the local vet & get a load

Hurr1cane · 21/09/2014 19:13

Thank you so much everyone. Poor little girl :(

Although, if she does survive, hand reared cats do tend to be extra cute. I just hope she was the only one and there isn't any more wandering about all alone Sad

You need to notify the RSPCA that someone is dumping kittens near you. There might be a pattern.

Poor little things way to young to be away from mum, no wonder she's scared.

Maybe cats protection would give you food to foster her while they look for a home for her.

Hurr1cane · 21/09/2014 19:33

RSPCA here are beyond rubbish. They never turn up, and the one time I managed to get them to after months of phone calls, they stole my cat carrier from outside to take the very poorly abandoned cat back. Angry

I will try emailing cats protection though. Good idea!

Hurricane are you on Facebook ?

If you are try and find some local pet selling pages and their is usually quite a few people willing to help even if it's just some milk & more often than not their are always a few fosterers lurking about

Hurr1cane · 21/09/2014 19:48

No I'm not on Facebook Sad

talkmedown · 21/09/2014 20:03

Ah ok , I'm not sure what else I can suggest unfortunately for tonight .

If you ring round all your local vets including your local PDSA they should be able to advise you if their are any fosterers that are able to help you .
also Google your local cat sanctuaries and give them a ring see what they suggest

Hurr1cane · 21/09/2014 20:14

Thanks :) I've emailed 'prevent unwanted pets' and cats protection.

I just hope the rest of her litter is safe Sad

talkmedown · 21/09/2014 20:21

Hopefully it was just the only one , I don't know how people can do things like this Angry

Is their anyway you could nip out and check if their are anymore , just to be certain ?

Hurr1cane · 21/09/2014 20:26

Apparently the neighbours checked. I can't, my DS has autism and severe learning disabilities and health problems and it's just me and him living here so I can't leave or take him with me.

Cats protection emailed back asking for my phone number so just waiting to see if she rings me tonight. I'm ready for my first hour sleep though (I sleep in hour stints and my alarm is set every hour to check on DS as he can wander or fit in the night)

I really hope you manage to get some. help Thanks

Hurr1cane · 22/09/2014 06:26

Well she's not eaten or drank anything all night :( she's terrified. I got her out to out her near the food and feral kitten came in and dumped kitten visibly calmed when they saw each other, so I've left feral kitten in the bathroom for now to see if she encourages dumped kitten to eat.

Feral kitten seemed non plussed about dumped kitten and gave her a lick and went about eating the food that was on offer while dumped kitten looked on in interest while eyeing me up suspiciously.

I used to foster kittens and they start to eat solids at around three weeks and I would say from the pictures she's over three weeks. Around four to five at a guess. Although it's gross you can try warming the cat food a little, adding warm water to it, it makes it smell more and makes it more appealing.

With some really poorly kittens I've looked after I've literally rubbed the cat food onto their gums or just tried to get a little into their mouth to encourage them to eat. And I've also just tried any other meat I have like ham or tuna just to get them onto the idea of eating, obviously it's not good long term!
But like you said at that age it will need milk too and need to be kept warm so it's not using up energy trying to stay warm.

upandawayy · 22/09/2014 06:43

Also meant to say you're found a great job. Looking after kittens is pretty tiring at the best of times and you're saving this one's life.

sashh · 22/09/2014 07:08

Hurr1cane

Where are you? I'm in the Midlands and I need to take a trip up to Lancashire fairly soon, next couple of weeks probably. I go up the M6 and basically turn right at Preston but could certainly take a kitten with me.

Hurr1cane · 22/09/2014 07:13

I'm going to go to pets at home after DS is dropped off at school and try it then. DS helped with the last kittens when they were more confident and is very over enthusiastic about feeding this one, he's very gentle but his enthusiasm would probably scare it even more so soon so I'm trying to distract him. Every time I turn around he's sneaking to the bathroom door like a ninja.

I'll inbox you where I am because I don't want to be outed.

Thanks for everyone's help by the way Smile

Awww now poor DS is in tears because he wants to "show kitten, couple food, show mum, no school."

I think he thinks I'm neglecting it poor lamb.

Right just got home with some formula and a kitten bottle. the poor thing is shaking and seemed very weak, wasn't struggling trying to get away but you could see it was terrified Sad

Anyway it had no clue what to do with the bottle so eventually I started squeezing it so some formula came out and she soon got the hang of it and was gulping it down. She drank quite a lot for her tiny little size then turned away when she had enough.

I put her down and she sort of commando crawled behind the toilet and looked scared so I put her back into the dome cat bed and she went straight into the corner and hid there.

She is filthy Sad I can't give her a wash until she is a bit less nervous or I'll probably traumatise her but she mustn't be very comfortable like that.
