I've buckled and started the new thread - welcome to the horror of adolescence!

We looking after a friend's 14 monthly Bichon.
Any tips on dealing with a dog that keeps lifting his leg and peeing around our house? I think 6 times since Sunday evening. He has 2 walks a day plus a trip out in the garden every couple of hours.
I think they are planning on having him castrated soon.

He also has absolutely no recall at all, and bothers us when we're eating at the table. We never feed pets from the table.

Oui Madame, I have clocked your unusually pouty lips just now, and I can see the chunk of soil that's sticking out of your gob...😏

(she's convinced I can't tell 😂)

By the way you forgot to pencil your right brow again...

That's a difficult one @AllFurCoatAndFrillyKnickers , my sister-in-law's collie peed in our kitchen when they visited our house. All you can really do is confine him to one area and either put some newspaper or a washable mat down. It's probably some sort of territorial marking not a genuine need to toilet.

As regards table manners that's more conditioning from young and it sounds as if you're aware of that.

Sorry this is not helpful at all, but there probably isn't a quick fix other than confining the dog to one area. Good luck.

So the resident guard dog is out doing her usual thing, but she's giving me some evil side-eye here, because she knows I saw her pick up a chunk of sod from our snow-decimated lawn...

That expression! Love it

Look at his gorgeous feathering and that chest hair, he's like a proper dandy!

CaptainBeanThief · 18/01/2025 13:21

I have to take all my cushions off as he takes them off himself and drags them around 👀

Brie goes rummaging under our sofa cushions looking for stray tissues to shred up.

YorkshireFelix · 18/01/2025 14:08

I've removed all my nice cushions from the sofa for the same reason!

CaptainBeanThief · 18/01/2025 14:12

We are going out for a run soon, when my husband finishes work
In the mean time we are playing games with his food as otherwise later on he will be a complete nightmare!!
How are we all doing today ( there are too many of you to tag 🫣🤣)

Nella68 · 18/01/2025 14:18

@CaptainBeanThief all good here thanks. Midge is very happy as he’s found a nice pile of cat poo 🤢

CaptainBeanThief · 18/01/2025 14:22

@Nella68
Oh god, I remember once, we were at my mum's and Milo was eating something which I didn't know and I fished it out of his mouth and it was my mum's cats poo mixed with cat litter, I bleached my hands 🤢🤢
He enjoys the rabbit droppings as well
Dogs are disgusting.
How are you both after the incident with the boxer?

CoubousAndTourmalet · 18/01/2025 14:24

We're about to go walkies with Little Miss Snooty Drawers.

Nella68 · 18/01/2025 14:33

@CaptainBeanThief we went back to the scene of the crime this morning. I didn’t realise how anxious I would feel but that hurdle is done. Midge had his tail down when a couple of large dogs (saluki and Bernese mountain dog) were staring at him (his tail is usually up when he sees dogs), so I do think he was a bit unsure. We walked past briskly.

Will be walking near my daughter’s riding school which is on the edge of a bit of a dodgy housing estate. I hope we don’t encounter too many cane corsos/ bully breeds.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 18/01/2025 14:36

Oh gosh, take care @Nella68 and stay safe x

CaptainBeanThief · 18/01/2025 14:43

@Nella68
For what it's worth I absolutely think you're doing the right thing - showing him it is ok and not all dogs are the same.
Keeping him at a distance and slowly building him back up. :-)
I've had many situations with Milo which hes gotten himself into a dangerous situation) nothing as terrible as this, I'm just making an example) but we have just gone back and done the task, same place and it hasn't had a lasting affect.
So hopefully midge will feel better if you stick at it.
X

Ey up!
I pop on after weeks to ask a random question in the dog house and see my name, and nicely! Who knew? A forum can actually be a nice place sometimes.
It’s great that this thread is still running, though I think I missed out on the last one, and even better to read that everyone and their pups are doing well 😊.
We're all good, Brodie is 11 months on Monday and a proper little character who makes me laugh every day...a bit different from the endless tears of last summer!
He's not much trouble at all apart from the usual adolescent mischief. He's still far from perfect on a lead but has massively improved and is manageable now.
The mutt waiting for his tea...

My dreams have come true 🤩

BrodiePup · 18/01/2025 17:19

@YorkshireFelix 👋
@CaptainBeanThief I don't think I've ever made someone's dreams come true 🤣

CoubousAndTourmalet · 18/01/2025 17:27

So lovely to see you@BrodiePup (your ears must have been burning last night 😉), glad to hear that all is going well.

Brodie looks wonderful!

BrodiePup · 18/01/2025 17:30

Brie is still a beauty 🥰

CoubousAndTourmalet · 18/01/2025 17:34

Thanks @BrodiePup
Lead biting aside, she is a sweet and lovely girl.
