but the voles are hibernating and live food is scarce so eventually they crack and eat said badger shit with this look on their furry little fissogs.

The voles are not hibernating round here - they are being eaten.

Ditto the mice, the rats, rabbits and earlier this week a small woodpecker (told you he was a bastard).

We have a shiny Brabantia bin, with paw prints on it from him pretending to bury the can of whiskas I deigned to open.

I wouldn't mind but he also turns his nose up at sausages etc.

But will eat any old shit with a heartbeat that crosses his path - spiders, moths. Yummy - apparently

oh. maybe murdering cat has just eaten all the local voles and there are none left.

Mine has an expression of disdain for cat food in a bowl on the floor. Prefers sitting upright on a dining chair, expecting me to lay him a place at the table.

Never brought a mole in, thank heavens, but did once proudly produce five dead mice.

moles, partridges, wood pigeon. no ides how many mice, voles etc she eats, she just leaves the livers for me.

Dh keeps saying 'he doesn't like the cans, he likes the sachets' but they are exactly the same stuff

He just likes winding DH up by making him put out a choice of meals then wandering off without eating any of them.

They are toxic apparently - the livers, which is why they regurgitate them.

Mine likes to leave live mice in my wellies. And I keep forgetting to check and stand on the little feckers. I have had bitten toes twice already this month. And the entire family laughs when it happens.

The burying like shit thing is apparently a protective primal thing, ie burying so that predators, challengers etc don't find it, the scratching leaving their scent around said food too... So my DH tells me!

I found my mum feeding her cat prawns last week, when I questioned what the hell she was doing, she said 'he seems to have gone off normal cat food' well yes, wouldn't you if you knew that daftoldbat your owner would give you proper seafood instead

Dogs bury food. Cats scarf it and then bugger off, but only when it's not their house. At home they ignore it, demand something else like petulant toddlers, then stalk off in high dudgeon.

When I was a student, my landlady had an economy drive and switched her cat from Whiskas to 'honest value KatKins' -he took one look at it and stalked out.

Next morning, there was a mouse's head, neatly bitten off behind the ears in the exact centre of the hearthrug.

There was another the next morning... and the next. I think it took four days before she cracked.

wmc, I think ladylob might actually be onto something. My daft moggie scratches in the air around his food bowl - waving his paws around madly but in a very determined manner. Also tries desperately to sharpen his claws on the dishwasher next to his bowl and gets very frustrated as the surface is all slippy.

Have often wondered what on earth he is doing but think lady's theory makes sense.

Aah we've crossed paths before. We too have moles brought home. But more recently live ones and he sets them free behind the sofa to See What Happens.

Just this evening His Lordship has given me a withering luck as he forced himself to eat the disgusting food we provide for him, nipped out and come home with a frog. It's snowing. Where the frigging frig did he find a frigging frog?

Rusty...I think your Landladys cat was providing her with some extra grub in her time of need! erhaps the kitty thought that things were tough and he'd contribute!

I have no cat atm. I miss them.

I'm having a roffle at some of these stories! My old family cat used to eat anything, including coco pops and marmite on toast. He also had to have a place set at the table. Always got a few looks from friends coming over for tea, happy memories.

My cat is a killing machine but is terrifed of snow. He'd normally be out all night murdering playing and he just won't at the moment. So dh kicked him out last night to at least go for a wee. Cat repaid him by having a shit in his office. On his doormat so he stepped in it when he walked in . Karma's a bitch!

These cats have high standards that we have to live up to. According to my OH nothing but the Felix "As good as it looks" pouches are good enough for our girls. The elder one will eat anything that is put down because I trained her before the OH moved in. The younger one however moved in after and trained my OH of her expectations.

To feed my cats tablets I always cover it in pate and the younger one even turns her nose up at the cheap one and will only entertain the Tesco's Finest how does she know?!

OTOH, at least its not dogs pretending shit is food...
