Best doughnut dog bed?

Our Cocker Spaniel is having surgery next week & we want to buy a really soft comfy bed. Any advice on what's the best one?
Is it best to buy a bigger one than normal to accommodate for the surgery? He has an underlying condition that means his life span is not very long even with the surgery so we would like him to be really comfortable.
