@Oganesson118 😅😅 I wonder if he thinks other black and white dogs are some of magic apparition of himself 😅

Im not sure he’s capable of that level of thought. Not the brightest of pooches!

devildeepbluesea · 05/04/2024 20:04

DDog hates the big red dragon (Henry Hoover). Unlike my late lamented female JRT who was hard as nails and used to pick a fight with it.
Current dog also loves to hate the 3 dogs that live over the road. Every time we go past their house he starts up this ludicrous wail-screech-yap noise which is ear-splitting and most embarrassing early on a Sunday morning.
He tends to love all other dogs apart from one lovely looking big shaggy brown dog. Mine is tiny, white and floofy but definitely reckons he could take Big Brown Dog in a fight, and goes for him every time we pass the poor chap.

PastTheGin · 05/04/2024 20:10

Ddog hates helmets, umbrellas, hippo bags (skip bags), people in wetsuits, the Morrisons delivery vans (not bothered about other supermarkets), the word “oi!” and when dd calls out “mum”.

pigsDOfly · 05/04/2024 20:24

Any flying things that come into the house: flies, daddy longlegs, moths, anything like that and she's across the room and upstairs like an arrow.

Next door's cat when it sits on the fence.

Squirrels when they sit on, or run along our fence.

A squirrel came up to our back door a while back and stared through the glass; never seen, or heard her, so upset and angry.

BatteryPoweredPeacock · 05/04/2024 20:27

The wheely bin - but only when it is not in The Usual Place.

Aerin1999 · 05/04/2024 20:28

Tin foil!! The sound tin foil makes when you pull a sheet out!

BatteryPoweredPeacock · 05/04/2024 20:28

... and he used to hate Opera. Like really hate it.

But then he grew up and now doesn't mind it as much.

clickclackclue · 05/04/2024 20:33

Bin bags! Every time I have to change the bin and shake the new bag to put inside, he panics and runs away Grin

SirChenjins · 05/04/2024 20:39

The neighbour’s cat - who revels in watching ChenDog tie himself up in an angry knot

The postie and other delivery drivers - apparently their knock at the door means the house is under attack

The dog round the corner - he hates this dog with an absolute passion. No idea why, it trots along quietly minding its own business

Cylists who whizz past and don’t let us know they’re behind us on narrow paths. He has a point there - for a small dog who only comes about half way up the wheel it must be terrifying.

Umbrellas

A random woman who loves along the road. She has a very reactive dog herself that can’t even be walked so she’s v understanding.

moiraswigs · 12/04/2024 20:54

Mine is also otrb but in no particular order he got riled up with:

Cars with trailers
Big dogs were all the enemy and he could 100% take them if I'd only let him at 'em
Lorries
Birds on the fence
A random leaf blowing across the garden
The noise when you squash a cardboard box
Anyone daring to walk past our house (he kept a daily watch for potential wronguns)
Our neighbours cat, who used to come to the back door to taunt him or sit on the wall as we walked past and miaow loudly
Our lovely post lady
He was also scared of piles of leaves, but loved snow.
Hated walking through puddles but loved drinking puddle water
Hated barking dogs on tv.
I miss him every day. He was such a fun, loving and loved wee man.

nearly55 · 15/04/2024 15:05

Cats
Anything that makes a buzzing sound - insects, motorbikes, drones (he was stung by a wasp several times so understandable)
People that are standing still when we are out for a walk
People that wear sunhats with a brim
Vacuum cleaners
Dogs that look like a wolf
People moving their wheelie bins (although he loves to pee on said bins once they have been moved)
Chair / car seat covers
Any kind of fruit or vegetable
Electricity pylons

crazyBadger · 15/04/2024 15:17

Wind, rain, motorbikes under covers...and the "bad" postman (normal postie is in his top 10 of humans)

faffadoodledo · 15/04/2024 15:25

Trains. Hates being on them (only happened once and he spent the whole journey quivering with tail between legs) and hates coming to stations even when it's to pick up one of his favourite humans. Poor baby.

CheapThrillsMeanNothing · 15/04/2024 15:33

I just asked DDog and he said being woken up with silly questions.

RubiesandRose · 15/04/2024 15:50

The hoover, any type of broom or mop.

Any lack of attention or attention given to other pets or humans. Basically he gets all the love and woe betide anyone who tries to give it elsewhere!

Being woken up for any reason but it is slightly forgiveable if food or a walk is involved.

Rain, not a fan of getting wet and can move backwards inside at a great speed if it's detected early enough.

Gets very grumpy if his bed doesn't feel right. Lots of huffing and puffing and accusatory looks until you sort it out for him.

Dog food, in his ideal world he would sit and the table and eat human food with us!

ThePure · 23/04/2024 05:03

Motorbikes. Especially loud ones. This is the bane of my life and makes him difficult to walk near any road as he will bark and lunge at them. It's mainly the noise. He stiffens as soon as he hears one. Stationary ones are no issue.
Postmen and delivery drivers
Cats and foxes.

But the weirdest one of all: watering cans!
When we first had him a frog jumped out of a watering can he was sniffing and ever since then he is scared of watering cans and things that look like watering cans eg a log or street furniture that is the wrong shape. He will often get over the mistaken ones after he gets a bit closer and gives it a sniff but actual watering cans he gives a wide berth to and barks at.

ThePure · 23/04/2024 05:11

Oh yeh and water
Rivers, ponds and the sea he will never go in
If he sees other dogs swimming he will run up and down the bank clearly convinced they are drowning
Sometimes we see people wild swimming in the river and he acts like he's Lassie trying to get me to save them!
He has also never had a bath because of this. Any running water sound he runs away from terrified. Have just about got him to accept being misted with a water spray/ dry shampoo
If he gets muddy I just have to brush it off when it's dry.

faffadoodledo · 23/04/2024 11:54

@ThePure my dog cannot help flinging himself into any water (the muckier the better), and the moment his people go in for a sea swim he panics and launches himself in to rescue us - with his sharp claws scrabbling at our legs. We have to gently turn him round and set him off back to shore on a wave! He often goes in after random big burly surfers too, in the belief they need his help.

hiredandsqueak · 23/04/2024 12:49

The postman, any courier, anyone who knocks on any door whilst we are on a walk, fluorescent jackets and yoghurt pots because she once took a big lick at one dd put on the footstool whilst eating her lunch and then spent five minutes frantically licking to get rid of the stuff on her tongue so now she glares at any yoghurt pot she sees for fear that they jump unsuspectingly into her mouth.

heartsinvisiblefury · 23/04/2024 14:26

Collie dogs here too!
The hoover
Other people who have the audacity to enter their own front doors if he can see them
Pigeons

mac111 · 23/04/2024 14:31

Anyone who knocks at the front door. Couldn't care less who comes in the back door though.

The neighbour's dog, but only when it's behind the fence, likes him if we see them on a walk.

The ironing board (she might get that from me)

benid · 23/04/2024 14:42

Horses with riders.

Just plain horses on their own - fine. With riders - NO CHANCE 🙄

KitKatChunki · 23/04/2024 14:58

Prawns, lettuce and her flea treatment drops. She's been giving me stink eye when I put dog biscuits in the bowl at the end of the month (we've had to cut down to 3 weeks a month of butternut) and eats them very slowly and with repeated mournful looks at me while I make my morning tea...

KitKatChunki · 23/04/2024 15:00

Oh and barks her head of at the terrifying hoover and lawn mower. Must protect mum from these noisy beasts!
