Is anyone awake - lost my dog tonight

Just wanted to put this on here - i'm in tears and nobody to talk to right now. My youngest darling dog was hit by a car tonight (completely my fault) and has died. She was only one. I feel utterly grief stricken and heartbroken- I can't stop crying. It was totally traumatic.....

Sorry to hear this. They are such a huge part of our lives from the very second they put a paw on you.
How are you doing now it's been a few days?

I had to make a decision about my 14yr old boy a few months ago, it's absolutely broken me and in all honesty I'm still not OK now, the smallest things set me off. What I have learned is to just take each day as it comes, take things slowly, appreciate the memories and embrace the sadness, don't bottle it up, let it out. Some people won't understand but that doesn't make them bad or wrong it just makes them different (personally I feel slightly sorry for them, not knowing a pets unconditional love and loyalty).
Like any loss, you don't get over it but you do learn to live with it.

Sending you hugs.

Oh you poor woman! I’m so so sorry

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Our gorgeous doggies sadly have no road sense and we're all 2 seconds away from an accident ike that.

It was out of your control and it can happen so easily and so fast. I'm so sorry. Do you have pet insurance because they provide bereavement support also.

Lots of love and thoughts to you.

We lost our gorgeous 11 year old greyhound today. She had been slowing down but suddenly went downhill this morning and we took her to the emergency vets. She came to us to from a horrific background but had nearly 7 happy years with us. I'm preparing myself for walking my other dog tomorrow and the constant tears if anyone mentions her. Grief really is the price we pay for love with our dogs.

💐For all of you that have lost your pets. They were so lucky to have such lovely homes.

Thank you everyone for your kind messages and sending much love to those of you who have lost their beautiful doggies. My tears are drying but i still have a very painful ache which won't subside. As others have said i know time will help and i have had wonderful support from friends and family. One day at a time...

Hi @eatglass checking in. I hope the helpline provided some support to you.

Honestly, this could happen to any puppy parent. My heart goes out to you. It sounds like you provided a very happy life to your little girl and that's what counts. So many dogs don't have that.

Be kind to yourself.

Thank you. I still feel anxious and empty but the pain is less intense. We are picking her ashes up tomorrow and will be scattering them on her favourite walk ❤️
