No point banning coffee, as it didn't work last time. 🙄
Haven't had any cake updates from a while. @VanGoSunflowers Have you stopped baking already? You still had 8 cakes to go to make it economical.

@VanGoSunflowers oh but Pablo is still just a baby! 😀He can't be blamed for any mistakes he's made...so really he goes into Pupsy' and Brie's good dog bucket.

@CoubousAndTourmaIet did you manage to take Brie out, or did you send your chap out in the end? Either way, hope you're feeling better.

Someone found the secret stash of quality street and stole all the green ones, so I am not amused. I mean the 'green ones' in quality street these days only add up to about 3 chocolates, but still...

YorkshireFelix · 23/12/2025 15:38

We only got two green triangles in our whole tub this year!

I have onion chutney and stuffing sausage rolls in the oven for the meat eaters on Christmas Eve and they smell so good. I did the majority of my shop on Friday but need to go out this evening for some fresh stuff and some bits I forgot. I am going an hour before everything closes so hopefully won’t be too hectic…

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 23/12/2025 16:45

I braved it @TheHungryHungryLandsharks We did a big loop of road and field. Quite a few dogs out and about as it's been another dry day. Brie was good, no arsey lead biting stuff today, just a lot of sniffing and mooching on the long lead.

It's not a debilitating migraine today, it's a mild one so I can still function okay-ish but just have to completely avoid food until it passes. We got a portion of a batch cooked veg stew out of the freezer for DP to warm up.

I do think it should be possible to buy a whole tub of green triangles... not really sure why I'd say that, because I haven't eaten chocolate for about 15 years, but they were always my favourites too so I guess it's nostalgia.

Bupster · 23/12/2025 17:41

I note nobody is suggesting his nobness go in the good dog bucket. Given the little bollocks weaselled his way out of both his harness and his collar in one Houdini-like moment on the Common this afternoon I am very much in agreement.

Here he is hoping Father Christmas didn't hear about that (not that it would matter as he has an absolutely ridiculous amount of swag this year, including from all three of his sitters/daycare and the cleaner - not bad for an absolute liability)

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 23/12/2025 17:48

Bill's pretty much the thread mascot already though @Bupster , he doesn't really need the good dog award. I'm not totally sure Brie is deserving of it either, given that she has no recall, I'm not exactly at Brushing Boots level when it comes to training. I suppose Brie is only good by virtue of the fact that she spends so much of her time like this...

Obvious a faulty harness and collar ‘cause Bill is blameless.

BackToLurk · 23/12/2025 18:12

I haven’t caught up with everything, but Boo is definitely not a good dog as he decided to lay down in the middle of the road wagging his tale because there were fun looking people.

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 23/12/2025 18:13

What harness did he get out of @Bupster ? That gives me a bit of paranoia since we've had two collar slipping incidents...

He managed to back out of his Mekuti harness which in fairness isn't designed to reel in a 25kg nobhead VERY determined to continue digging for mouse nests. He just shrugged them both off over his head like a loose pullover. But to give him credit, he let me put them both back on again, without interrupting his mouse-hunting for a second (pictured mid-mouse hunt the other day). I think if you use the harness as intended, i.e. you remain behind your nobhead, it will work absolutely fine.

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 23/12/2025 18:24

Mouse hunting? 😂Bloody hell. Does he catch them?

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 23/12/2025 18:28

@CoubousAndTourmaIet glad it's not too bad and you were able to go out and get some fresh air! Brie looks absolutely incredible in that picture - so relaxed and content (and beautiful).

100% agree you should just be able to buy green triangles. They used to do giant ones, but I've not seen them on the shelves in years. @YorkshireFelix i'd be raging if there were only two 😤

Let us know how you get on your quest int the supermarket. Will keep my fingers crossed it's quiet for you and there's no men wandering around your supermarket looking as lost and confused as the ones in mine did today. 😂

@Bupster so it's not just us on MN who are completely captivated by Bill if he's getting that many presents! I mean he could join the good dog bucket...but he's have to come here for ear scratches for me to be 100% sure....

You have a fantastic gift for capturing Bill on photo with the most fantastic expressions on his face!

@BackToLurk ohhh! That's not too bad! At least it was for a good reason that he stopped!?

Bupster · 23/12/2025 18:31

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 23/12/2025 18:24

Mouse hunting? 😂Bloody hell. Does he catch them?

He caught one, once, about a year ago - I think it died of fright. He trotted around with it proudly for a good ten minutes while I tried to work out how on earth I was going to separate the two of them before we went home - then we ran into a Jack Russell who lives round the corner and he solved the issue by snatching it out of his mouth.

