[gulp] It may soon be time to say goodbye to SoupKitten

She has a fair amount of fluid on her abdomen - according to the vet there are a few possible causes and pretty much all of them are bad.

She was found in a gutter as a tiny kitten with cat flu, eye infections and mites which left her with a few problems but has spent nearly 5 happy years here with us and FatCat.

Waiting for the results of £250 worth of blood tests but have primed toe children that she is unlikely to be with us much longer.

Well, that's a surprise: she is alive, alert, scoffing breakfast and managed to lick all the cream cheese from around her tablet Confused

A scrapper, eh?

Smile
cozietoesie · 10/06/2013 07:08

I infer, however, that the tablet itself did not go down?

MissStrawberry · 10/06/2013 07:19

Yay for SoupKitten!

SoupDragon · 10/06/2013 07:22

I think it went on the second attempt. I can't be sure as the tiny 1/4 tablet is white, as is the cream cheese.

I much prefer dogs - wrap tablet in bacon, job done. In fact, SoupDogg is easier. Make a fuss about the tablet you have in your hand enough and he thinks it's bacon :o

(she is clearly not well though - she hasn't made a miraculous recovery over night or anything but The Decision has been postponed)

We'll see. A few good days of rest and love can make a big difference - and even if they don't, she'll still have had those good days.

Best of luck, whatever happens.

SoupDragon · 10/06/2013 07:28

DSs have internal exams this week - if I can nurse her along til next week or the weekend, that'll be good.

She's not eaten a lot though - appetite good, quantity not so good.

Well her innards are all discombobulated from what you say. If she's eating some and drinking, that's OK-ish. (I'm guessing she's not too active either so would use fewer calories.)

LeGavrOrf · 10/06/2013 07:40

Bless her. You have given that cat a wonderful life from such a poor start.

I hope all goes well this week and she doesn't suffer, and your children are not too upset if she does go.

I did laugh at the mental image of you exasperatedly stalking the streets with a pizza and a lead in your hands. Grin

Last time I was running down the road with a packet of ham :)

I think she can only eat small amounts so little and often it what she probably needs. I wonder if she ate too much last night and it made her feel rougher than normal.

SoupDragon

I'm just waiting, with anticipation, for the AIBU about the madwoman on the street who runs around in the night with cooked meat!

Grin
SoupDragon · 10/06/2013 08:11

The ham was in daylight :o and more than one neighbour came out to shout "There he is!" as DSs had been knocking on doors :)

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 10/06/2013 08:16

Oh an AIBU can be embroidered up if needed. At least we'll know the origin!

SoupDragon · 10/06/2013 08:24

:)

To add to my woes, I think FatCat has been bitten on the ear. I'm hoping it just heals without antibiotics. He also looks fecking enormous but that may be because SoupKitten is now teeny.
