Thoughts on ‘Enfield’ as name for Cockapoo?

Just this really.

My main dilemma is that whilst I would be happy with that name for a male puppy, I am not sure it suits a female.

I have a special reason for wanting to use the name.

I don’t have a puppy yet, and haven’t 100% decided whether to choose a boy or girl. I have experience with both.

Not keen, TBH. Have you been to Enfield?

Bit of a long name for a dog

Um. You certainly won’t meet another one 🥴 I don’t live far from Enfield, and it just conjures up images of a really depressing, bleak and ugly place.

I don’t think it matters if the dog is male or female.

Yes, I see your point. Enfield is fine for a boy, but really Haringay works better for a girl doesn’t it?

Makes me think of the poltergeist and the rifle, but I still quite like it. Not sure as a name for a bitch, but it could could still work.

Are poodle crosses noble enough for that sort of name?

These replies have been very helpful, as everyone has assumed it is the place. I hadn’t thought about that.
My interest in is is from the motorbike manufacturer, Royal Enfield. I suppose that might have originated from the town.

Not so much an assumption as an association and it's only a bit better than, say, Jaywick.

There's an Enfield in Ireland too, really sorry op but personally I wouldn't love it for a name anyway, very posh and stoic sounding or something!!!

Oh dear. I didn’t know about the rifle, and I don’t think I want to live with a Poltergeist either - although I currently live with a Working Cocker so probably not much difference 😀

If you want it… go for it! There are all sorts of dog names out there, the doggy daycare has loads of names… ghost.. cheese.. goose. If you’re happy to call go across the park, then go for it!

As it’s Royal Enfield you would be naming the dog for, how about Roy? For a male, obvs.

Any name should be one you can call out in public. Probably OK.

It seems that many of us know fuck all about Enfield and thinking Harry instead .🙄

Take inspiration from the ‘Royal’ and go old school with Rex. None of those about anymore!

Surely for a female dog it should be Regina?😂
