Please could you let me know if you have had any experience of Adevantia in Stafford or Hounds of Harvington for Cockapoos or Cavapoos.

Potential first time puppy owners here, feeling wary and want to get it right.

Thank you.

I had a cocker and have had multiple springers. I’ll never have another cocker. He was way too clever, so many health issues, food guarding, fighting, ended up with cocker rage. Loved him to bits but he was hard work.
All the springers were ace.

@KingRoland ive just found this thread as I’m currently exactly where you were having the same dilemma. Did you get a poodle in the end?

Please go to Dogs Trust or similar and adopt a dog. They will help you find a dog that matches your family and lifestyle, and provide you with ongoing support and training help with the dog. You can even foster to see how you get on with a dog before decking if you want to actually keep them forever.

Stop buying puppies from these -apoo breeders. Many are unethical and you could end up with a neurotic high strung dog with all kinds of issues.

“Fundamentally the thing that all of these dogs have in common is that they are sold as suitable for families and first time dog owners, which as a demographic tend to behave in a similar way with their dogs, and follow a similar training funnel that results in most of the issues that we see as professional behaviour specialists. In essence, the poodle cross represents “all of the things that go wrong if you follow the standardised status quo training process”.

@KaleQueenI did get a poodle! He’s almost 1 now and gorgeous! He looks like a little teddy bear and we get some many compliments and people coming over to say hi to him. He’s so friendly and loves attention and cuddles. He’s also intelligent and calm. Some people are surprised to hear he is a poodle as he does look like a cockapoo / cavapoo with his haircut.

Our groomer has spoken about her most difficult clients being cockapoos through their misbehaviour and our neighbour has found theirs to be very bouncy and difficult and even said they wished they had got a poodle instead. I have recently heard of so many rescue cockapoos from puppy farms and homes where people can’t manage.
