Oooh Grandkitties coming soon :D

My son was on the lookout for a tortie and white girl kitten to adopt with his GF. I was told by a friend of a litter of kittens who were going to be dumped/put down if they didn't find homes soon so he's decided to adopt the two black ones - as he said black cats are the hardest to home and he'd rather save two little black lives than adopt a pretty kitten who would probably have no trouble finding a home :D.

He makes me so proud - and I'm quite excited as my friend is delivering them to me in a few days and they'll be coming to stay until next weekend :D

What's happening to the other kittens & the mum? Mum needs spaying ASAP.

I've known litters to disappear & be drowned.

Fuzzymum1 · 05/04/2014 19:05

The others kittens have a home - a friend of mine is having them for her nan, I don't know about mum, she belongs to the colleague of a friend of a friend so I'm a bit distanced from her.

I have asked about the spaying and been told that mummy is booked in this week to be spayed. Kittens homed and mummy fixed is the best outcome we could hope for :D

Well done all.

cozietoesie · 05/04/2014 21:22

Oh - and by the way. I think black or black and white cats are incredibly pretty.

I love black cats - our first cat was a very handsome black cat called Murphy :D

It seems the owner wants them gone now or sooner so they (or it if one has found a home already) will be arriving this afternoon :D

We'll need (forwarded) pictures of course !

cozietoesie · 06/04/2014 08:27

Oops- they're coming to stay with you for an interim ?

Straight pictures then.

Yes they're coming here. It turns out they're only five weeks and barely weaned. I'm off to get d

5 weeks? Thank god they have each other.

Fuzzymum1 · 06/04/2014 15:45

They're going to stay with me for a couple of weeks so they have our cats to learn from. One of ours takes all newbies under his wing and mothers them so I'm hoping he will help them with the stuff they didn't get chance to learn from their mum. Poor things will be so sad leaving mummy so soon but I will do whatever I can to make up for what they're missing. I'm contemplating sleeping on the sofa with them tonight to keep them warm and snuggly and make them feel safe. This is them in the carrier on their way here with my lovely friend who is making a five hour round trip to get them here.

So tiny & vulnerable. I hope they settle in well. Poor mum cat too.

Fuzzymum1 · 06/04/2014 21:17

They've arrived and settled in well. They're so teeny tiny but so sweet. They're eating well, they've had a whole pouch of royal canin kitten food so far. I've also given them a little bit of lactol which they seem to like too. At the moment they're snuggled up in a fleecy pouch in a puppy crate.

The curled up kitten is Appa and the one with it's paw in the hand is Momo. Momo isn't as dark as Appa and has some quite obvious tabby stripes in her black fur at the moment.

When they wake up I'm going to weigh them - they're quite tiny at the moment but seem strong and healthy for their size.

Wee sticks - they're going to need a lot of love. Have your other cats clocked their presence yet?

cozietoesie · 06/04/2014 21:26

Oh - and how confident are you that you're going to be able to let them go?

Fuzzymum1 · 06/04/2014 21:46

I will struggle to part with them but I know they will have a lovely life with my son and his GF. The others have clocked them and hissed a bit, one got a quick bop on the head but nothing major - one of our boys has given them a quick lick - he gets on so well with all the other cats so I'm relying on him to make them welcome. I think their busy day has taken it's toll - they had an hours drive from their mum to my friend and then my friend had a 2.5 hour drive to get them here. They're snoozing away together :D

Fuzzymum1 · 06/04/2014 23:01

I've just weighed them and they're so tiny - Appa is a bit bigger at 570g and Momo is just 470g. That fits in with them being 5 weeks old - if they are then they're a good size :D

Appa has used the litter tray for a wee so that's a good sign - I haven't seen Momo use it yet but I haven't seen her go elsewhere either. They're relaxed, with full bellies and have had lots of cuddles and fuss. Hopefully they will sleep well tonight and be ready and raring to go in the morning.

I will have to let them go - DH already says we have too many cats - I don't think there is such a thing but he says seven is plenty ;) Nine is probably pushing it and I don't think my son would speak to me ever again!

The cube bed they're snuggling in is about 12-14" across to give you an idea how tiny they are.

cozietoesie · 06/04/2014 23:13

If one has used the tray, the other should follow because it will smell right. Fingers crossed anyway.

Fuzzymum1 · 06/04/2014 23:26

I hope so, the fact that one knew what to do is reassuring that they'll both get it :D

Aw love a new kitty thread! Hope they have a good first night and do keep us posted...:)

cozietoesie · 06/04/2014 23:38

Well it really is fingers crossed on that one. Kittens learn at different rates and they are so terribly little.

SpandexBallet · 07/04/2014 09:26

Gorgeous little kitties! It sounds as though they are in good hands.

Fuzzymum1 · 07/04/2014 13:49

I will definitely do my best by them. They are sleeping most of the time today which is good. I'm sure they'd be sleeping plenty if they were still with mummy. The come out and run potter around for ten minutes then crash and sleep for a couple of hours.