Since then the closest he's got is one that scurried out of its nest and disguised itself cunningly as a poo (by lying very still next to an actual poo). Bill is very enthusiastic, but a mighty hunter he is not.

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 23/12/2025 18:35

DP just asked what I'm cackling at 😂You do have a way with words @Bupster

VanGoSunflowers · 24/12/2025 07:16

@CoubousAndTourmaIet I forgave him minute I knew he was going to be ok ☺️ I feel much better now thank you! Just in time for Christmas! I was lucky enough to only have a mild dose of it!

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks oh but Pablo is still just a baby! 😀He can't be blamed for any mistakes he's made...so really he goes into Pupsy' and Brie's good dog bucket
I will take this because he is a good boy really… but using this logic, that also means that DWS should be in the good dog bucket 🙂

@Bupster I love your photos of Bill, how do you manage to capture his character so perfectly??

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 24/12/2025 10:24

@VanGoSunflowers True...but I think everyone on this thread would take Pablo in a heartbeat, not sure anyone is going to be queuing up to take DWS off my hands anytime soon and so she goes in the bad dog bucket 😀

Twatdog found some razor clams (not unusual) on Holkham beach this morning and tried to eat them whilst I was dealing with a scuffle between Satan and DWS (DWS had run into Satan and sent her flying and, of course, Satan took exception). Usually Twatdog will drop whatever it is, but I was too slow to command him so I had great fun shoving my hand down his throat to extract it. So he's also up for sale if anyone wants him...

VanGoSunflowers · 25/12/2025 08:21

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks I would offer to take DWS but I would have a sneaking suspicion that Pablo would probably enjoy her antics and therefore she wouldn’t be put off doing it 😂

Merry Christmas to you all, I hope you and your families (which obviously includes all the doggos) have a wonderful day ❤️🎄

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 25/12/2025 08:44

Good Morning
Merry Christmas to all those who are celebrating today.
Have a lovely day ✨🎄✨

SpanielsGalore · 25/12/2025 09:27

Merry Christmas everyone. 🎄
K was tucked up in bed early, waiting for Santa. Unfortunately none of my dogs made the (MN) good dogs list, so he didn't stop here. 😢 😂

Merry Christmas all 🎄

We have our main meal on the evening of the 24th so we're half way up a mountain now enjoying a Christmas 'stroll'

@SpanielsGalore I didn't include your girls in the 'good dog' bucket as I'm still trying to convince you to swap all three for Twatdog and DWS and I'm worried if I admit they're good girls you might raise the price! Today I'll even throw in a Mince Pie because I'm feeling generous if you do want to swap 😂

K really is gorgeous❤ As are your girls @tizwozliz - a long dog walk sounds like my ideal Christmas Day!

@VanGoSunflowers you can still have DWS, if you want! She had DD1 up at 5am this morning for some reason best known to herself, which in turn meant everyone else was up at 5am because of her yapping.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas & the doggies are all getting their fair share of Christmas dinner. I'm off for a nap with DDogs as we've done presents and breakfast and I need a quick power-nap before I tackle dinner!

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 25/12/2025 13:19

K looks so beautiful in your bed @SpanielsGalore , very regal. I'm absolutely psitive she made the good list and Santa will have left her something

Is it bad to admit to envying you your current location @tizwozliz ? I bet the dogs love it there.

Sorry you had an early morning wake-up from Eris @TheHungryHungryLandsharks . Brie had me up at 6, but we let DP sleep in until 8.

We had a quiet walk this morning, have just had a light lunch and now our two are settled on the sofa together, which is very sweet. Freija was there first, Brie climbed on very carefully to lie down without disturbing her 🤗

@CoubousAndTourmaIet - the girls certainly enjoyed their walk today. It was stunning. We've been so lucky with the weather. We'll all be enjoying some Christmas dinner leftovers later

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 25/12/2025 17:11

Another wonderful photo @tizwozliz I can't think of a better place to be and I imagine it was blissfully quiet today.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 26/12/2025 09:33

A Christmas lesson for you all: when you order your chicken online, and it says ‘minimum weight 2kg’…do not just assume that it will be around two kg without checking! Near disaster yesterday when I awoke from my nap to put the chicken in the oven and thought ’feels quite heavy’ and decided to weigh it…4KG!!!!

Dinner was at seven in the end, not five. 😂 but it was all delicious

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and brisk Boxing Day walk! 😊

Silverbirchleaf · 26/12/2025 11:09

@tizwozliz Stunning picture!

Dog enjoyed Christmas Day. Nice walk to the park and runaround with some other dogs then lots of wrapping paper and presents to play with. Plus he got a (small) Christmas lunch on top of his normal food. He was really good, and went with the flow of the day.
