Any guesses as to the mix??

Hi all,

Recently adopted 2 sister pups from dog pound, beautiful natured girls but can't place the mix on one of them. Warden said the mam was a collie, dad unknown. One of them is definitely a collie but this one is completely different!! Short-haired and more boxy shape skull, also getting bigger than her sister by the day!! Anyone hazard a guess as to what the mix might be??

Staffie terrier cross I reckon

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 07/10/2022 23:04

I'd have said staffie and collie but not sure that's a thing?! Can all dog's breed all dogs?!

CandyLeBonBon · 07/10/2022 23:04

Ears are more terrier than collie but could be a collie/terrier cross mum (I have one)

ItsaPeppaPink · 07/10/2022 23:05

Oh, and here's the sister in case anyone interested 😊

Any guesses as to the mix??

The very 1st pic, she looks to have a heart shaped nose 🤗

I always thought a collie looked like Lassie? And a border collie was black/white? Adorable, whatever they are.

You can get DNA tests for dogs, so its an option if you really want to know.

eurochick · 07/10/2022 23:07

I'd say there's some collie in there.

Zwicky · 07/10/2022 23:08

Bull lurcher x collie?

ItsaPeppaPink · 07/10/2022 23:11

Few of you saying the staffy mix, that's what I was possibly thinking as it's a common breed here so it's very possible that the mam would have met one if out in season.

Aww, never noticed that about the nose, that's sweet☺️

How big did she get? This one is definitely going to be bigger than her sister...

Bull lurcher x collie?

Just googled a bull lurcher and I don't think so, the shape of head and ears seems very different but thanks for the suggestion

I'd say Staffie too, are they cuddly and naughty? Broad across the chest and a wide jaw? They are both lovely.

LightDrizzle · 08/10/2022 01:49

Staffer and Border Collie here!

mountainsunsets · 08/10/2022 08:38

I'd say staffy cross border collie. That's an interesting combination - good luck Grin

Spanielsarepainless · 08/10/2022 19:53

Staffie x Border collie, but it could be two different fathers.

Forfukzsake · 08/10/2022 20:09

I was going to say staffie too. They are both lovely! Lucky you!

RIPWalter · 08/10/2022 20:15

My parents adopted a "Collie x" from the dogs trust. He definitely looked like a Collie, but NEVER showed a single Collie trait. We eventually got him DNA profiled.

One parent was Springer spaniel x Jack Russell (Springer jack)
Other parent was just about anything and everything, except for Collie (miniature pinscher, GSD, wheaten terrier, Irish water dog, Spanish mastiff etc).

I think that if you mix breeds up and it comes out black and white people are quick to label it a Collie X.

Peppermintdreams · 08/10/2022 20:24

Staff /collie
or Jackrussel and black lab
given both parents could have been crossed all four!! or swap one for a dash of spaniel .
that’s a nice looking dog anyway!
what does the behaviour and energy vibes give off ? Terrier , gun dog or sofa sloth ?
sometimes that can be a clue ?
love a good cross breed , usually enjoy robust health and easier temperaments in my experience .

serin · 09/10/2022 00:19

What are their tails like?
We had a collie x lab, growing up and he looked similar to yours.

KangarooKenny · 09/10/2022 07:44

That first picture is a staffy face.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 09/10/2022 15:10

I think lab/ collie cross too.

Lesina · 09/10/2022 15:16

I’d say Staffy cross collie. We have one close to us, he is brilliant dog. Great temperament. :-)

OldTinHat · 09/10/2022 15:18

Definitely staffie there! They're adorable!

OldTinHat · 09/10/2022 15:20

Here's my dear old doggo. I miss him!

Any guesses as to the mix??
helpyhelperton · 09/10/2022 19:58

Whatever they are, I love them. Thank you for the pictures. 😊
