Okay folks, let's head into late summer/autumn.

Isn't she leggy @SpanielsGalore ? Supermodel of spaniels. She looks very athletic.

She's a dachshund on stilts. 😁

@SpanielsGalore She is so tall! How funny when she is also so tiny. She must be mostly leg.

@brushingboots It is funny. Sometimes she doesn't look much smaller than P despite only being two thirds of her weight. I keep trying to get a decent photo of them next to each other for comparison and failing miserably.

@SpanielsGalore What a beautiful view. Is this from your garden (I guess it must be if you are responsible for the wall!)

I hope hurricane Amy doesn’t affect you too much, but looking at the forecast, I think your area will get the brunt of it.

@Nella68 Yes that's my garden wall. We have views across the Moray Firth to the Black Isle. It's the main reason I bought this house. The other one being it had a decent sized garden for the dogs.

It's been raining heavily for the past hour here and the wind is beginning to pick up. It's forecast to last until midnight on Saturday and we've been told to prepare for power cuts. I've just fetched a bag of logs in and charged my torch. 😁

I hope everyone else stays safe, warm and dry.

@SpanielsGalore my in-laws were cremated at Moray crem. I remember it being a stunning view- the weather certainly helped on both days we were there.

Weather is gross here. We’ve just had a big log delivery this week so the fire is on and we’re very cosy! Each time I’ve walked V today he’s been grumbling at me when we get home like it’s my fault he’s soggy. Just call me Mother Nature.

The harness and lead lovely @SpanielsGalore sent me to try has arrived today. So once I work out how on earth it actually fits we’re going to test it out tomorrow. It’s very confusing 😅

Weather is pretty horrific here but I managed somehow to not get wet at all on either walk, just windswept. Pupsy was like a yearling on the gallops with the wind up between her legs, bless her. As a consequence we didn't see anyone else which is no bad thing.

Met a lovely five-month-old lab pup this morning with a lady who was taking a lot of care over his training, which was so nice to see. I was reminded again how lovely labs can be – even if they can be really boring and robotic – but only really at that size. If only there could be a much smaller line developed without having to cross it with something else as he was 17kg and I thought that was the ideal size.

Nooooo Vinny is licking his paw again and won’t let me touch it 😩 He finished his 7 days of anti-inflammatory medicine earlier this week and I thought we were in the clear as he literally hasn’t touched it since the day I took him to the vets.

@YorkshireFelix Oh bugger. I hope it's not going to be an annoying niggley problem that takes ages to heal.

Ok I haven’t tried the double ended lead part yet because the Bullybillows ladder lead arrived and I was too excited to use it. But we love the harness and you were so right that it looks lovely against his fur @SpanielsGalore 🥰

Also the Bullybillows lead is FANTASTIC. It’s exactly what I was looking for. You can have a longer lead or easily grab one of the handles for different lengths. I just walked him on the harness and BB lead and it was great!

I don’t know if it’s the weather but I had to walk Vinny 3 times in a 90 minute window to try and get him to do a poo yesterday, and today I’ve just got back from a 4th decent walk this afternoon and he still won’t go!! And he’s annoyed at me every time like it’s my fault!

@YorkshireFelix does he only do a poo when he’s away from home?
It’s always a bonus when M does a poo near a bin!

Yes it’s highly annoying!! He won’t do a wee in the garden either. So we have to walk him as soon as we wake up and just before we go to bed. This morning it would have been so nice to stay in pyjamas and just let him out into the yard. He keeps barking at me and scooting across the floor so I know he needs a shit!!

How's his paw today? Must be a pain when a dog won't toilet in their own garden. Especially in this weather.

We haven't been out today. The weather is awful. The main road has been blocked for hours due to fallen trees. It's not safe to go to the woods and the wind is too strong to walk along the sea front. K has amused herself by chasing sparrows and flying leaves around the garden. The others are more sensible and are snoozing in the warm.

I feel your pain. Bill won't either, unless under extreme duress - he refused his evening walk last night and woke me up at 3:45am for a wee 😬

@SpanielsGalore I don’t blame you! I’m going to have to take him out again in a sec to try and coax the poo out 😐 I’ve just lit the fire so at least we’ll be toasty when we get back. He’s not bothered with his paw at all since I noticed last night, which is weird.

@Bupster nooooooo that is the worst!! I have walked V in my pyjamas more times than I care to admit.

It gets to a point where I'm as tired as he is and delighted he's refusing - though in fairness he's only refused a last walk a handful of times, and last night was the first time in months he's needed to wake me up.

On the upside, I'm raising money for the Dogs Trust by doing their Dogtober walking challenge and I'm currently fifth in the distance table 😄

Here he is with a teeny tiny stick he tried to bring home but couldn't get it through the gate, so we had to turn around and go back to add it to his nest 🙄

Wow fifth is good going!!! I am pleased to report we’ve just been out and he’s finally pooped 🙌🏻

Vinny has taken to picking up sticks on his walks now but he tries to walk and chew them at the same time. He’s loved it the past couple of days because there’s sticks galore all over the pavements. And a load of cardboard has blown out of a skip up the road which is now all gross and soggy and that’s his favourite type of cardboard to shred (don’t ask me how I know this!).

How long will it be before I can put the toilet roll back on the holder without K stealing it?

My Labrador re thiever is now 4 - 😂 still stealing
