Have used Skinners Salmon & potato for a few years now but the price has gone up a lot!
Looking at Harringtons Grain Free. It's cheaper & available in most shops.
I know some people recommend Aldi dog food.
We need grain free as we have Brachycephalic breeds.

Any recommendations??

Millies here too (we have the 70% salmon). We tried Orijen but it is incredibly expensive.

We raw feed due to allergies. It is about £3-£4 per day for our large lurcher depending on what mix or how many bones/treats he has. It is very dear, but he is absolutely worth it! His coat is gorgeous, poos small and inoffensive and he had bags of energy but is calm with it (well, apart from reactivity to off lead dogs, but I am not a fan of them either to be fair!).

Buildingthefuture · 29/09/2022 07:36

Mine have James Welbeloved and have always done well on it. We have a lot of dogs though (we get through 30kgs of food a month) and it is quite expensive. I might give Harringtons a try….
I also have one very fussy girl who will ONLY eat Lilys Kitchen, the price of which makes me weep!!!!

Watching with interest as I've always fed skinners but I don't know if they've changed the recipe the Dalmatian has turned into the fartiest creature on the planet.

Nanasueathome · 29/09/2022 07:57

AATU kibble
Pooch and Mutt salmon wet food
Butternut Box…which is her absolute favourite

D1ngledanglers · 29/09/2022 21:11

Previously on fish 4 dogs....

Clymene · 29/09/2022 21:12

Raw feed natures menu

Bordercolliesarebest1 · 29/09/2022 22:52

Harringtons grain free mixed with fresh cooked chicken. Mine is spoiled too.

bruce43mydog · 29/09/2022 22:54

Mine go between lilys kitchen or chappie. Tried them on cesar but it didn't agree with them.

DuaneDibbley · 29/09/2022 23:01

One on Millie's, the puppy on Lily's kitchen currently

MsPrism · 29/09/2022 23:02

Mine has Forthglade wet food mixed with Lilly Kitchen/pooch & mutt dry. Tried raw but she wouldn’t eat most of them and it was getting expensive.

Floralnomad · 29/09/2022 23:06

Nature Diet wet .

Joystir59 · 29/09/2022 23:08

Lily's Kitchen dry lamb and home cooked beef/pork mince or fish with lots of veg. He has allergies esp chicken.

Galarunner · 29/09/2022 23:15

Eden original cuisine and a few raw chicken wings from time to time. I think some people say its bad to mix raw and prepared food but Tess looks well on it. Eden is expensive but gets a very high rating on all about dog food. It's very high in meat and fish so she doesn't seem to need very much . Her poos are small, firm not very smelly compared to when she was on James well beloved.

Hairymaery · 29/09/2022 23:19

Our dog is also on a fresh raw diet. Kibble is mass processed and lacks nutritional value. Like a human living off processed food 24/7, no good!

Tormundsbeard · 29/09/2022 23:30

Naturo

Catclown · 29/09/2022 23:43

We feed AVA to our large dog, mixed with tins of either sardines or Mackrell, he loves it and his coat is so silky. We buy the sensitive tummy one.

We tried the aldi food in an emergency and it put his tummy off for weeks!

sweetkitty · 29/09/2022 23:51

Millie’s Wolfheart dry with a tin of wet halved twice a day

Riverlee · 30/09/2022 07:18

Autarky puppy food. It’s what the breeder used so we continued using it.

MrsDoyle351 · 30/09/2022 07:29

We slum it with Bakers here. £22.50 for 14kg, Our mixed breed rescue likes it and has had it for last 7 years...

Slacktacular · 06/10/2022 18:03

Eden kibble. My small cocker spaniel has 160g a day. I buy in 12kg bags to get a discount and it works out as £1 a day. Not only do I think that’s a fair price, he is in amazing condition on it. Lean physique, shiny coat, good breath, not farty. What more could you ask for?!

PugInTheHouse · 09/10/2022 13:26

We have never been told to use grain free for Brachycephalic breeds, we use Pets at Home Ava. We used to use Royal Canin Pug food which he loved but its very expensive and it has crap ingredients.

Lightningrain · 13/10/2022 11:24

Bakers has been mentioned a couple of times. It really is an awful food. Dogs don’t need carbs and this is pretty much cereal and grains with some meat derivatives (not actual meat).

Millie's wolfheart forerunner is fantastic. I have tried so, so many kibbles for my fussy girl. She had never enjoyed food and it's been a struggle to get her interested. Well on this food she's actually excited about meals. It's not a bad price for the quality at all.

RavenQueen · 16/10/2022 11:00

We feed raw for 2 of our Bulldogs and the 3rd bulldog has Butternut. Raw isn't for everyone though but Butternut is good. I have a link for a discount with Butternut if you want to try it. I think it's 50% off butternutbox.com/Natalie423?share_source=copylink
