@WhatsitWiggle

Does she have any recall whatsoever? None? Then you have a beagle!

My brother has one - his wife's choice. Lockdown puppy and he is totally bonkers and a complete liability. Seriously cute face though - I mean, you just can't resist the head tilt and raised ears, can you?

Takes recall as her chance to take a runner opposite direction 😂😂

No one can tell without papers/tree/lineage.
Even poorly bred pure breeds can look odd.
Likewise two similar mixed bred dogs out of a litter might have one looking pure.

Hmm there's always one! I wasn't holding any ones answer as actual gospel more just wanted my feelings confirmed it's in the snout something isn't right I did said a honestly didn't care what she is as she's just beautiful 😍

With the spots on her snout she could have some harrier in her perhaps.

I wouldn't say foxhound as they are bloody massive compared to beagles Grin

bluesky45 · 25/03/2022 22:21

It's hard to tell from the angle of the picture, like a pp said her snout looks a bit big? But also, she looks totally caught red pawed with the unicorn so possibly just a guilty face!

EmpressSuiko · 25/03/2022 22:40

If you got her from a breeder do you not have paper work or the parents history or do you suspect the breeder isn’t being trustful?
Either way she is absolutely adorable!

HotnSunnyRainbowRoses · 25/03/2022 23:14

My first guess would be beagle x harrier, my second would be a ‘working line’ beagle.

As a PP said, I imagine the posters who said foxhound have never seen a foxhound as they are absolutely enormous compared to beagles!

My thought is he's not being truthful perhaps I'm just cynical lol she can be a cross or a pure she's still a wee lovely lol

They vary massively in size. Mine is tiny whereas my friends is more Labrador sized

Any "beagle" that is Labrador sized is not a beagle!

They are small hounds - part of their breed description is that they're- "small, compact and hardy".

A Labrador sized hound is likely to be a harrier, foxhound, trailhound or one of many fell hound breeds.

Beagles are small dogs that don't even come up to your knee. Mine is best friends with a Labrador and the Labrador is pretty much twice his size!

thevampirelestat · 26/03/2022 08:15

Have a look at Kerry Beagles - the snout and face looks more like that kind of shape, but you don't tend to see them much outside of Ireland, so maybe just more a working type Beagle.

MotherOfWhippets · 26/03/2022 08:16

She looks like a Beagle to me and she's beautiful.

But if you bought her from a breeder she should have come with lineage and parent health checks etc - I take it she's not KC registered?

She's lovely either way but breeder sounds a bit dodgy and it's really off to sell known mixes as pures.

bluejelly · 26/03/2022 08:19

Aren't mixed dogs generally healthier than pure breeds? My vet friend said if he ever got a dog he would definitely want a mix.

tattychicken · 26/03/2022 08:21

Typical working beagle.

Is this a pure beagle?
LemonViolets · 26/03/2022 08:25

I have a beagle.

I have a friend who has a beagle jack Russel cross that looks exactly like yours,
I think she definitely has a Jack Russell face.

Possibly a touch of foxhound? Difficult to tell from photo.
That’s what I thought
DoubleTweenQueen · 26/03/2022 08:31

@KenAddams Grew up in a household with a number of beagles and she looks right to me. Why do you ask?
Please don't let her chew her toys to bits and swallow any if the bits though.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 26/03/2022 08:31

It depends entirely on the mix, the breeds involved, what health tests have been done and generally a bunch of luck.

Yes, you have pure bred dogs with awful health issues (see pugs and Frenchies) but you can also have mixes with the same issues too.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 26/03/2022 08:32

Have the people suggesting she's a foxhound mix ever met a foxhound?

They're huge Grin over twice the size of your average beagle with really, really long legs and very differently shaped heads and snouts.
