My son was on the lookout for a tortie and white girl kitten to adopt with his GF. I was told by a friend of a litter of kittens who were going to be dumped/put down if they didn't find homes soon so he's decided to adopt the two black ones - as he said black cats are the hardest to home and he'd rather save two little black lives than adopt a pretty kitten who would probably have no trouble finding a home :D.

He makes me so proud - and I'm quite excited as my friend is delivering them to me in a few days and they'll be coming to stay until next weekend :D

Our youngest cat Douglas is coming round to them. He gave one a brief lick earlier.

Awww. Is Douglas the soft one who likes to mother other cats?

This thread makes me so happy. :)

More updates please!

Freddie is normally the soppy one but he's not keen on these two yet.

They're doing well, eating royal canin pouches and drinking lactol from a bowl which is excellent.

Litter training is going well, we've gone from pooing on the floor to pooing in the litter tray already, we need to refine their technique as they keep stepping in it, LOL.

They're getting really confident and are loving playing together and racing around the living room and conservatory.

I'm a teaching assistant in a reception class and our topic this week is spring and new life - I took the kittens in for a brief visit and the kids loved them, they asked loads of really good questions and the kittens coped well and weren't scared by it. My son and his GF have been over three times already to visit them and are absolutely besotted. Appa went to sleep in DS's lap and slept there for a while tonight.

I will get some more pictures tomorrow and share them - had a mad couple of days with a friend staying.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, been a bit tricky following a steroid injection in my wrist - it's feeling much better now so will take some more pictures in the morning. The kittens are going from strength to strength - they've mastered the litter tray completely but need to get a little bit better at cleaning themselves. They're still eating loads and drinking the lactol. I plan to gradually water down the lactol so they get used to drinking water as they're not interested in water at all yet. I think I'm going to soften some dry food for them to hopefully interest them in some dry food as well as the pouches.

Has your DS found some kittens for himself and his GF yet?

(Trick question.) Wink

Fuzzymum1 · 11/04/2014 23:24

LOL, I'm so in love with these two, even DH has gone soppy over them! That's probably because they are temporary, LOL

They're currently tearing around having a last play before they go in the crate overnight. They were asleep and I was about to go to bed, then they woke up and they looked hopefully at me - I'm a sucker for a cute face so now I'm staying up late so they can play.

Well of course. They'll think you're their Mum now. Smile

The kittens are going from strength to strength. They spend far more time awake than they did a week ago and are so confident and active now. My son and his GF adore them and are itching to take them home. I'm holding out as long as I can, LOL.

What an adorable pair.

How many existing cats did you say you had? Wink

cozietoesie · 13/04/2014 10:28

Oh - and by the way. It's now main kitten season so I reckon your son and his GF would have little problem in helping out one of your local rescues by taking a kitten or mature cat.

We have seven cats of our own :D A dark tortie called McGonagall, A ginger and white called Boddington, A black and white called Trevor, A tortie and white called Mabel, A ginger tabby called Freddie, Another dark tortie called Marmite and a long-haired tabby and white maine coon cross called Douglas.

We also have 4 degus, 2 giant african land snails and are fostering a hamster for my son which will be moving in with him and his GF soon too. Once the hamster has moved out (she lived with DS originally but he wasn't allowed to take her to halls at uni so she stayed with us in september.) I am planning to get a pair of mouselike hamsters (which are neither ice or hamsters!)

I think my son and his GF would never speak to me again if I didn't let them take their babies home and I'm fairly sure my husband wouldn't either, LOL.

Scarletohello · 13/04/2014 19:03

Oh wow they are adorable! V hard to let them go...

Fuzzymum1 · 13/04/2014 21:53

They have grown loads! I just weighed them again - a week ago they were 470g and 570g - they're now 620g and 750g!

cozietoesie · 13/04/2014 22:03

That's the age. 'Eat, poop, play, sleep......and repeat.'

Oh - and grow of course.

Fuzzymum1 · 13/04/2014 22:57

They seem to do sleep, poop, eat, play, poop eat, poop, sleep :D

cozietoesie · 13/04/2014 22:59

...... poop, poop, poop, eh? Grin

Just be thankful they're not real young and you're not a Mom cat. You'd have to lick them clean.

Fuzzymum1 · 14/04/2014 11:24

I was very relieved to find they could poop independently - I wasn't relishing the idea of having to stimulate them several times a day. Thankfully I have some old flannels so wouldn't need to use my tongue!
