Setting the ball rolling on a new thread as the last one has reached 1k 😊.

Brodie had his first proper bath today...
I don't think he was overly impressed!

He'll be 6 months old on Tuesday. I can't believe how the time has passed, or how far along we've come.

To everyone who is struggling at the moment, stick with it, it really does get easier.

@YorkshireFelix he couldn’t get the food out the first time we tried him with a kong but now he has the knack it seems & can lick it clean in a few minutes. It can be a good distraction tool in a cafe for example so maybe worth another try.

BrodiePup · 17/09/2024 21:56

@lookwhatyoumademedoo Max is very handsome, he's a similar age to Brodie who will be 7 months on Friday.
BTW... they're not ears, they're selective hearing flaps 🤣
@YorkshireFelix Customer service is really good at Millie's and they do sample puppy packs to try them on.

our seven month old has started biting (mouthing) again recently. Standing on his hind legs and biting my arms (not hard). He had stopped doing this completely for the last couple of months. Is it normal for them to regress? He seems very excited when he’s doing it. He has all his adult teeth (unless they get extra molars later like human teenagers?).

I think as long as he's not hurting you or piercing the skin don't worry too much. He'll probably grow out of it but if not then it's possibly just part of his bond with you. Sometimes I think they are just being tactile and showing affection when they try to mouth us.

Even as an adult our male would sometimes put his jaws right around my forearm without applying any pressure. My husband used to tell me off and say it was dangerous (because this dog was massive) and that I shouldn't allow him to do it but it was just part of the relationship I had with Algy and he never hurt me. It usually indicated he wanted a sit on the floor cuddle and chest rub ❤

Bupster · 18/09/2024 18:48

@YorkshireFelix Bill was on Eukanuba too and I'm also easing him off it because he was bored out of his mind - obviously only after I'd bought a massive sack of the stuff 🙄I'm going to slowly shift him to Millie's Wolfheart 50/50 gundog, but very slowly (as much so I can use up the last of the Eukanuba as worrying about his delicate belly). He also has a wet food topper - one of the Forthglade trays over three days - again to try to alleviate the boredom. He's been much more likely to eat his food since I've mixed it up a bit, but I'm hoping the shift to Millie's will firm up his poo as he can still have some very, um, wobbly days, shall we say.

@newusern9999 Mine's too little to have experienced this yet but they do have more adult teeth than puppy teeth so yours could well still be teething!

YorkshireFelix · 18/09/2024 19:42

@Bupster ah it's good to hear you have the same plans! Vinny had his first ever runny poo today right on my nice rug 🤢 I've never been so glad to own a carpet cleaner!

I'm going to call Millie's tomorrow and see what they suggest. I think we've got about a third of the giant Eukanuba bag left.

It doesn't rain.... It pours!
It's not really relevant here but, I tried to stop my mum's car being stolen on the 15th I was dragged down the road ( by the car) then when I fell off, they rammed my hip and I fell and banged my head. I was in the road for ages.
They arrested someone at the scene just hanging about.
I'm bruised, sore, absolutely traumatised.
Milo is being a cute god send. He's being a cuddly good boy.

YorkshireFelix · 18/09/2024 22:16

@CaptainBeanThief oh my gosh that is horrendous!! I am so sorry!

Bloody Hell, how awful 😱Of course its relevant here! I hope you got checked out at hospital after the head bump... It's not surprising you're feeling traumatised, it sounds like a terrifying experience.

Glad to hear your lovely boy is looking after you so well.

Sending you good wishes for fast healing 💐

CaptainBeanThief · 18/09/2024 22:43

Yes, once I was found by a dog walker ha ha how ironic 😅 if I wasn't vomitting I would have stroked the beauty
The police turned up minutes then the ambulance I am on blood thinners I have a head injury but no bleed detected yet.
I have a broken hand and I have road rash everywhere on my left. My hand is hurting the most.
I have lost my confidence in driving.
I keep ringing 101 for updates but they won't tell me "only the investigating officer will tell me" the investigation is still open
Normally with stolen cars, if they don't have a suspect they just close it until they do so I'm hopeful.
The officer is going to ring me once he's back on shift.
I feel so awful for my mum, I feel guilty I couldn't stop them from stealing their car. I'm devastated and every time I close my eyes I see his face.
My little baby is comforting me. I've been getting out walking him though.
Xx

@CaptainBeanThief
Everything about this is hellish!!!
I don't know what else to say except that cuddling Milo will be the best medicine for sure. Dogs are so perceptive when things aren't right, I bet he wont leave your side.

