Other than the standard list of things, beds, blankets, toys, bowls, leads, collars, harness etc what have you bought for you and your pup that you wouldn't be without?

Looking at doing a little shopping spree for my boy.

vet beds - those cheap fluffy blankets/ mats. I have one in the boot of the car, and a couple in the house. Doggo and cats love to sleep on them and they are easy to wash. Don't get the ones with the green underneath as that crumbles off over time.

Wolfiefan · 05/03/2023 10:11

Dogmatic
Dicky bag
Ruff and tumble robes and mitts
Lovely collars.
I spend so much. 🤦‍♀️

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 05/03/2023 11:53

Buffalo horns! Never known a dog not love them
amd found them helpful getting mine (all rescues) to settle

sugarplumfairy28 · 05/03/2023 12:19

@ilovesushi actually this is the bedding we use for DD's guinea pig hadn't thought of getting some for pup.

@Wolfiefan that dicky bag sounds like a great idea, added that to my list. Honestly my dogs have all been spoilt but right now with our new puppy and only dog I feel like we only have basics lol.

@Lastqueenofscotland2 do Buffalo horns pass the finger nail test? I always thought they were rock solid? I am assumingthey're not processed like rawhide?

Mudbuster paw washing pot.

AnotherOne4 · 05/03/2023 13:18

Yakers dog chew. Wanted a healthy chew for my boys, and they love these as a treat. They last a long time, and love the last piece in the microwave, as it blows up into a bit crispy chunk.

EdithStourton · 05/03/2023 14:08

Multi-pocket waist belt/bumbag for poo bags, treats, ball, keys, phone, suncream etc etc.

Whistle.

Floralnomad · 05/03/2023 14:49

A coat with many large pockets , it’s all I need in the winter . Dog drying bag for the dog .

ProbablyDogNappersHunX · 05/03/2023 14:55

Mine has a tendency to lunge, and the shock on your elbow and shoulder when they reach the end of the lead can be quite significant. Mine may only be 8kg managed to badly tear a muscle in a someone's arm when he lunged at a cat at an awkward angle. This bungee lead extension takes the shock out of the lunging and I combine it with an extra short lead so it's a normal length overall

A lead slip telling people not to touch the dog

A poo bag holder - having them on a little roll is really very convenient

FfeminyddCymraeg · 05/03/2023 14:57

Bum bag for me.

I know you said no bowls etc but we have a LumoLeaf bowl for the en suite and wouldn’t be without it. It never ever spills and means they have access to water without having to go to the kitchen. Handy, especially at night.

DominoRules · 05/03/2023 17:24

My dog walking bag - had one from a local lady and so handy to have something to fit in a ball, poo bags, treats etc.

Have just ordered myself a larger one from cocopup as it can also fit a bottle of water in, useful for walks when it starts to warm up

IngGenius · 05/03/2023 19:10

Outside hot and cold water taps with shower attachment

AdventFridgeOfShame · 05/03/2023 19:21

This squeaky chicken. It lasted over a year, most last less than a day.

A whistle, so worth the effort.

An Equafleece jumper , they make all sorts of shapes and sizes.

Not a buffalo horn, she's a cruncher, she'd have no teeth left.

Camel scalp chews last a while (and stink)

Riverlee · 05/03/2023 19:29

Another vote for yak bars.

Toys, and lots of them so:you can rotate them, and a mixture of chew, soft etc

Spare bedding for when they have accidents, or need changing.

kong toy (the one that looks like a butt plug!)

Torch, so you can watch pup when he goes outside at night

Slip on shoes, which you can put on quickly for when pup is outside

Book puppy classes up early- they can get booked up

Spray which masks the scent of wee for when they have accidents

Bitter apple spray - discourages chewing

puppy pads - didn’t use these so not worth buying

Stock up on your sleep now!

Leonberger · 05/03/2023 19:30

For me it’s a blaster dryer and a hot tap outside.

I have filthy beasts though.

Glenthebattleostrich · 05/03/2023 19:36

I have a cross body bag which has a poo bag dispenser in it, pouch for wipes and sanitiser, and room for keys, phone, treat, ball and spare poo bags. I love it.

a good harness, spare lead (mine is a lead chewer), torch and comfy yard boots

sugarplumfairy28 · 05/03/2023 20:51

Wow so much to go look up and add to my list, thanks.

Bumbag ready with supplies including set of keys to house that are always kept in that bag so I can just grab and go (also keep change for a coffee and packet of wet wipes in case of poo bag accidents, thankfully never had to use them...)

After a few limited months success with the Perfect Fit we now use this www.cotswoldpetsupplies.co.uk/dog/dog-harnesses?gclid=CjwKCAiAmJGgBhAZEiwA1JZolrysATgyEWV5Cfe1WV0fSiyFiBywXYQTxW_dWsgZ9wwnxgyUvMtr-xoCQRAQAvD_BwE and it's been a MASSIVE gamechanger and my neck and spine are very grateful

Lickimat and aquamat really help with grooming and calming and been really helpful when we've had to give pup eye drops, ear cleans and during a period last summer when he kept coming home from group walks with grass seeds in his eye lid area 😯 and he would let us carefully remove them as he attacked the aquamat stuck at just the right height on the patio door with some peanut butter in it

Tuffies bed - so well made and he looks so comfy and cosy in it.

Ruff & Tumble drying coat and mitts

Proper waterproof gear - including Muck boots for soggy walks and this hat (great if you wear specs - you won't win any style awards but you'll be able to see in the pouring rain www.didriksons.com/en/women/accessories/waterproof-hats/southwest-adult-unisex-s-hat-504209-999 )

A standby tube of this www.petdrugsonline.co.uk/protexin-pro-kolin-for-dogs-cats after it was recommended following a bout of post-fox poo snaffling and dicky tum - sorted him right out

Outside hot and cold water taps with shower attachment

Oh, how I envy you!

DustyLee123 · 05/03/2023 21:32

Seat belt adapter.

SquashPenguin · 05/03/2023 21:33

My pug loves his antler, he’s had it a year and it’s still going strong. Loves Yakkers too, although he manages to lose them a lot and we end up finding a manky old one buried in the sofa now and again!

Newpeep · 06/03/2023 07:52

Enrichment toys - kong, toppl, licki mat and bowl - the bowl is great to slow down meals

yak chews are excellent but expensive.

cage ball - so much safer than a tennis ball

vet bed. Lasts years and hundreds of washes and has so many uses

most things we have are from our last dog so other than the Licki bowl and the toppl we’ve not bought much for our pup.

AnotherBreakfast · 06/03/2023 10:00

Oh thanks for the tip @bingohandjob on the tummy settling stuff. Have just caught puppy eating what looks like 💩 in the garden - not his. Didn't look like fox poo so poss cat. Have ordered that stuff in-case

Wolfiefan · 06/03/2023 10:05

Anywhere near NEC? Crufts has the BEST shopping. 🤣

sugarplumfairy28 · 06/03/2023 13:50

@bingohandjob that tube sounds like a good idea, will add that too. Especially if its good for cats too, we have a Bengal who has bouts of upset stomach.
