Poodle or doodle? (Lighthearted game)

So in the other thread about doodles many people claim doodles are cuter than poodles and doodles have a different look to poodles.

Whereas I am asked DAILY what my poodle is crossed with as no one seems to know what a poodle looks like anymore in not in a poodle cut.

Sooo lighthearted game of poodle or doodle!

Can you guess which of these dogs is a poodle or doodle?

Imo third pic is a poodle, fourth is a poodle.

I really want to say the fifth one (in someones arms) isn't a poodle based on it's eyes...

I’d say 1 and 3 are doodles, the rest poodles. If 2 is a poodle then I want a poodle.

Some 'Doodles' will look more Poodle and some less so. I love actual Poodles, especially Standard Poodles, not so keen on Doodles though. Poodles are much more elegant imho.

I would say-
1 Poodle x lab
2 looks too short legged to be a toy poodle so possibly X with small terrier
3 Poodle
4 Poodle x Bichon fries
5 I'm not sure about, might be easier if we could see more of it.

I know two litter mates, both cockerpoos. One is so poodle it's difficult to tell, the other is a fluffy cocker spaniel. I had a miniature poodle for 17 years, they're fantastic dogs. ( and definitely should be clipped properly imho)

1, 3, 4 = poodles. 2 and 5 = doodles.

They are ALL poodles!

Pic 1 is a standard poodle

Pic 2 and pic 5 is actually the same dog, my 4 month old Minature poodle puppy. In pic 5 she’d just been groomed and for some reason they blow dried her straight!

Pic 3 is also a standard poodle

Pic 4 is a toy poodle

So my point is proven lol. Most doodles look like unshaved poodles!

Everyone thinks my girl is a doodle (including most on this post) but she’s a KC reg miniature poodle with no doubt about her ancestry at all. Combo of not having a shaved face and being a puppy clearly makes her doodle like.

Same here, I'm asked multiple times a day about my miniature poodle and people can't believe he's not crossed with something. Nope, he's just a curly dog as no classic poodle cut.

Wow! It’s all in the haircut. A doodle shaved like a poodle looks like a poodle. A poodle not shaved looks like a doodle.

What I love about poodles is you can basically have them in any style you want!

I think it depends what angle the photo is from - a side on view of the head orvof the dog standing would perhaps show the long nose or overall body shape better.

Here's our standard poodle! We're constantly asked if he's a doodle when we're out and about!

She gets mistaken for a poodle ALL THE TIME.

Bumped into an old lady with a lovely white poodle in a lamb cut coming out the vets the other week and she exclaimed "oh it's lovely to see another proper poodle" (I now have her cut proper Pom-pom frou frou now.. so fun 🐩)

I didn't have the heart to tell her she's actually a cockerpoo 😅 I just stood there and went "yeahhhhh so nice aren't they" 😬🫣

I love it when I see standard poodles out and about, they're glorious (expensive) beings. I have never seen one in the flesh groomed like a gorgeous pom-pom though which is a shame - I'd love to! Only on instagram in rich people's houses!

I would have gone for 2, 3 and 4 as poodles.
I only included number 2 because I recognised your puppy photo. I didn't realise number 5 was also your puppy. She looks totally different.

The only time you can see my puppy’s shape is when she’s wet and then she looks like a totally different dog!

I wouldn't have initially said that dog was a 100% poodle tbh, based on the overall shape and the colouring, but I believe that you are sure she is and am not here to argue with you regarding that. I think traditionally poodles often had a closer cut, and the slightly 'hairier' versions nowadays hide the characteristic slender aspect of them - which would agree with you saying her shape is only visible when wet. Also, if she is a puppy she might be more 'round' than her adult shape will be. She's cute either way.

Well, if you cut the hair traditional poodle style it will resemble a poodle more than if you don't cut it that way. I would say your doodle is perhaps a doodle which is more toward the poodle end though, or a poodle with 'strong' genes has been in the (initial) mix.