Go easy on yourself and get well soon.

Twiglets1 · 19/09/2024 04:58

So sorry to hear that @CaptainBeanThief ♥️

You’ve been through a traumatic experience. I hope they arrest someone so you get some sort of closure but how awful!

BrodiePup · 19/09/2024 07:47

@CaptainBeanThief That's horrendous! You must've been terrified. Take good care of yourself and I hope the flashback's ease off quickly. Get well soon with help from your boy xx

@CaptainBeanThief that is so so so scary. Don't feel guilty, I think your health is much more important than a car. I hope you recover quickly Flowers

YorkshireFelix · 19/09/2024 08:44

My DH took V to the vets for the second part of his 2nd vax and he's just informed me that the vet told us wrong about the waiting time for walks! It was actually 2 weeks after the first part for pavement walks then another 1 week to go everywhere. So he can go out walking now! And I can take him all over from Monday!! I don't know why he didn't tell me this after the appointment but never mind. I did think it sounded excessive when she told us the first time around.

Also V rang the bells on the back door to go outside last night and again this morning. This morning he did it and then peed literally a second later but then he rang again straight away to go outside and do a poo. Small progress but I am thrilled!

AubrieDog · 19/09/2024 08:47

Great news on both counts @YorkshireFelix . Life is about to get a lot easier and more exciting for you and Vinny!

Twiglets1 · 19/09/2024 09:09

That’s amazing @YorkshireFelix

Im jealous. Roman did a wee on the kitchen floor yesterday afternoon after being given the opportunity to go outside 🤦‍♀️

Two steps forward one step back!

JessiesHuman · 19/09/2024 10:17

@CaptainBeanThief OMG that's awful! How terrifying that must have been.

Glad that Milo's looking after you, I hope you make a speedy recovery and that he's charged with some very serious offences.

YorkshireFelix · 19/09/2024 10:40

Just a short 15 mins but he did about 50% excited pulling and 50% walking to heel looking at me. You don't realise how much random crap is on the ground until you walk a puppy!

AubrieDog · 19/09/2024 10:43

Awwww 💗 those first little walks are so exciting!!!

And yes, you have to be a crap monitor with regard to what's on the ground 🙄

CaptainBeanThief · 19/09/2024 10:58

Milo is walking better on his halti harness and lead.
Not breaking my back or arm which is better because of my injuries.
I managed to get in the car this morning - I traveled down the motorway to my mum's this morning. I was very anxious about driving but I did it.
I am ringing the police daily however the car hasn't been found as of yet - the investigating officer is meant to be ringing me as the case is still open.
I'm thinking of going back to a and e later when my husband finishes work as my head is pounding this morning and it's really hurting to move my eyes and I felt sick whilst driving looking at the sun. I'm on blood thinners and the first CT showed no bleed but I did whack my head off the concrete floor which nocked me out.
My little Milo seems to be coming out of adolescence and becoming a great DOG.
I will have to move on from the group or maybe I'll stay here forever as he will always be my puppy dog.

@CaptainBeanThief yes definitely go and get seen again as that sounds worrying. Please take care of yourself! I am really glad Milo is doing so well 🙏🏻

Twiglets1 · 19/09/2024 11:11

Stay and give some hope @CaptainBeanThief to those of us that are further behind you & Milo that it will get better one day.

AubrieDog · 19/09/2024 11:11

@CaptainBeanThief

He's gorgeous and he definitely qualifies as a puppy so don't move on, I think Brodiepup still needs your expert guidance anyway😉

Please go to A&E again about your head.

CaptainBeanThief · 19/09/2024 11:14

@AubrieDog sorry, I think @BrodiePup is beyond help and I can't help anymore Brodie is too far gone 😅😅🫢
