My lovely dog has been there all day. I think there's something very wrong, she's gone downhill so fast.

I'm sorry. She is in good hands, you have done what you can.

Spencer0220 · 09/02/2024 14:13

I'm here. I don't have a dog 🐶 , but I have pets so I understand.

Your dog is where they need to be 🩵

strawberriesarenot · 09/02/2024 14:17

She is family. She is the glue that held the family together through very bad times. A few weeks ago when something distressing happened, I thought, well at least I have my lovely black and white dog. It feels like I jinxed her then.

Hope you get good news. They’re so precious aren’t they.

Rubyfw5 · 09/02/2024 14:18

This may not be practical depending on your commitments but could you go to the vets and sit in the waiting room? Just so you're closer to your dog and are on hand when the vet is ready to talk to you. And, if you can do that is there anyone that could go with you?

I got some bad news about our dog this week, I was on my own and didn't ask any questions. We've got an appointment on Monday and a list of questions.

I hope your news will be good 🙏🤞💐

strawberriesarenot · 09/02/2024 14:22

Thank you. I asked to stay this morning but they said no because of insurance, I think. Her blood results are bad, she's peeing blood and so miserable. She is such a kind, clever, loving dog. She looked over her shoulder at me as they took her in.

Thank you. I don't think it will be, but I hope you get some help for your dog. I must stop crying before I go in. It makes her so stressed.

MuttsNutts · 09/02/2024 14:27

It’s obvious how much you love her. Whatever the vet finds, you’ll make the right decisions for her because of that.

Please let us know when you have news 💐

strawberriesarenot · 09/02/2024 14:30

The dcs are both away abroad, she's their dog too. I don't know how I will tell them.

One step at a time lovely…

I feel this so deeply! When our family Lab was having tests at the vets, the waiting around was absolutely excruciating. Sending love

strawberriesarenot · 09/02/2024 14:42

Yes. First they said 2 and then they rang and said 3.30 so we could use the consulting room.
I've spent the whole day googling.

So sorry your lovely dog is poorly. Hope you get some good news.

strawberriesarenot · 09/02/2024 14:55

What should I ask?
She is 10. Her bloods show very low white blood cells and high calcium.
She is in obvious pain.
She has a UTI/bladder infection, the 2nd this month.
She is very intelligent.

Rubyfw5 · 09/02/2024 14:56

@strawberriesarenot okay so that sounds like it will probably be some bad news but, the vet may well want to discuss medication or treatments with you. Me and my dog are sending you and your dog a hand/paw hold and lots of good vibes. Good luck 💐💐

Unluckycat1 · 09/02/2024 14:57

I'm so sorry your dog is unwell. I really hope there's something that can be done xx

Words · 09/02/2024 14:58

Sending hand and paw holds. I know something of the agony you must be experiencing. Flowers

Gizlotsmum · 09/02/2024 14:58

Oh I really hope they have booked a room to discuss options rather than just deliver bad news . They will be used to people being upset. Can you take someone with you? Ask them to write everything down, you can always call back with questions as they occur to you. Everything crossed for you!

shockthemonkey · 09/02/2024 15:01

Thinking of you and your DD ❤️

Neriah · 09/02/2024 15:02

I hope your dog will be OK. I know it sounds bad, and preparing for bad news is sensible. But my last dog was in a similar state at 13 years old and the vet said to put him to sleep. I assured myself he wasn't in pain, then told them to treat him. I know they expected n him to die - they told me so when I collected him 8 hours later! He lived another 3.5 years. Miracles can happen.

Dogs are family and I can't imagine how worried you are xxxxxxxxx

Nudgethatjudge · 09/02/2024 15:06

Sending a virtual hug. Waiting is horrid. I hope the news is they can help you doggie.

Baxdream · 09/02/2024 15:06

I had 5 days of a very poorly dog and genuinely thought he wasn't coming home. Nearly 5 years later he's snoring next to me (he had meningitis).
I cried so much at the vets as like yours, ours is family.
I hope you are okay and you get good news. Take each day as it comes

AUDHDVET · 09/02/2024 15:10

She’s in the right place, OP.
I would ensure a room was available for anything from a terminal diagnosis to ‘this needs referral but should be treatable’ to ‘this is perfectly treatable but will require commitment from owners’ (e.g. diabetes).
I’m sure the vet will be happy to answer any questions and help you make the correct decision for your lovely dog.
