OP posts:
Foxlover46 · 02/04/2024 00:43

This is such a good thread :)
Dog number 1 hates in no particular order ... cats , men , vans driving fast past him, motorbikes , balloons , flies , hairdryer , hoover , straightener clicking on as he knows I'm leaving the house , most dog food , ring doorbells, roller skates
Dog number 2 ( his brother ) ... cars , rabbits , cats , the fox getting a egg each nite though he also hates eggs , hairdryer , food blender , any kind of fan , men again , postman / any delivery driver , chopped up sausages but not whole ones
Little dog 3 .. bikes ... she's easily pleased mostly

berrypop · 02/04/2024 00:44

The broom. Not the bit that sweeps the floor, just the pole bit. (Includes any other pole-like apparatus)

Noyesnoyesok · 02/04/2024 00:48

Also Hi Viz jackets and scooters!

Giggorata · 02/04/2024 00:56

DDog 1.
Boston terriers and/or French bulldogs. One barked at her on her very first public outing as a pup and she's hated them ever since. Also hates being ignored and taps her paw on the sofa which being leather, makes a rapping sound. Very vocal when she wants something, which may include: tummy rub, ears stroked, biscuit, dinner or bed.

DDog 2.
Very jolly and tolerant of almost everything. Doesn't like people arguing.

DDog 3.
So terrified of hedgehogs, it appears visceral and similar to how I feel about spiders. Very wary of anything new, people or even farm machinery that appears overnight. Doesn't like the way cyclists silently come up behind her. Used to be frightened of horses (clip clops) when a pup but OK now. Not exactly frightened, but very concerned if I cough.

HarrietSchulenberg · 02/04/2024 00:59

Anything small and furry that moves.
Alsatians, Huskies and anything that he thinks resembles one.
The dog round the corner but the feeling is mutual, in fact I think that dog hates mine more.

grumpypedestrian · 02/04/2024 01:18

Anyone ignoring her. She will lie down on walks and stare at people until they pet her, refusing to move.

Facing her when we’re in bed at night. She’ll grumble until we turn over and only get on the bed when we ‘aren’t looking’.

Closed doors. She’ll push open the back door and leave it open even though she doesn’t want to go out.

PieonaBarm · 02/04/2024 00:13

Mine went OTRB in 2022, but a not exhaustive list is.....

Sizzling pans, next doors kids playing football/basketball, cats, birds that have the audacity to sit on his fences, labradors, golden retrievers, the hosepipe, my dads next door neighbour, my best mates ex boyfriend (tbf he was right, he was a horrible man), being in a car, the groomers, the vet, anyone walking past his house, I could go on.... bloody miss that little dog!

He sounded like a brilliant little character!

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 02/04/2024 01:40

People touching his tail, dogs that are almost as large or larger than him (is totally fine with small dogs), men carrying sticks, road works. Any kind of vehicle that is off the road like a street cleaner, crane, ride on lawn mower, even a wheelchair if there’s no one in it are terrifying and should be banned.

PieonaBarm · 02/04/2024 02:26

@EatCrow @Foxlover46 PieDog could also tell the difference between Philadelphia and supermarket own brand cream cheese - only Philadelphia would do, and M&S Ham and the cheapest, crappest ham ever from Tesco - and he would refuse the M&S ham.... he was brilliant, always kept me guessing! The best Border Terrier ever!!

Ruthietuthie · 02/04/2024 02:30

My little girl gets very upset with people dancing, particularly couples dancing together. She will jump up and use her paws to separate them.

goldenretrievermum5 · 02/04/2024 02:31

Having to eat dog food.. I would empathise with her if she was on a diet of boring kibble but she’s literally on the best quality wet food that money can buy! No brand satisfies this pooch!

Hah, what a clever little doggy! Can you post a picture?

PieonaBarm · 02/04/2024 03:08

@EatCrow I would but it might out me so I won't!! Border Terriers are awesome though!!

