My cat has a boyfriend who calls for her every morning!

My cat is an only cat and has now got a friend. I think he is a young boy as he is big and lanky. He keeps coming and knocking at the French doors. He jumps up on his back legs and paws at the glass. When Rosie notices him she gallops up to the door and we let her out to play with him. I didn't know cats made friends with neighbouring cats but think this is so lovely!

Our neighbours commented on our lovely cat calling round to their house to see their boy cat. They thought it was love. I think our boy cat just thought he'd found a friend! Very cute!

That's really cute. Mine had two friends when he was younger, if he was kept in at night one would miaow under the window and ours would answer him through the glass.

It's lovely seeing them playing and going off on adventures.

joey99 · 23/01/2014 22:22

Our cat puffs up and make strange quiet growls at other cats she sees in the garden but she loves this one! they were laying under the trampoline together yesterday looking like a great couple. They kiss each other when they first meet up but then always sit or lay a bit apart so are playing it cool!

my very first cat used to have a friend call around. Jasper was a huge holy terror feared by all and sundry, but then someone along the road got a kitten and he would come calling and off they would go!

like the Kray twins, but still. I think Jasper saw Claude as his heir.

CrazyHmissesHerbie · 24/01/2014 00:47

One of my Cats has a friend he is huge and scares the crap out of me, they spent all summer sunbathing on the trampoline Grin

Their is also a black cat that sits at the bottom of my garden just staring at my house for hours , all the neighbourhood cats avoid him and so do i

cozietoesie · 24/01/2014 06:12

He's probably lonely, poor lad.

The Lodger made immediate friends with the wuss nice neutered tom next door - who used to wait for him to 'come out to play' of a morning. The pair of them would sit companionably under a tree in the sunshine, not talking much or doing anything, just enjoying the sunshine.

TheDoctorsNewKidneys · 24/01/2014 07:37

Aww, that's so cute.

Our cats are indoor cats, and the neighbours over the road also have an indoor cat (we live on a really busy road out of town). I often see girlcat sitting at the window flirting with neighbours boycat! It's really funny.

HowlingTrap · 24/01/2014 07:39

For some reason I read it as my boyfriend calls his cat every morning, gah...its far to early.

Gileswithachainsaw · 24/01/2014 07:41

Aw that's so sweet. My cat used to have a boyfriend who called twice a day for her. They spent hours together :) they had kittens too (before you flame me I spent weeks trying to convince my parents to get her spayed. It pissed me off too. I was at school and the op was slightly more than my weekend paper round wage)

But they were so sweet together felt awful when we moved and had to leave him behind :(

thenicknameiwantedisgone · 24/01/2014 07:45

I didn't realise cats do this, it's lovely.

We have two cats, brother and sister. Most of the time they ignore each other but do occasionally lie on the same bed. That's about it!

cozietoesie · 24/01/2014 07:58

Some cats do, some don't. It's luck of the draw really - a bit like people.

Same here too but it happens very late at night, she only goes out with him for a couple of hours then comes back and wakes us up for breakfast. Dh thinks it's a local stray so ours doesn't have very high standards, but i've told her we're happy for her and we'd like to meet him properly. Both of us would have another one and it'd be great if its one shes friends with so we'd like to encourage them to spend more time together rather than listening to him howling the other side of the catflap every night. We live in a bungalow and the catflap is in our bedroom door.

sashh · 24/01/2014 09:25

For various reasons one of my cats had to go live with my parents, she was completely white. She made friends with a local cat who was completely black.

I never saw him but my mum said they looked double cute, one for playing and teo for their colours.

Gatekeeper · 24/01/2014 09:29

that's lovely; made me smile that did

Ah such lovely stories. I'm glad it is fairly common that cats make friends even though everybody thinks that cats hate other cats who come into the garden!

when we lived in a bungalow which was a circle with a green in the center my jasper made friends with a cat from the other side of the green, i used to let him out and he would go straight over to the other bungalow and knock with his paws on the the door so the lady used to let her cat out and they would both trot off together over the fields at the back of the bungalows it was so cute to see them like a couple of friends off for the day

Scarletohello · 24/01/2014 19:14

These are sooo sweet! I never knew cats did this, thought they were very solitary creatures...

CuntyBunty · 24/01/2014 19:19

Aww, I want a girlfriend for my Sausage now.

EnlightenedOwl · 24/01/2014 20:37

Mine is in a gang of four. They call alternately at each other's houses. Funny.

ShephardsDelight · 24/01/2014 23:07

my cat had a serious leg injury (fox attack)
and had to sit in a cage, to recover.
Every now and again a male cat off the street would sneak in and sit in front of the cage.

mrsnec · 25/01/2014 06:00

I agree, really lovely stories. The black and white pair sound very cute. Ours is a very pretty petite tabby. Her boyfriend a massive scruffy tux. I bet they look like the odd couple to their pals! Shepherds that is very sweet! I Didn't think anyone would be interested in Dusty since she's nutured. But its not made a difference.

One of my boy cats is the gentleman caller of the pretty girl cat whose garden backs onto ours. He visits her every day and scratches at their patio door until she is let out to play. They then romp playfully around her garden together. It's very cute to watch.

Fortunately they are both neutered Grin
