I’ll start:

Flags fluttering or anything particularly flappy, which made coronation weekend a bit of a trial and makes me nervous about going camping…

inanimate things that look like animals or people - there is a house nearby with very large, baffling, pair of stone Great Danes outside, which shall not be passed under any circumstances.

Tinfoil, sellotape and Velcro (being pulled off the roll/ pulled apart)

Helium balloons - not to be trusted.

Loose plastic bags on the street
Temporary traffic lights
Molehills
Walking sticks

Hellocatshome · 24/06/2023 23:37

Cricket bats, not that odd if they are being swung around but is even scared of them when they are just lying on the ground.

People with towels wrapped around their heads. I sometimes forget and come out of the bathroom then have to make a hasty retreat when Ddog starts going berserk.

Molehills! Brilliant

plastic bags, yes. Flappy. Suspicious.

must be scary to be a dog in an urban world.

The biscuit tin but loves the biscuits

Rainrainstayawaytilseptember · 24/06/2023 23:39

Stone statue of a ddog in local park.
Frying pan.. Poor rescue didn't have a nice life.
Dkitten.... Clawed ddog this morning on the bum!

IntravenousDeMilo · 24/06/2023 23:39

Brooms
Bags of food shopping

Chesneyhawkes1 · 24/06/2023 23:40

A scarecrow that appeared on our walk one day.

BreviloquentBastard · 24/06/2023 23:41

The soda stream. He screams at it.

Radiodread · 24/06/2023 23:41

Biscuit tins! That’s a weird one. I wonder if it’s the weird acoustic vacuum sucking sound as you prise the lid off.

The vacuum cleaner and spiders.

Yes but luckily hasn't been an issue so far. My Grandparents used to have a dog that was scared of women in head coverings, they lived in Birmingham. Every walk was an actual nightmare.

I dropped it one day when getting him a biccy and he's been petrified ever since. He's a sensitive wee soul lol walked him last week and someone in the street left out a washing machine for council to collect. He refused to walk past. Had to cross to the other side

TappingTed · 24/06/2023 23:47

Crutches or waking sticks.
Certain hats but not all hats. Weirdly.

KateJohns · 24/06/2023 23:49

I was walking through the industrial estate with he dog the other day. There's a popular food truck there and they'd but out one of those thin metal signs in the plastic bases.
Dog wouldn't walk past it.. pulled back on his lead and nearly went in the road.
I spent several minutes trying to give him treats to tempt him to walk by.. the dumbass. 😂

Ourladycheesusedatum · 24/06/2023 23:50

Oh my days it's a huge list but most recent
DP swatted a fly away, dog hides behind me. That was tonight.
A tiny statue? Of a cat had him hysterical. It was in a cafe and on the top shelf.
Our cat sends him loopy some days.
Next doors put up some hanging baskets, then days of ddog shying away if they moved in the wind.
The other dog steals the sweeping brush when I'm trying to sweep up. She hates it and digs a hole to bury it in.

We can roll up cardboard boxes, or newspapers or magazines and little dude runs and hides. I guarantee he has never been hit by a rolled up anything.

And if the football is on I have two dogs trying to climb onto my head at the first whistle.

Itsadogone · 24/06/2023 23:50

Birds, any sort of bird noise. There’s one street near me that we get to on every walk and there’s obviously a lot of birds on roofs around there because he ducks down and basically army crawls most of the way 🙄 I’m sure it is hearing related and he has extremely sensitive hearing because I’ve noticed it so many times with those types of noises

That is actually brilliant. A racist dog. Your poor grandparents, mortifying!

The sweeping brush. Also suitcases as she knows a trip is coming up …

GetDownkeith · 24/06/2023 23:51

Farts! She runs away if anyone farts in her vicinity she will even vacate the bed, it's handy if you need her to move tbh a s she thinks nothing of inflicting hers on the rest of us. Although, if any of hers are audible she scares herself and runs away.

StEtienne93 · 24/06/2023 23:52

Balls. Absolutely terrified of them and there's never been an incident to cause it.
My 4yo dd has never owned a ball because the dog wouldn't cope with it.
If we go to the park, she struggles if anyone kicks a ball within 20 yards. It's so bad, we don't really go to parks anymore.
Tried to desensitise her using treats and a small squash ball and slowly rolling it along the floor in the same room as her, but she just ran straight upstairs and didn't want to come back downstairs.

Sunnysunbun · 24/06/2023 23:53

Her bowl if the light is shining on it so sometimes she has to eat off the floor. She is scared of all bowls apart from her bowl ( when it isn't being scary) so she never drinks water if we're out. She will drink out of a cup just not scary unfamiliar bowls.

katmunchkin · 24/06/2023 23:55

Wind turbines!

WhyDoesItAlways · 24/06/2023 23:56

Anything inflatable. She carried a balloon in her mouth as a pup which popped and now she will bark at anyone holding anything inflatable until they put it down.

Also snowmen.
