Have used Skinners Salmon & potato for a few years now but the price has gone up a lot!
Looking at Harringtons Grain Free. It's cheaper & available in most shops.
I know some people recommend Aldi dog food.
We need grain free as we have Brachycephalic breeds.

Any recommendations??

Mine has James Wellbeloved turkey and rice.
Shop around for it.

Has top ups of the Harrington's grain free. She's got lots of allergies but seems to tolerate it.

I also mix with Morrisons grain free meat sachets.

Both my puppy and my older dog have Harringtons grain free.
My older dog can have quite a sensitive stomach but does well on this.

mountainsunsets · 28/09/2022 09:37

Harringtons - we mix wet and dry.

twistyizzy · 28/09/2022 09:44

Millies Wolfheart. Chicken and grain free.

scrufffy · 28/09/2022 09:48

Harringtons grain free :)

Just remember to calculate the amount of food that the dog needs on each type of food. It can make a huge difference.

For example Millies wolfheart endurance costs around 48.00 per 12kg bag but cost per day for a 30kg dog as they eat about 300grams a day.

Harringtons would be cheaper per 15kg but you need to feed between 360 - 400 g a day so the cost would actually be very similar. Harringtons have always encouraged more food per weight than a lot of dog foods as it is pretty high in carbs. Not a problem just something to consider

Cost per day would be similar or may be cheaper than other foods that are cheaper to buy initially

I have Pugs. I feed Royal Canin 'Pug' They love it

forumsempronii · 28/09/2022 10:54

Blimey just looked at feeding guide for Skinners! 32kg-45kg need up to 500g a day!

Look at Millies. Inital cost will seem more but you will be feeding a 30kg dog between 300- 380 depending on the food you buy

ChicagoCubsFan · 28/09/2022 11:13

Ours have Harrington’s as it’s the only one we could find that suited one of them so now they all have it. They have dry and wet for every meal with various other ‘toppings’ on their evening meal.

MintyGreenDreams · 28/09/2022 11:22

Aatu high protein Kibble.

AriettyHomily · 28/09/2022 11:23

Burns wild fish but he's diabetic so there aren't many other options

Hoppinggreen · 28/09/2022 11:25

We raw feed our GR
Its not for everyone as it’s not as easy as dry but he’s lost weight, has more energy and his coat is beautiful . His poos are tiny and inoffensive now too!

Verytirednow · 28/09/2022 11:25

Roast chicken for my terrier…she will not eat dog food 🙄

hoochyhag · 28/09/2022 11:27

Westie, eats 100g Millies Wolfheart forerunner. £38 for 12kg. She loves it and is very healthy so far.

hoochyhag · 28/09/2022 11:28

100g per day 😌

onmywayamarillo · 28/09/2022 11:44

James well beloved here. 2 cups a day
She gets a few scraps too mainly from kids dinner
24kg dog

Leonberger · 28/09/2022 18:16

I never feed on weight, always by eye. The weights they claim they need are often crazy!

FuckingHateRats · 28/09/2022 18:40

We alternate meals with Crave or Gentle. She gets some kind of delicious (to her) protein mixed in - sardines, human grade mince mince and peas, a little scrambled eggs.

SeanMean · 28/09/2022 18:53

Oodles raw food here for my cockapoo. He loves it!

alloutoflunchideas · 28/09/2022 20:05

Canagan and agree with others check the weight you’d feed and feed by eye
just because it says 500g per kg doesn’t mean they do…

forumsempronii · 28/09/2022 20:52

Totally agree about feeding by your dogs condition.

However the feeding guidelines are based on calorific value of the food so the feeding guides give you an indication of which foods will require more to be fed to your dog to maintain weight.

Lightningrain · 28/09/2022 21:19

We feed raw bud the all about dog food website is great for comparing the quality of different foods if you’re looking for a new one.

We used to feed Millie’s Wolfheart or Eden kibble which are both decent quality. There’s a lot of rubbish out there sadly.

foreverinmyheart · 29/09/2022 04:46

We mix natures variety with 'pets love fresh' - he goes mad for the the latter! Loves it

hattie43 · 29/09/2022 05:23

Butternut box . My smallie dog is uber fussy but he loves this .
