I am worrying about my cat again [sad].

She just took ages to get half up to then settle down and didn't seem to know what to do with her front right paw. Then after a minute she got down off the sofa and went out of the room.

She is 16. Her kidneys are failing, she has arthritis and has hypoestesias. She is on 4 tablets a day and special food. I am taking her for an extra check up this evening as she wasn't very well at all last week and had lost weight. She looks like she might have lost more Sad.

The vet said we are not at that point yet but part of me worries we are but he doesn't want to say as he knows how potty I am about her. She did play a bit yesterday though and is eating the new food we had to buy her after refusing to eat anything else.

Fur real do some very realistic kittens and cats no I didn't think the toy one was my cat, really, no no no I didn't so maybe he could have one of those until the kitten that is going to become yours is ready.....?

We bury our cats down by the rose bushes; there is a sweet little cat headstone which my brother had made for his cat when she died. When my bro died I nabbed the headstone and it now adorns our cat cemetary. We have recently been visited by a Heron. Said heron stands in our pond and tosses fish hither and yon. Whenever I find a dead one, I bury it in the cat cemetary so they've got nice food. Smile

FABCat bit me earlier. Feisty little madam Grin. She just worried me though as she just did a weird shaking thing. It is so hard not to worry about every little thing she does.

OP posts:
Jux · 10/10/2011 22:43

It's like having a sick child isn't it? Every little thing is inspected, mulled over, analysed, worried about.

TheOriginalFAB · 11/10/2011 07:54

True.

We have progress though as we have found some food she will eat more than one or 2 portions of and will eat it with her powder in so I am happy about that and more hopeful for her future. The vet is back in a week so hopefully he will ring and say he isn't worried about her yet.

She has moulted a lot today. Apparently it is a sign of pain in cats Sad. I am going to start a thread to ask if anyone knows as this is very long now.

OP posts:
Jux · 12/10/2011 00:10

Didn't know that, FAB. Sad

Will look out for new thread.

TheOriginalFAB · 12/10/2011 13:56

I am having to sit on the floor as FABCat is asleep in my seat. I have to move her every day. When will she learn?? HmmGrin.

OP posts:
Jux · 12/10/2011 22:28

She learnt a LONG time ago - that you would either move her (minimum effort on her part) or you will sit on the floor (no effort from her at all). She's not stupid, is she Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 13/10/2011 09:30

Grin clearly she is cleverer than me!!

Cats are the Einsteins of self-interest.

TheOriginalFAB · 13/10/2011 17:26

Yet my husband says FABCat isn't very bright. It isn't my food I spend hours chosing in the supermarket and it isn't for my good that I have to sit on the floor!

Men can be very deluded, can't they?

We seem to have flea-treatment resistant cats at the moment (if that makes sense?). It is driving me mad and I am seriously tempted to send them all round to yours for a while. I need respite from failing to kill fleas!

And they have obviously found a colony of mice as they keep bringing them in and playing with them. DH rescued a tiny one last week and it bit him for his trouble! He had to go and have a tetanus jab! He has said the cats can keep them in future.

TheOriginalFAB · 14/10/2011 08:17

They certainly can Grin.

I would love to have your cats for a holiday but FABCat can't have any stress. We weren't allowed to adopt a kitten or two last year because of her illness.

FABCat is eating Grin.

Oh that's sad Sad

I had a very old lady, with hypothyroidism and senility. We got a new kitten who looked after her whenever she got lost and started wailing. He'd virtually tuck her up by the fire! (Have I already said that; I'm sure I have but maybe not on this thread.)

Anyway, glad she's eating.

TheOriginalFAB · 16/10/2011 15:40

She was shouting at me at 3.15 saying it was tea time! Grin. I looked outside and the guinea pigs were also sat by their door waiting for tea. It is a conspiratory against me as I just want to eat .

OP posts:
Jux · 16/10/2011 15:43

Our cats are always hungry at the moment. We're a bit puzzled by it, tbh.

I think you'd better eat for all of them.

TheOriginalFAB · 16/10/2011 15:56

I hope it is a good sign that FABCat wants to eat. She is asleep next to me at the moment. I am also hoping the vet will ring this week.

I gave all the animals a small snack and DH just made me a lovely bowl of fresh and dried fruit.

OP posts:
Jux · 18/10/2011 23:00

Mmmmm, sounds yummy

TheOriginalFAB · 19/10/2011 17:41

It really was delicious.

FABCat was playing madly with her toy yesterday Grin but when she flew after it and landed she fell over Sad.

I have phoned the vet yesterday and today but he hasn't been able to phone back yet.

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 19/10/2011 19:45

Vet just rang. I have to take her in asap in the morning. I think more because he has a quiet morning rather than it is an emergency situation. The paper thing could be a sign of her being in pain.

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 20/10/2011 11:55

FABCat is home, has put weight on and is doing okay Grin.

She had an injection for something [loss of memory] and has 2 new meds to take to help her. I am so happy she is home and as long as she responds to the meds I don't have to take her back for 2-3 months Grin.

I am £78 poorer but very happy GrinGrin.

OP posts:
Jux · 20/10/2011 14:43

Oh that's good news, FAB, you must be very relieved. He must be happy with her or he'd want to see her much sooner. What's this about the paper thing?

Our 'kitten' (she's a nearly a year old now, but is much younger than the others) has brought in a massive slow worm - 8 inches long I'd say. She was playing with it on the stairs. We didn't recognise it at first. DH thought it was a snake and hooked it up and took it out at arm's length. It is now over the wall in our neighbour's garden. I'm hoping there are more where that came from, as they are good creatures to have around (and endangered).

The kitten seems to have a 'thing' about worm-like creatures. She regularly brought in hawkmoth caterpillars earlier in the year. They were real aliens.

TheOriginalFAB · 20/10/2011 16:04

The vet things she is ripping at paper because she is in pain Sad. I have just given her her first doses of her new medicine so hopefully she will start to feel better very soon.

Your kitten sounds a monkey! Grin.

OP posts:
oopslateagain · 20/10/2011 18:34

She's put on weight! Oh that is good. Hope the new medicine helps.

I just found out the reason Oopscat is constantly asking for food is because he is senile. He forgets we have fed him. Sad I have some nice Senior food for him now, and have to give him a tiny bit every time he asks.

Tonight he pulled his food out of his bowl and then couldn't find it. He is nearly blind. Sad

But then he went on a play-scrapping fight with our kitten, and then went crazy over his catnip mouse, and is now curled up asleep in my spot on the sofa. Grin
