I've buckled and started the new thread - welcome to the horror of adolescence!

@YorkshireFelix Hahah I know, it’s so tragic isn’t it!! You are seriously welcome to dump him here any time if you need a full night’s sleep. He’ll get the message pretty quick as pupsy will not stand for any shit at bedtime – she puts me to bed rather than the other way round!

Hahaha @CaptainBeanThief, @Bupster has the same thing with Bill and the car – he’s fine in other people’s cars but the devil’s spawn in hers! Bloody dogs. Who'd have 'em?

CaptainBeanThief · 25/02/2025 17:42

Speaking of cars...Do you all remember my nice, car cover?
Ye well it's ripped to fucking shreds because everytime my husband leaves the car, say to nip in a shop on the way to the park, woods he rags it around kicking off because he's left him behind, when I get out, nothing, he doesn't give a shit.
I just haven't bought a new one even though it's more of a decoration rather than fit for purpose 😬

Bupster · 25/02/2025 19:45

Good lord, there's a lot to catch up on! @CaptainBeanThief , lovely to see you back here but what a shitty thing to happen. I'm so, so sorry. I would be in absolute bits. I know how strongly I feel about Bill, despite him being an absolute piss-taking hooligan. @YorkshireFelix I can't believe he still won't sleep. Godalmighty. Do you have a spare room? Could one of you try bringing him into the bed in either your bedroom or the spare so at least one of you gets some bloody sleep and there's half a chance the other will too? I'm sure you've thought of all this too.

In very minor news, the hooligan is coping marginally better in the car. I bought a little wedge cushion to go under the seat cover, to replace the bed I had in there, and I'm clipping him in using an over the headrest harness - a new, shorter one, so he can't actually get into the front seat to try to drive (other than driving me nuts, obvs). Anyway, now he has more freedom to move around, his objections seem to be more about the fact that I won't stop on the A46 to let him out when he's seen a nice ditch or a seagull he wants to eat. And he had a lovely play with a five month Golden Retriever this evening at the dog park so it's at least possible he's beginning to come out of his Angry Young Man phase.

Finally, has anyone tried the Ladies' Working Gundog Group? I've just joined and they seem to have a vast amount of resources for the money. Hoping between that and our Juvenile Delinquent Class on a Sunday we might at least get the illusion of progress.

@Bupster is turning into Milo 😬🤣🤣
I wish you good luck ( keep your seat belts safe) and I wish you good luck for your life, dogs are evil 🙈

Bupster · 25/02/2025 19:57

Does Milo fart like someone's crammed fourteen tonnes of baked beans into a goat and added a bellows? Because if so then yes. I can nearly see the pot plants wilting in real time.

Apropos of absolutely nothing I was looking for fart metaphors (as you can see I'm not very good at them) and I came across the most glorious academic article called the Metaphysics of Farting, which contains the eternal lines, "Farts must be farted. A fart is not a fart if it is not farted. That is, a fart-thing must have its origin in a fart-act." I've clearly wasted my life. Link here if you have an evening to lose: www.cambridge.org/core/journals/think/article/metaphysics-of-farts/6BD856AD874E9B23DC0AAD80CB465397

I am absolutely sure that Bill could drive a car. Why don't you just stop being mean and let him have a turn?

We do have a spare room but it's teeny tiny and houses our heated airer, laundry baskets and ironing board. He has a bloody field day when he manages to sneak in there and go wild in the washing. DH doesn't actually mind sleeping on the sofa because he stays up late after finishing up at the restaurant anyway, but it would be nice to sleep in the same bed as him once in a while as we don't see each other otherwise! I've said to him we need to decide on some sort of plan of action and rigidly stick to it until we see some progress. We have stuck out various things for days on end but maybe we could be more consistent?

Anyway I know I have said this a few days ago but I really do appreciate you all listening to me bang on about this for the past month, and for you all trying your best to give me advice. It must be tedious reading about me having the same issue constantly but it has helped so much just being able to vent and sound it out with people who get it!

Here's some dog tax of the wise wizard enjoying a belly rub.

Do you ever look at them and think that absolutely cannot be comfortable 😖

CaptainBeanThief · 25/02/2025 20:34

@YorkshireFelix
Sometimes I can't even figure out where he starts or begins 🤣🤣🤣

brushingboots · 26/02/2025 09:27

@peachgreen We're over here x

peachgreen · 26/02/2025 09:51

Thank you @brushingboots! The puppy thread saved my sanity as you know, so I’m sure this one will too!

brushingboots · 26/02/2025 09:53

YorkshireFelix · 26/02/2025 10:02

Welcome @peachgreen 🙏🏻

Nella68 · 26/02/2025 11:23

@peachgreen welcome! This thread has helped me when times have been tough with my naughty teenager!

Here he is- looking embarrassed at having to wear his onesie. I’m so glad I put it on him; it poured on our walk and the old golf course turned into a swamp. He usually takes hours to dry but today it’s just his lower legs and feet that are still wet.

@Nella68
Hahahaha he looks like a cutie 🥰
Your car looks like mine 🤣🤣

CaptainBeanThief · 26/02/2025 16:45

Hello everyone, hope everyone is good and the hooligans are not causing too much trouble ( @Bupster I'm looking at you 😁)

One of Milos knees have just dislocated and I've had to help pop it back in, I suppose now I know what the problem is, I can help. I'm going to look at getting some leg supports as I don't want to do damage manually putting it back in. We are back in the vets in the next week(s).

brushingboots · 26/02/2025 17:09

Crikey, @CaptainBeanThief, poor boy! I genuinely don’t know if I’d know what to do if that happened to pupsy, except ring the vets in panic. Leg supports sound very sensible. Is he still quite woozy and chilled?

CaptainBeanThief · 26/02/2025 17:12

@brushingboots
I just rolled him on his side and very gently manipulated it. Like I said, I am not prepared to keep doing it as I'm not qualified however, it was done and dusted and he was fine.
He's half and half he's definitely more chilled overall but keeps having burst of energy - that's why it popped out. He's chilled out now again asleep on my mum's floor.
Hows pup?

Nella68 · 26/02/2025 17:20

Oh gosh @CaptainBeanThief. How do you know when it’s dislocated- does it cause him a lot of pain? I’ve been in thinking about Milo today and hoping that he’s been ok

I looked up luxating patella and saw the video on the PDSA site. There’s a little Jack Russell near us that does the little hopping limp and carries on. I thought they had an itch but it must be LP that pops itself back in again.

I love this thread! Here’s my dopey pooch’s least comfortable looking pose.

brushingboots · 26/02/2025 17:50

@CaptainBeanThief Well done you! Bless him.

She is currently passed out sparko on top of me which is considerate of her since we ought to be going out for her evening outing imminently. We got so wet this morning on the world’s rainiest walk that she actually looked like she’d been in the shower.

CaptainBeanThief · 26/02/2025 17:55

@Nella68
He whimpers then his leg just goes floppy and flaps about - and he starts biting it. He's right as rain now playing with his toys.

@CaptainBeanThief Oh god poor Milo and poor you! I wouldn't know what to do either and would also call the vet in a panic!! You are a trooper.

YorkshireFelix · 26/02/2025 18:36

@Zippedydodah 😂😂😂😂
