My two year old lab has had a play date with the two year old border collie from next door.

My lab had a great time, but was completely outclassed in all aspects of play, except tug o war and the collie was too smart to go down than route more than once.

Labbie got a ball and was trying to get the collie to chase him. Lab ran in big circles full pelt around the collie, who stood on one spot and turned in small, energy-efficient circles. Lab was done in after a couple of minutes and collie walked over and took ball while lab was catching breath.

Lab, after a rest, optimistically tried to chase down the collie to get the ball back. Lab ran at top speed and collie loped along casually and suddenly did a u-turn. Lab was like an ocean liner trying to turn. He must have overshot by 50 metres.

When I took my boy home, I swear the collie was sniggering.

Anyway, it really made me smile!

I have a goldie and a guarding breed dog. My goldie will do a fake woof at an imaginary intruder at the front door, to make my guard dog run to the front door to check, and meanwhile she can steal the chew toy that he was happily enjoying 🙃

"fast you are, clever you're not"
@MrsTerryPratchett Isn't that the sighthound family motto?
