Is anyone awake - lost my dog tonight

Just wanted to put this on here - i'm in tears and nobody to talk to right now. My youngest darling dog was hit by a car tonight (completely my fault) and has died. She was only one. I feel utterly grief stricken and heartbroken- I can't stop crying. It was totally traumatic.....

I’m here, a dog mum & loved and can’t imagine what you’re going through. Accidents happen but it doesn’t make it any less horrific.

Have you family or friends who can support you in the morning? There’s also a national pet bereavement charity (I think it’s blue line?) who might be able to help. Sending love, what you’re going through is so tough.

I’m so sorry for your devastating loss. Similar happened to me years ago with my 8 month Westie and it’s so dreadful I know. Try to think of how your beautiful girl was so loved by you all and had a fantastic life with you. Thank you everyone for being kind. Had a couple of hours sleep. Just wondering how i can get through this and function for my children. This is the worst feeling.

Ohhhh I'm so sorry. It hurts so much, doesn't it? My dog was hit by a car the day after we moved house 4 years ago. Was an utter shock, like you I lay awake most of the night.
Nothing I say will help right now, but time helps.

You poor thing, that sounds absolutely dreadful. Be kind to yourself today and don't expect too much of yourself

So sorry to hear about your dear dog. We lost our dog yesterday too. Different circumstances she was almost 11 and just had a fit and died on the way to the vet but equally sudden, fine in the morning but gone by the afternoon
I know what you are going through though, we too are devastated. I keep bursting into tears . I work from home and she was my work colleague for the last 2 years
I am shocked by the intensity of loss I am feeling it’s almost overwhelming. The postman has just been and she normally goes nuts barking and now just silence. Everything is a reminder at the moment. Sending you lots of love and support that we can get through this together

Thanks @Eatglass . I think we just have to get through one day at a time and hope it will get easier. I am just looking forward being able to remember the happy times with her and it not being so painful

I'm so sorry 😢 it is so devastating isn't it. I lost my 11month old puppy earlier this year in the same way. It broke my heart and I couldn't stop crying for days. Sending you love and hugs. My heart goes out to you xx

@foreverinmyheart thank you for sharing and I'm so sorry you have experienced similar. I have slept a little better and am going for longer periods without crying but the feelings are still overwhelming. She was a little dog but she sure made her presence felt so the quietness is really difficult.

It is such an empty feeling not having their presence. And there are all the little moments of the day or areas of the house that bring back memories 💔 it's a shock and you have to give yourself time to feel or the feels and grieve xxx I found it helpful to try and focus on cherishing the time we had together and did some things in memory of him.

Eventually, we ended up getting another little puppy this year. He could never replace our darling one we lost but having the joy and love back in our lives really helped xxx

Just checking in on you @Eatglass . I too am feeling a little better and thinking less of the day we lost her and remembering the good times more. Hoping to keep the tissue count in single figures today (but not hopeful)

Hi @Adventadventures thank you. I'm finding that i can function quite normally when dealing with work/day to day stuff but speaking about what happened results in tears and painful feelings. Just had some flowers from my bosses so more tears! Hope you are ok, it really is still early days but i know this will get easier and i am looking forward to sharing my memories of her with a smile ❤️
