Cheese

Our dog is mad for cheese. If he smells it, he goes round the house for ages to see if we’ve dropped any.
Is cheese bad for dogs, or would a little bit now and then be ok?

Yes give the poor boy some cheese! Can't believe you get away with not paying the cheese tax? (Also can't believe you didn't just Google this).

vodkaredbullgirl · 30/10/2023 21:44

My labs love cheese, well any food they can have if they could.

hockityponktas · 30/10/2023 21:47

We reserve cheese for when we need to give worming tablets. Although he comes to investigate every time we open the fridge just in case😂

margotrose · 30/10/2023 21:48

My dog will do anything for cheese.

Don't deprive him any longer!

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 30/10/2023 21:49

Best to only give mild cheese as it's lower in salt , and cheaper .

EdithStourton · 30/10/2023 21:51

It is the ultimate bribe in this house. I saw cheese rinds and cut them up as treats.

itsnotmeitsu · 30/10/2023 22:26

I add a little bit of cottage cheese to my retired racer greyhound's food, as I've read it's okay for them. It gives some extra calcium. I'd Google salt contents of cheese before I fed any to him.

Caggers · 30/10/2023 22:27

You have to pay the cheese tax. Them’s the rules.

Cheeesus · 30/10/2023 22:29

Ours recognise the word ‘cheese’ and it’s the ultimate bribe for when they’ve picked up something they shouldn’t.
There are lists online of what they can’t have 😊

Ylvamoon · 30/10/2023 22:29

Oh, poor dog! 😢

Cheeesus · 30/10/2023 22:30

Big cheese fans all round, here. Obviously. 😂😂

Cheese =ultimate training treat

Easy to cut into tiny pieces so you can give lots of rewards

wetotter · 30/10/2023 22:58

DDog ignores the opening of the fridge and general fossicking round in it. But touch a packet of cheese and she is instantly and expectantly at your feet!

But she only gets the tiniest shards, and only rarely. One of her mother's littermates had pancreatitis, and eating cheese can bring that on (type of fat).

Snippit · 30/10/2023 23:07

We used to say “cheese Gromit” now we only have to say Gromit and they all know it’s code for cheese 🧀 😋

Cottage cheese is good for dogs low salt high calcium and great for kongs .

Cheese & tinned sardines=% nectar of the gods to my lot.

HoHoHoliday · 31/10/2023 01:27

Babybell is the top favourite treat in our house!

ApolloandDaphne · 31/10/2023 02:34

Cheese is a top tier treat for my Lab.

muddyford · 31/10/2023 12:43

I use cheese daily as a reward for good recall or ignoring a piece of random filth he quite fancies eating. Never as a treat, only as a delicious reward.

SidekickSylvia · 31/10/2023 12:51

I use cheese sparingly because of the salt content, so I'm going to buy him some cottage cheese, which I'd not thought of before. Do they like it as much as (my seriously strong) cheese?

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 31/10/2023 12:59

Cottage cheese is a lovely treat for for dogs , my puppies regularly enjoyed it in their kongs .

HappiestSleeping · 31/10/2023 15:28

Echo the paying of the cheese tax.

Excellent training treat, the smellier the better. Limburger or similar.