Oh, no problem! Thanks for sharing your lovely dog’s ways 😊

LostInTheColonies · 02/04/2024 03:28

Smoke. If she smells smoke outside, she won't go out the back door (notably for a wee before bed). She will, however, go out the front door despite it (surely!) smelling the same. Hides behind the car seat on one particular stretch of road because someone was burning off once several years ago.
Miniature schnauzers. Big ones are fine, as are other dogs of miniature schnauzer size.

On the other hand - loves fireworks, motorbikes, scooters and skateboards - which isn't really ideal when she tries to catch the wheels when someone is riding said skateboard.

Geppili · 02/04/2024 03:34

In order of hackle raising horror:

My miele
My robotvac
Fire
Fireworks
The territorial Frenchie down the street

PlantDoctor · 02/04/2024 07:35

Mine hates anything that sounds like fireworks. He also looks offended if you give him carrot, despite scrounging for it. He'll also turn his nose up at any treat if not in the right circumstances, which seems to confuse many well-meaning delivery people/neighbours on walks. He's faddy, basically

Toooldtoworry · 02/04/2024 07:45

DDog 1 Collies and the hoover are hated
DDog 2 Scared of his own shadow, and Pigeons are to be screamed at all costs
DDog 3 Squirrels are his nemesis because they move so quick!

Devilshands · 02/04/2024 07:47

Golden - fake flowers. He used to eat Camellia's as a baby (last March) and then I dragged him inside and he tried to eat some fake lavender...now every time he sees a fake plant he scowls and growls.
Dalmation - the Wok. Every time I get the Wok out she runs around the room like a headless chicken
Cocker - the hoover. She used to just ignore it, but now she's older (10) she enjoys a game of 'chase' with it when I'm hoovering. She's particularly grumpy if it goes near the other two dogs...which, tbf, I find quite endearing.

Whattodo121 · 02/04/2024 07:53

Our ddog is a collie, she hates the following things:
fireworks, the dog round the corner called Otis, people she doesn’t know trying to stroke her, dogs walking in front of the house if she’s on the sofa, dogs getting too close to her on walks or SHOCK HORROR trying to do a friendly hello. She’s like a toddler, she likes doing parallel play (ie playing alongside each other, but not actually looking at each other or interacting in any way) she also hates the hoover and the broom. She makes up for it by being the most obedient dog I’ve ever met. Yesterday she had got into a bit of the garden that we’ve fenced off because the chickens have ruined the grass so we are letting it rest. I looked out the kitchen window, clicked my fingers and pointed at the other side of the garden and she slunk off to the correct side. Having grown up with spaniels, it’s been a revelation 🤣

SidekickSylvia · 02/04/2024 08:12

My spaniel hates lorries, so if one passes while we're waiting to cross the road he'll try to take me home, as if the whole walk/park thing just isn't worth the risk. He also doesn't like collies, I'd assumed he was jealous as I'm a farmer's daughter and I've a soft spot for them (we've always had at least two on the farm), but it looks like it's a common dislike.

I love all the daft things everyone else's dog hates - they're such funny little characters.

Freysimo · 02/04/2024 08:14

LamonicBibber1 · 01/04/2024 23:04

Forgot to add, collie dogs. There is one she loves down the road but all others are THE ENEMY. Not sure why but it's a definite pattern. Maybe because they are so smart and she is so dumb.

My lurcher dislikes collies and for the same reason 😄

RosieCosy · 02/04/2024 08:16

Prawn Pringles. He's a black lab so will and does eat anything. Not prawn Pringles though!

Letsnotargue · 02/04/2024 08:24

My dog hates the window cleaner. He is so laid back in almost everything else he is permanently horizontal, but when the brush appears at the window all by itself he has to flee for his life.

He tries to chase squirrels and cats, but I think this is more for sport than hatred.

He has huge FOMO about most things, and hates to be shut out of places. Especially the kitchen, as that is where the food is and he loves to eat. This probably
only happens once a month for various reasons, and he has free rein over the rest of the house, but it is just not good enough.

RosieCosy · 02/04/2024 08:25

Our collie hates: strangers & most other dogs. She particularly hates strangers who insist on stroking her because she's laid down all submissive (she isn't, she's herding you and will run round the back once you walk past)
