Why is my dog not talking to me?

Is it because I've suggested a walk and it's raining?

She's a high energy breed, she needs a walk?

She just gives me the side eye when I speak to her!

Does she usually bother with the rain?

Timeforachangeisitnot · 14/01/2023 09:00

If rain doesn’t normally bother her - is she in pain ? If rain does bother her, would she wear a coat ? How old is she ? My younger lab will go out in all weathers, the older boy picks and chooses after a sniff at the door.

I have decided to let him do that as he is old and arthritic and eventually at some point in the day , boredom will kick in , and toileting needs , and he will come with us.

dogdaydown · 14/01/2023 09:02

Oh sorry I should've put light hearted!

She is honestly fine, but snug as a bug and doesn't want to move.

Sorry if I caused alarm.

I get that when I open the back door and suggests mine goes outside to pee when it's raining. Looks at me like I'm crazy lol

Soggydog · 14/01/2023 09:05

I read it as lighthearted

Sparklefoof · 14/01/2023 09:11

Mine was annoyed with me this morning because I couldn't stop the rain so she could go out for a wee. After several unsuccessful attempts to get her out, she must have got desperate so she stomped out for one. Definitely my fault she got wet apparently!!

BigBundleOfFluff · 14/01/2023 10:01

Right now I'm getting side eye:

"Women, you are recklessly denying me an enrichment opportunity for playing football with the small two-legged next door"

Why couldn't you stop the rain? Totally unreasonable!

One of mine ran out the door for a wee, skidded to a halt cartoon style when she felt the rain and ran back inside.

The other one took one look and decided to just cross her legs and wait.

I am the recipient of "the side eye" on a frequent basis from my lovely dog!! Does yours sigh (and I swear she shrugs) too? She's like the worlds stroppiest teenager some days!!

You would think my Ddog2 has the whole world on his shoulders from the sighs that come out of him!!

OchonAgusOchonOh · 14/01/2023 10:35

Mine doesn't sigh but she does moan. It's not a whine, it's not a bark. The only word to describe it is a moan.

She does it if her bed is messed up (wonder who messed it) or the water isn't fresh enough or she wants a fire lit etc. She is obviously disgusted by the poor quality of staff these days.

Coffeecreme · 14/01/2023 10:35

mine tried to slink up to the bathroom to go on the floor
but luckily i saw her

Eastereggswhichoneareyou · 14/01/2023 10:37

Has your ddog got suitable outdoor attire op? Mine won't leave without a coat...

staciea31 · 14/01/2023 10:38

My little darling was furious this morning as I had to get her out of bed so I could go to work the constant sighs and side eye was enough to let me know yeah she isn’t my friend for now haha xx

Glenthebattleostrich · 14/01/2023 10:44

Today I have displeased the fluffy overlord by

getting up

allowing it to rain out of the front and back door (yes, we have to check both)

suggested if she wants to go for a walk we put her coat on (which cost almost the same as mine!)

Pointing out we have bacon sandwiches on a Sunday nit a Saturday

Left her with daddy while i took some small people out.

allowing said small people into her house on a Saturday.

The list goes on. She really is a stroppy madam!!

Els1e · 14/01/2023 10:44

@BigBundleOfFluff I love that photo. The body language says it all. 😁

WhippetOfMassDestruction · 14/01/2023 11:05

I get blamed for the weather. I get cold-shouldered for going out without him too. Anyone else comes in the house, he kisses them and sings the song of his people to them, for me he just sits on the stairs going 'j'accuse' with his beady eyes.

One of my sister's cats comes in and berates her loudly if he's had to go out in the rain 😁

knitfastdieyoung · 14/01/2023 11:07

Did you finish the belly rubs early so you could make yourself a cup of tea? My dog gets the proper sulks at this... Grin

Lots of sighing, it's just such a hard life she has not!

Yes, mine says that to me frequently! Precipitation is clearly All My Fault

She won't wear a coat or fleece (to be fair she's got a terrier double coat and doesn't really need to) and if she comes in damp, shows her displeasure by exaggeratedly drying herself by vigorously rolling rubbing up against soft furnishings

AdventFridgeOfShame · 14/01/2023 21:44

This morning GSPs across the country avoided walks (we were all on FB taking the piss out of the Princesses). If yours is a similar body shape, expect the same.
