My ddog has died suddenly, I’m devastated.

My beautiful 10 year old girl, apparently healthy, has died suddenly tonight.
We think it must have been a seizure or similar. She was barking through the patio doors at a squirrel in the garden.
She suddenly collapsed and let out a little cry and was gone.
We rang the emergency vet but it was obvious she’d gone.

I feel as if my heart will break.
I want her to wake up.

We've laid her on her towel in a box and dh will take her to the vet tomorrow morning.
I’m just in shock. And the pain. It’s horrible.

😢 Oh my goodness what a terrible shock. 10 isn’t even old really (depending on the breed) but you obviously weren’t expecting to have to say goodbye so soon. It really is the worst pain and leaves such a huge hole in your lives. So sorry

I am so sorry for your loss @MonsieurSpade . A terrible shock for you. The suddenness of this will make your grief even worse I'm sure. It's bad enough when we see these things coming but I know I would feel even worse if something so sudden happened to my dog. Perhaps in time it will give you some comfort to know that she didn't suffer long and that there was absolutely nothing you could have done to stop this happening. 💐

So very sorry, how shocking for you. I’ve had lots of pets and lost two in a similar way so empathise deeply. I was discussing it with my vet recently and he said that the causes are likely to be heart issues, aneurysm or stroke. All of which would be instantaneous for your beloved little dog and there is nothing you could have done to change the outcome. Don’t be afraid to seek help, I found the suddenness very difficult and got quite stuck in the stages of grief.

I am so sorry - but in time I hope it brings you comfort that your girl was content and happily doing her usual dog things and then in an instant she was gone. I think from a dog's point of view what a lovely way to go. But of course from our viewpoint a dreadful shock. Dogs are such wonderful creatures; sending gentle hugs.

She was called Mitzi.
A beautiful, cheeky ball of fluff.

She loved food.
And stealing socks.

I'm so sorry. Sudden death is surely the best way to go, but very hard on loved ones who haven't had a chance to mentally prepare. Be kind to yourself ❤️ Mitzi was beautiful and had a fabulous name x

He said the vet was lovely.

I'm so sorry,have been there 3 times;all were unexpected;one of my dogs had a stroke in front of me and died minutes later.
